This is a no brainer... This is what the s4 should have been...
To release this now with old chips, Shame on u bitmain.. Seems like u have excess stock in your warehouse of maybe C1's and ur trying to get rid of the chips in bulk..
To high a price with S5's in circulation, To high Wattage, To much noise.
I was looking forward to an S4+ using the newer S5 chip at least at 1500w at least that would have pushed it over the 3th mark..
Bad rushed decisions... Come on bitmain, U were the best at this & now your slowly starting to run downhill at a very quick pace & u still havent fixed the voltage settings on the S4
Heres a tip for the S4 in the Freq table take out all the over clock settings & lock them down but leave the underclock settings..
Then in the voltage settings put a drop down box with the underclock voltage settings with suggested freq settings so that people cant blow these things up.. But can downclock them.
Then also put a box allowing the --bitmain-homemode or normal mode so that can be run a little quieter.
END OF LINE
Sometimes for the miner, the best strategy is to run the miners that already in hands and not to buy any new miners. Only buy the miners that is best for you. For a home miner the electricity cost is high and noise is a pain, so we should buy the high efficiency mining rigs. But for large scale miners, the cost of electricity maybe low and noise level is not a concern, they may have better tolerence with the old chips and not so sexy power efficiency. Was the above meant for me?? The S4+ is no good for no one... Why use old chips when new one are available that are faster & more efficient?? Leftover old stock by the sounds & if this is the case they should have sold all of them before releasing new ones.. This is bad business practice that smacks of greed!

Bitmain, when can we expect a new firmware update to re-enable voltage control? The last update killed voltage control. I'd use the previous Oct 16th if I needed it right away, but the latest firmware is much more stable. With summer coming I'll be wanting to underclock and undervolt, along with many others I'm sure. Please make sure that all 4 hash boards respond to voltage settings, previous firmware only controlled 3 of them while the forth was stuck at 0750.
Bitmain wants to be fail and not profitable our S4's. DONT USE LATEST FIRMWARE ! i am planing to share this solution step by step guide in here when this donation adress reach 4 BTC. Can u explain what u mean about a fix & what it does??

I have noticed from talk in this thread that u have fixed the voltage on the S4, Whats the going donation to get access to this firmware?? Also with the voltage fix does that bring the fans more in line with your low fan firmware or offer this as an option???

I was just trying to keep it as basic as possible to try show what is possible rather than improbable...
I was using a chip count & speed of each chip using the S4 board...
I didnt really use any model other than current specs for voltage

Im going to rehash this one again cause its still happening.. & maybe i wasn't clear with what i was trying to say
Difficulty History
Date Difficulty Change Hash Rate Apr 05 2015 49,446,390,688 5.84% 353,951,052 GH/s Mar 22 2015 46,717,549,645 -1.50% 334,417,246 GH/s Mar 08 2015 47,427,554,951 1.59% 339,499,662 GH/s Feb 22 2015 46,684,376,317 5.01% 334,179,783 GH/s Feb 09 2015 44,455,415,962 7.71% 318,224,263 GH/s Jan 27 2015 41,272,873,895 -6.14% 295,442,739 GH/s
Is it that people are upgrading there old gear for new and when they switch off there old gear the new gear is only just replacing the old..
So say i had 1000gh of blade miners which then i upgraded to a S5 could this be whats causing the slight rise in diff only then to have it fall the week after??

I currently use an S4 and a C1 on nicehash and return is 0.96btc a month at current rate.... With difficulty going backwards on the next change it should stay this way for the next 6 weeks..

Bitcoin / Mining speculation / S4+ Possible specs

on: April 13, 2015, 01:26:04 AM

Just did some basic number crunching to see poss specs for S4+ this is what i go & how i worked it out
S4 runs 160 x BM1382 @ 12.5gh to achieve 2000gh @ 1400w
S5 runs 60 x BM1384 @ 19.25gh to achieve 1155gh @ 600w
without doing anything complex & just changing the chips in the S4 to the S5 chips they could achieve
160 X BM1384 @ 19.25 to get 3080gh at about 1200w.....
I think with a little tweak or adding a few more chips that 4000gh would be achievable @ 1500w on S4+
Any thoughts from anyone else??
Seems to be a good way to get rid of any extra S5 chips they have in stock!

All companies have some issue, I am a HUGE Bitmain fan though, I have over 80 S3 a couple S2 and now 16 S4s running. Never an issue with the S3's, couple small things with S2, but the S4's I am hoping is just the SD card reseat - they emailed me to try that out.
Other Bitcoin tech companies have a much more checkered past, with pre-sales, and over pricing to the extent you can't ROI on the gear. Keep going Bitmain, and I'll keep buying.
Bitmain is guilty of pre-sales and some would argue their gear is overpriced. Like the $425,000 "sale" for 1 PH/s of hosted power, plus electricity. M If u aint got nottin nice to say, Then u have no business being on this thread. This is for sales & tech support not for u i ant got ones to trash something u don't have.... Go to the speculations section for crap talk & rumour spreading..

Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain C1 Best Under Clock Settings? Freq & Volt?

Im using 275 frequency @ .745v for testing which is broken in the firmware (you cant set it in the dropdown menu it comes up as 2,275MHz) The closest you will get in dropdown is 268.75 which is 1085GH/s ...bitmain really needs to update the firmware for these but they do a great job for heating with minimal noise Ambient room temp is 72F Depending on which batch of C1 you have, there are different fans on the rads...it will either be 3 fans plugged into 2 headers which are the more powerful fans, or 1 fan into each of 3 headers which I believe are the first fans that were used....the lower powered fans use .1A less than the stronger ones not sure of exact numbers but there is a difference When Im done testing the Avalon for efficiency I will plug the C1 in to my APC and see how much power it draws at different frequencies...give me a day or 2 time permitting I was looking for underclock not overclock.. Also my firmware allows me to do 275 freq, Maybe u need to update ur miner

So a person with a 1TH machine would be better off that a person with 1000 GH machines right??
Even thou the computing power is the same... Cause the person with 1Th only has to ask the network once for a work block at a higher diff..

Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Diifculty Vs Hashrate
|
on: February 24, 2015, 10:26:12 AM

Ive been long watching https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficultyand have been watching the hashrate vs difficulty scale & have been noticing the diff is nearly upto 50b but the hash rate has bearly changed. As bigger & bigger miners come on board is the difficulty getting harder even thou the hash rate is not going up?? Is this cause terahash + miners are able to solve the problem quicker & does this mean the hash rate does not need to climb higher than it already is as long as the miners put to use hash at a higher rate?? This then in effect will push all miners out of the game eventually...

It sounds like your machine/rad is full of dust...get some compressed air or vacuum it out...what settings are you using now for voltage, clock speed and power supply etc...all my C1's are running just as good as day 1...well day 3 by the time I tweaked them all I have not tried to undervolt C1 yet as my units use anywhere between .745 and .755v to get to around 1.1TH which is fine by me At what feq are u using?? Yeah they are a little covered in dust... ill give that a go... I'm still not hooked on the whole water cooling idea, Its not much better than air cooling for noise If your radiator is on the ground or in a dusty area there will be a built-up of dust between the 3 fans and the radiator. The best way to clean them is to unscrew the 4 screws on each fan and pass the vacuum once the fan is removed. You can do that without downtime. Yet another good idea... Many thanks... I also had 2 Unused S1's here so (I know this sort of defeats the purpose of water cooling) i took the fans off them & plugged them into the spare fan ports on the C1 & i stuck them above to blow additional cool air down on the water blocks & chips. Now running 250 Freq @ 0745 volt = 1050gh at 50 degrees c I still would like to know the best downclock there is so in the future i can push a little more out of this puppy! Its the middle of summer here was hoping to heat the house this winter with these too..
