I forgot to order a WiFi antenna for my Batch #2 unit.
Does anyone have a vendor + part number handy?
Does a paperclip work?

You want to mess with Jaroslaw so here you go another dump specialy for bitcointalk forum

I think you are having some fun.
983  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #2) on: July 02, 2013, 07:27:24 PM
it seems the full shipment of batch #2 will be completed tomorrow or day after tomorrow...

You sure?  Mine is still processing, though I might be one of the last orders.

I'm pretty sure I was within the last 20-30.  I did just get my tracking number though!

Does anyone know if a 10 digit number is right for DHL?  I tried to put it in there tracking but am getting no results, figuring it's cause they just put it in.

My number did not work the first several hours after Avalon emailed it to me.  Now, it says my unit has made it to Hong Kong (a fair distance from Beijing)
984  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss Twins File to Launch Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Product on: July 02, 2013, 07:20:57 PM

If someone has a 401K/IRA this would be the only possible way to invest in Bitcoins in a tax exempt manner.

My ears perk up.
985  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 02, 2013, 07:14:36 PM
Would it be advisable to bring the PSU outside the box instead? It would seem to lower the temps.

Avalon previously recommended against this.  The PSU needs to be cooled as well.
986  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Sell] Avalon batch #2 by escrow, start at 60 BTC, cancel if it arrives too late on: July 02, 2013, 07:09:08 PM
I'm going to ask John K. to give a look-in. I don't think the three of us can agree on this. Even dogie's and my views are different (dogie's that the auction was implied to end at noon forum time, mine that if the forum time were several minutes out then the auction would be ending roughly at noon, but not precisely, end of auction to be defined by when I make a final post).

Perhaps there is another unit available.  This would be win-win.

987  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: July 02, 2013, 07:05:10 PM
Someone offered $12k for an Avalon. good trade?

There is a dispute between two bids of 155 / 156 BTC in an auction.
Perhaps you could get more money, and help the community at the same time.
988  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Sell] Avalon batch #2 by escrow, start at 60 BTC, cancel if it arrives too late on: July 02, 2013, 06:38:33 PM

I would respect the opinion of a trusted member of your choice that doesn't mind to read all the rules you have stated, and the winner pay a tip for his precious time.
Or I like this coin thing, in any digital version. I respect the fate also Wink

I have read all the rules, both as they were freshly published, and again just now.

My opinion is that the clear intent was to end the auction exactly at 12:00 BST, but that pesky little word was not affirmatively included.
I think that all other parties also perceive the same intent.

The only question that I think is open are these:  what was the time, and how do we know?  I think the problem exists because the forum time is not correct, something jadatkins did not have control over.  As auctioneer, he has authority to take extraordinary measure to fix problems.

I recommend to recreate the situation that the auction will end within seconds and there is only time to make one final bid:

Reset the auction to BTC 155 with michelet winning.
Open the bidding to the two of them, and limit them to 1 final bid per person.
The auction is over when Jadatkins makes a post saying that it is.  Announce approximately how much time you will give.
The unit has made it to London.  Remove the option to back out of any newly made bid.

Who has the highest order number in batch 2? (not that that matters if they go by transaction number for payment)

My transaction number is 5268c88176f24dcaae4e862e9ec1ad696a6915a20f1de9a7fe7042ad9b2f3b9b
I received my notice last night.
There seem to be about 30 more Units paid for after my transaction to that bitcoin address.

July 2
1   Shipment picked up    BEIJING & SURROUNDING AREA - CHINA, PEOPLES REPUBLIC   16:11

July 3
11   Departed Facility in HONG KONG - HONG KONG    HONG KONG - HONG KONG   18:02
12   Customs status updated    CINCINNATI HUB, OH - USA   11:24

DHL tells me they expect delivery on Friday Jul 5.  They can hold it for pickup in Minneapolis if I request.  I had asked if I could drive down there on the 3rd to pick it up.
990  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: July 02, 2013, 04:30:57 AM
I really hope 10% means 10%...unlike another company which redefined the term 2 weeks and 4-6 weeks...especially with how many people I know in Batch 2 which still see "Processing".

It looks like there are enough transactions to pay for about 30 units made to address 18QRSo26TqPZtH1guLfwNXZ2EfZpe7y8Ks after my transaction ID of 5268c88176f24dcaae4e862e9ec1ad696a6915a20f1de9a7fe7042ad9b2f3b9b

I got email.  My order is complete, I have a tracking number.

While off topic, I posted this nonetheless.  The Vinklevoss Brothers have made an SEC filing.

There is a thread discussing this.

I finally got altium viewer installed and looked at the board designs. The fuse definitely needs to be removed.

I thought maybe you could just remove the J1 jumper, but it looks like the usb-hub chip will still be overvolted unless the fuse is removed.

I installed Altium viewer, and I attempt to open Avalon_BP.PcbDoc or Avalon_BP.schDoc and I can't see that anything happens.  The example files all work.  I re-downloaded the files.  All is now good.

I am not "logged in."

Okay guys, just an update on my regular batch #2. I've contacted DHL and fixed some glaringly-obvious errors in the city/state area of my address as well as a client of mine who had his shipped to an invalid state. The DHL rep indicated that as long as the address and zip are correct, they should be able to figure out where to send it. I went ahead and fixed my info anyway.

Apparently customs in the US they are anticipating to go quickly. There seemed to be the impression that because of the holiday, it might only get held up there one day with a delivery time estimated at July 3rd for a package that left Hong Kong last night/this morning for me. That's pretty quick, but I have had nicotine vaporizers that I've ordered from China/Hong Kong go quicker, so maybe it will go relatively quickly.

One last thing: DO NOT SHARE YOUR TRACKING # WITH ANYONE. ESPECIALLY THIS FORUM!!

Share you payment transaction id.  It is more de-identified, and it is closer to the actual payment order.
995  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Anyway to block miners in China? on: July 01, 2013, 05:35:50 AM
Higher difficulty means more protection for the network.

As the diffculty increases, less individuals get involved in Bitcoin mining and it turns into a corporate venture. In theory this should protect the network, but it turns Bitcoin into a centralized operation. When these groups amass a significant amount of Bitcoin, they can control the exchange side of things. In the end, we get the same problems we are having with fiat currency.

For $7.80 you can buy a chip with about 800 MH/s capability.  Are you unable to get involved at this level?

And for an additional $200 you can get a populated board to put that chip on. Smiley

And you'll be making $2/day in the short term and never makes your investment back.

For $75 I can produce a 1st board of a design run that will use that chip.  Later boards should drop to about $20.

Anyone have any other suggestions to buy bit coins other then Campbx? Something like Bitinstant.

At one time, you could put money into Second Life with PayPal, buy Second Life Lindens with the account, send the Lindens to VirWox, and buy bitcoins on VirWox.  A touch roundabout and fees for everything.

Until he does that, people will have a hard time taking Bitcoin seriously.

Hmm... IMO that should read IF he did that then people would have a hard time taking Bitcoin seriously.

If the core dev at a whim decided to just "change the rules" and turn millions of dollars of hardware investment into electronic trash then Bitcoin would indeed be considered a bad joke.

In order for Bitcoin to increase in value, the general public will have to take it seriously. When they find out what's happening to mining, they will stay away. Million dollars of hardware can easily turn into electronic trash if bitcoin drops back down to $30.

They might stay away from mining.  I don't see a reason why they would stay away from bitcoin as a virtual currency to buy coffee or computers.

This is the strangest thread I have read so far in bitcointalk.
1000  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin Foundation receives cease and desist order from California on: June 30, 2013, 02:47:34 PM
The date on the cease and desist order is 30 May 2013.

TBF was required to answer within 20 days. Deadline for response lapsed 10 days ago.

Do we know the answer TBF sent? I like to read it.

The Foundation asked for and evidently received an extension to answer. There is currently a debate as to whether or not the foundation should answer the C&D publicly. This would satisfy the community but it could also piss off the regulators.  The rumor is that California officials were not happy that it was made public in the first place.

We have this strong and important tradition of openness.  Murder trials are open.  Is there any precedent that the regulators can work in secrecy?
