821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bringing ByteCoin Back to Life!( Update! Possible Fork) on: July 26, 2013, 01:35:29 AM

Even when I slow it down to 256 MHz instead of 350, and I split the work into three accounts, the Avalon times out every few minutes.  The reject ratio is maybe 10,000 times too high.

Can you try this for me?

Configure your username with "/50" following your BTE address? This will assign a higher share value, and should improve the rejects. We may have to try a few different values to see what works best for your hardware.. How many GH are you pointing to the pool?

anywhere from 20 GH/s to 80 GH/s.
I just restarted with the /50 suffix.  How is that number defined?

Anyone out there able to test my pool with an Avalon?

Pool's been up and stable, averaging around 7-8GH/sec lately. I've run it with GPU's and Asicminer USB's but no full on ASIC's that I am aware of.

Stratum is supported to deal with high hash rates.

Pool site is now available at http://digipool.no-ip.org

Point your miners to 75.156.208.65:6327 with your BTE payout address as username, and password is ignored.

Please let me know if there are any issues with Avalon compatibility.

I am pointing an Avalon there, it reports as alive.
my web browser doesn't see 'http://digipool.no-ip.com'
Are there any real-time statistics

Hey sorry, I put .com instead of .org in that post.. Correcting it now. Try here:

http://digipool.no-ip.org

And yes, there is currently a simple set of real time stats on the pools website.

I have about 1 reject for every 300 accepts in bitcoin with an Avalon.
I have about 100 rejects for every 1 accept with your pool.  The avalon restarts frequently.  I slowed the clock from 350 MHz to 282 MHz to try for a better accept ratio.  It did not help.  Next, I am trying to send to 3 different accounts, instead of only 1.

824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bringing ByteCoin Back to Life!( Update! Possible Fork) on: July 25, 2013, 10:42:54 PM
I have eloipool working on my server.  It is configured for bitcoin, and works with an Avalon.

I am having some trouble having it connect to bytecoin-qt.  It connects, but complains.  There are probably some constants that are not correct, such as the network id.
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I am looking for a legitimate Bytecoin pool. on: July 25, 2013, 10:30:15 PM
I have installed eloipool for bitcoin on a stable machine.
I have not finished the configuration for bytecoin.  I have unanswered questions.

Is the source still online anywhere?

I suspect some of us need money faster than others.  It turns out I cut my new PayPal debit card in half, and kept the old one.  I do have the IAFCU debit card in hand, however.  Would it raise red flags for us to transfer money between ourselves?  Is there a way to do that?  Do you want to raise that question yourself?

I don't get it.. what sort of red flag would it raise to transfer funds between two accounts? That is one of the more common functions of a bank/credit union, I would imagine.

Fear of money laundering or unlicensed currency exchange.

Don't try logic on this, it will just give you a headache.

827  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: July 25, 2013, 10:00:57 PM

...  I showed you the calculation where I projected ahead 11 difficulty increases with a 25% difficulty increase per round.

Is there a URL for that projection software?

828  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon users: bitcoind + eloipool configuration on: July 25, 2013, 09:57:21 PM
I want a bid from someone to set up eloipool under 64 bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.  I have it running in a virtualbox and can give ssh access, preferably through IPv6.

I am thinking that this can be packaged as an appliance and distributed.

I have eloipool operational in the virtualbox.

I wonder if anyone has any idea how to configure it for bytecoin?

829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ByteCoin 0.8.1 Client Mirrors on: July 25, 2013, 06:56:33 PM
I used Qt-Creator to make bytecoin-qt for ubuntu 12.10, if anyone wants to use my compiled version it is at:
http://d-h.st/Hb7

I did not find this today.

glad to hear this update. very much looking forward to seeing a balance appear in my iafcu account. they still haven't processed my check deposit yet though, so i plan to call them today.

i feel like the light at the end of this tunnel is approaching, but i cant see it because we were left in the dark so long that i guess i went blind.

and I also don't mind the $5 fee. they seem to be a respectable business providing what I consider to be a valuable service for me. any losses, financial or otherwise, associated to this entire fiasco come as a result of my own decision to patronize a business owned and operated by an idiot who ended up not caring much about me.

i forgive myself for the decision, i forgive IAFCU for requiring a fee to process my refund, and i even forgive Roman for being an inconsiderate moron.

just please somebody wake me up when this is all over!

831  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 25, 2013, 05:04:20 PM
Are there live hashrate graphs in Avalon web interface ?
I think I saw screenshot somewhere but I cant find it anywhere under web interface.

I am aware of a CPU load graph under status --> realtime graphs.
If you are on the eligius pool, you do get realtime hashrate and earnings graphs on his site.
E.g., http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/146J6Eqsu9ZDFq8VqzXPehYQdYHQZUUuuB

There is a WiFi real time graph, and it gives signal, noise, and SNR.  On one machine it works, on the other it is not reporting anything.  I thought I had set them up the very same way.  Does anyone know a toggle for this graph?

OR resistor -- I had never heard of that until I googled it. So it was a bad resistor that had to be replaced?

I don't know what was wrong with the original TP-Link.  The blue LED flashes about 1 second, then goes dark.  I think the catch all phrase is that it was "bricked."  I suspect that I can connect the serial port and de-brick it.  I don't see how it passed QC the way it was when I received it from the other customer.

I should probably give Avalon a chance to retrieve it and run a post mortem.  I may just offer it for sale at $10 on eBay, as is, modified, non-functional.

Avalon made some mods to the TP-Link 703n.  And now I have repeated them on the replacement unit.

There is a 0R that links the PCB antenna to the rest of the circuit, and there is a oversized pad conveniently placed where you can attach a wire for an external antenna.  One of the mods is to remove that 0R link and to attach the external wire, ground pad and signal pad, that goes to the antenna coupling.

The other mod is to couple the +5V from the downstream USB back to the board.  This is also anticipated on the board.  So basically, if you are good at handling small parts, you can move the same 0R from one place to another.  The part is about the size of two .. and I switched over to the piece of wire after about 15 minutes of failure with the original part.

New Update tonight.....

IAFCU asks all users to remain patient as they process requests as quickly as possible. The first sets of payments should be going out soon for IAFCU account holders.

Users with account balances under 3,000 USD are urged to remain patient as IAFCU must check each persion individually. IAFCU has informed us that they have hired more staff and obtained additional software to process users. Their initial estimates for these accounts is the week of August 5th.

Additionally, due to the regulatory checks which IAFCU must perform, the fee for fund return is now 5 USD. We are assured that this is the final fee and all account holders are subject to this fee to receive your funds.

International users will be processed after IAFCU is able to begin processing some US based accounts. Again, I appreciate everyone's patience as we work to return funds through this long ordeal.

Thanks for the update.
Did you speak with IAFCU?  If so, who & when?

shit, I would steer clear doing anything on the avy using its wifi, just askin for a fuckup.. =/ imo

My Avalon has run through WiFi since about July 9.  Hashing at about 80 GH/s.
I did add an antenna from an old router.
837  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need Avalon setup HELP [1 BTC] on: July 24, 2013, 09:24:06 PM
Ive been helping him out remotely guys, He indeed does not have a router which is goin to buy today.
Once can get rid of his silly pppoe connection in windows, which is interfering with freakin ethernet interface, that will weed out 1 of the problems.

Whats the official method to reset to avy to factory defaults? Ive looked up how to do it on that tplink router inside it, its stated to just hold the reset button 10-20 seconds then let go and light should flash for a bit indicating its on factory defaults.
I guess we will find out once we get the LAN setup behind his router when he puts it in =P

Google for OpenWRT and Failsafe

Indeed, you hold the reset button in while powering up the machine.  Wait until the blue LED does a fast flash.  Then you have a fail-safe IP number and password free account.

Although I'm a total believer in ProfMac having autonomy (and indeed my last post on this thread was to that effect), I guess I must say this is pushing me a bit past my comfort zone.  A 2.5% increase in return in exchange for unknown risk does not seem worth it, unless ProfMac is able to make stronger warranties than he has in the post.  (Perhaps instead ProfMac should ask for 5% of the mining profit of the machine he repaired -- for himself, not for us?)

I accept this as a veto.  My original machine is steadily hashing away.  The last power down was when I moved it to the cool basement, 8d 21h 3m 4s.

The repair went well.  The customer machine was down approximately 3 hours.  I rented bench space at the local computer repair business that my friends own.  Had a nice chat, they got to see an Avalon.  It's nice to have a dial-a-temp soldering iron.  I used a copper strand instead of a 0R resister.  Those guys are about the size of a pixel on your screen.

The nuts for the Avalons are something I have never seen before.  They are machined from round stock, with a slot cut in the top.  This slot mates with a San Francisco Bay shaped cutout in the side panel, and the ears keep the slot aligned.  The bolt goes through the Golden Gate area.  Fortunately, I learned long ago to make a shop jig when I am doing anything.

We had a double or nothing sort of pay plan.  He paid USD mileage for the 170 mile travel, but I get to hash with his machine until Friday and keep the coins.  No repair, no pay; late repair, minimal pay;  all bitcoin, no fiat exchange.

839  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC Batch #2 Income Sharing; arrived and hashing on: July 24, 2013, 06:20:17 AM
I have a second Avalon in my shop for repair.  It is hashing at this moment, and the statistics are online.

It is in a warm room, temp1 is 26°C and the --avalon-auto frequency is 353 MHz, and temp 3 is 49°C.
My original machine is in a cool basement.  temp1 is 22°C, --avalon-auto frequency is 347, and temp 3 is 49°C.

The repair is not perfected.  I still have to do some careful soldering, and some extensive dis-assembly of his Avalon.  The fact that it started working after my temporary patch now gives me confidence that my diagnosis is correct, and the repair is feasible.

The owner may want to sell his Avalon at auction due to the current difficulty level.  His Avalon, as is with some parts dangling outside the case, may be hashing slightly better (82/80) than my original.  I will let it run overnight and see what the data say tomorrow.

I may want to suggest that he may get more at auction if he sells my original Avalon with a 2 week online history and no modifications, instead of his marginally better machine but with a short hashing history and a field repair.

If he goes for the proposal, I will swap ownership of the units.  I may or may not finish the repair if I do the swap.  The repair may or may not damage the machine.

If anyone is not comfortable with the swap, please respond with something very similar to "I veto the swap" and I will not propose it to the owner.  I need to repair his unit tomorrow, Wed, morning if I am not going to make the swap-out.

840  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Store Batch 3 Status just went to "Refunded" -- now "Refund Processing" on: July 24, 2013, 04:34:12 AM

Yes, it is a simple way to view the situation.

There is a story in Texas that a Ranger asked a man, in broken Spanish, if he had a horse.  The man said no, and the Ranger shot him dead as a liar and a criminal.  It turns out that the man was innocent and had answered truthfully.  There is still bad feeling along the border about this incident.  In Spanish, there are two words;  the analogy that carries into English is asking a man if he has a bull, and then shooting him because he has a cow and answered "no."

Nice story, unfortunately it does not apply here.

cow --- to test equipment that has not been verified to work and has not been assigned an owner, for 24 hours under realistic conditions, then proceed to assign and ship it.
bull --- to run equipment that has passed QC and assigned to a customer for the sole purpose of gaining BTC.
moth --- to ship unreliable equipment that may catch fire.
