23  Other / MultiBit / Re: Using multibit under linux runs with console? on: September 19, 2013, 12:08:20 PM
in /usr/bin i have java and javaws

java is executable type pointing to /etc/alternatives/java
javaws is shell script type pointing to /etc/alternatives/javaws

the files in alternatives seem to point to yet files on 3rd location

but anyway, can javaws be the javaw you are referring to?

thanks for the help!
24  Other / MultiBit / Re: Using multibit under linux runs with console? on: September 17, 2013, 06:52:43 PM
The current command: line for the shortcut was

/usr/bin/java -jar /home/user/multibit/multibit-exe.jar

i changed it to
/usr/bin/javaw -jar /home/user/multibit/multibit-exe.jar

and it doesn't start (just a console shows for brief second and then quits)

all sounds great and really thank you for the great answer! Smiley

I'm starting it from the startmenu shortcut and it starts with the console, is there any disadvantage to making it start without the console the way you said?
26  Other / MultiBit / Using multibit under linux runs with console? on: September 17, 2013, 11:46:23 AM
Ok when I start it a console runs in the background and the GUI in the front.
Is that how it's supposed to be?
Can we hide the console?

I'm using it on Debian if that matters.

Also it's considered now safe enough for significant amounts of coin? What's the encryption it uses for the wallet?
What's the best backup practices?
27  Economy / Services / How to send FAX online and pay for it with bitcoins? on: August 29, 2013, 02:18:41 PM
I need to send a fax (apparently there are people still accepting only this legacy form of communication), is there a site that I can just give the doc file and they can send it for me? I don't know anyone that has one of those old school devices Smiley
If I can pay for the service in bitcoins, even better! Smiley

that's why you are a "Looser"  Tongue

And comments like this make you EuroTrash I suppose? Smiley

Can someone paste links of those other threads everyone is talking about

I'm too busy (lazy) to do it on my own, I have more important stuff to do, you know Smiley

btw, does anyone have any real info what's going on with MtGox behind the scenes?

It seems like it's not exactly what they say.
30  Economy / Trading Discussion / Bitcoin cash out options at the moment for Europe? on: July 18, 2013, 01:16:21 PM
Since mtgox is really struggling doing wires, what are our current options to cash out our bitcoins at the moment, fast and easy?
31  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Did anyone get wire from mtgox after the suspension ended? on: July 18, 2013, 01:14:10 PM
It's been about 15 days after they started doing wires again and  i still haven't got my wire which was requested before the suspension.
Did anyone get a USD wire at all from them in the last 15 days?

No USD. Only a SEPA user claims he just received funds from June https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179586.msg2754572#msg2754572

Although others claim they re waiting since April.

They claim they have wired millions.

Does anybody know or care what was the real reason?

36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How do you protect your savings wallet? on: June 07, 2013, 01:08:03 PM
Let's say you have one bitcoin-qt with your everyday wallet where you keep small amounts for every day transactions.
And then you want to have another, separate one with yours savings (eg big amounts) That you will use just occasionally.

How would you go about protecting it? Just encrypt it and move the file to different location and swap the files with the every day wallet (risk of error and accidental delete)? VirtualMachine with another install of bitcoin-qt? Or something else?

Let's brainstorm a bit what's safe, error proof and still not too cumbersome to use at the same time?
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Service doing bitcoin to wire transfers? on: June 04, 2013, 01:52:10 PM
I assume it's the only service like this?
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Service doing bitcoin to wire transfers? on: May 29, 2013, 01:21:09 PM
Thank you!
For how long it has been operating like this?
It's truly amazing and i'm amazed i havent found it earlier! Smiley
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Service doing bitcoin to wire transfers? on: May 29, 2013, 12:08:26 PM
That's pretty good service, thank you!
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Service doing bitcoin to wire transfers? on: May 29, 2013, 10:17:35 AM
I'm looking for something similar to what aurumexchange did.
You send them bitcoins, they send you wire.

Are there any other services that do that?
