Hey guys,


New news from canaan.

A8 announced.

Email below:

We are now officially sold out of Avalon 741 for December, and will have some remaining 741  to ship in January 2018. We will contact people on the waiting list to see if they are still interested. Around the end of the month we should be able to announce the new 8 series of miners. At that time we will give out price and performance figures and a First Customer Ship date. The product will be on allocation, and looking at your forecasts it's clear that some will have to wait. We go over every account and will decide in December.  For those of you waiting to hear about the distribution program please watch for future mails. We will probably add a few new distributors in January and then more throughout the rest of the year.   

FYI the URL's in the email are not from Cannan's website. Cannan's  url  is:       https://canaan.io/product/avalonminer-741/

I need help.


I opened several support tickets in canaan.io but no reply so far (it has been more than 2 weeks now).

I need several PMUs, 4 minimumas my A721s are not hashing due to dead PMUs error 3840 on miners boards.

Do you know where I can find them? or do you know any direct email to communicate with canaan.io?

🤣🤣 Nah. I manage the miners, buy miners and theirs PSUs, wiring, replacements and monitoring for my family as well as maintenance. Finally, I get a % of the funds of each.

It seems like it.

The fan is totally covered by a casing and it is positioned far away from the case of the miner.

Like there is a little gap between the miner and the fan.

I decided to take it off for more exploring and will post pictures once done.


The A721 is quieter than the S7.

The current A721 with air forming cooler is a little bit quieter than the older fan due to the lower fan speed.

I do not know if it suitable as a home miner or not but I have a dedicated place for the miners.

All I know that the R4 is the only home miner but with lots of issues.

An update from Canaan regarding hooking A721 with A741.


Hi, yes you can connect A721 and A741 to the same Controller. The firmware can support A7xx in the same chain
Although the voltage setting is different. So it is up to you if you want to run your setup with the devices separate or not. Actually, let us know if you try this and what the results of the setup are for you ok?

As for the cooling numbers, we are working on that but its nearly Chinese New year so there will more than likely be delay on this.

Hi all,

An update.

I got a replacement unit from Canaan which is an A721 but with the air forming cooler of an A741.

Cannot put it in the 6inch aluminum exhaust that I have.

It runs quieter than the first batches I received.

The fan runs at 60% compared to the old batches 80%++.

But Canaan also owes me around $150 since they did not fill and submit certificate of origin correctly.

But, I said what the heck. Money comes money goes.

the S7s (I have 14) are working very well and was considering the S9 once they were out.

But from what I have seen, I am not ready to pay $8000 for S9s or R4s.

And shifted that money for the A7s.

If the T9 is going to be okey, I will go for it since I have sufficient funds otherwise again further A7s to purchase.

I hope you will be refunded. Just drop them emails and follow up.

Yes. The most important thing is reliability. What's the use of a high hashing rate machine and its unreliable and breaks now and then??? Wasting your time with shipping back and forth as well as wasting time till the machine is fixed?

Hope they fixed S9 and R4 with their T9.

Only time will tell.

For now Avalon products are reliable and this is the main concern then hash rate and effeciency.

Final thing. No need to post the API log.

Just Check that the MW from 0 to 3 are not showing zero. ( 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0.....etc)

If they are showing zeroes, restart that specific unit.

If it still shows zero, restart it again till the MW changes to any number than zero.

Update the controller and MM to the latest versions and it will work out for you.

Before that can you post your api here? Maybe a restart could do the trick.
