322  Bitcoin / Mining / If I wanted to build a single tower for Bitcoins.... on: March 14, 2013, 11:03:52 AM
If I wanted to build a single tower for bitcoins, is this plausible? Or a single unit with maybe 8 to 16 gpus? My big worry is honestly noise and heat because I live with other people. Money is not so much a problem. I just want to start contributing to mining and join a pool. I have been into bitcoin since about fall? of 2012? I believe. So I was wondering is this feasible if I just wanted to do this rather than have a gigantic rig or something i need like a huge heat vent for.

I just want to know if this is plausible. Looking mostly around 8 GPU's.

Thank you!!

It is such a scam, I was thinking of messaging the guy and telling him he is a moron lol.

Unbelieveable, and there is a few of these too!!
325  Other / Politics & Society / Re: *Pretend* Alternative Media on: March 12, 2013, 07:55:35 PM
Even some that have transferred to online, like CNN and MSNBC. I actually prefer going to the website over watching TV, unless it is something breaking etc.,
326  Other / Politics & Society / Re: *Pretend* Alternative Media on: March 12, 2013, 07:54:52 PM
I love alternative media, some sources suck, but it's the beauty of the web, I can choose which source I want to look at. Not like TV where it is just shoved down your throat. Yuckk

So I am assuming he just disappeared right? I guess it's a good thing. Probably unwanted attention...OR maybe he's still watching  Shocked
328  Economy / Economics / Re: Why use rewards instead of starting with 1 BTC? on: March 12, 2013, 07:46:50 PM
Just not good enough. Bitcoin will also reach 21M and there will be no more coins.

We're only half way there.  So your bitcoins will be worth half as much as they could be if 10.5M was the cap.  Still a better inflation rate than fiat.

"So your bitcoins will be worth half as much as they could be if 10.5M was the cap."

As in right this second. Worth half as much, right this second, if 21 million were the cap. If suddenly everyone had double bitcoins, to max out 21 mil for <insert reason here> they would be worth half as much as if the cap were 10.5 mil at this time. Again, right this second and only right this second; all endeavors, futures, and beyond is an entirely different and complex equation, obviously.

Sorry for the arrogance, just thought I would/should clarify.  Cool

Get um while there hot lol
330  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin business refunds on: March 12, 2013, 01:08:17 PM
I Imagine it depends on the value, because bitcoins is just a representation of that. You get different refunds in different currencies depending on the conversion rate, I imagine it would be the same.

333  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I see a lot of people using the word Escrow.. on: March 11, 2013, 07:36:20 AM
Like what happens to the coins if the person does not ship/or fulfil service and vice versa. Who decides where the coins go?
334  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I see a lot of people using the word Escrow.. on: March 11, 2013, 07:29:26 AM

Obv did that and read the sticky. I still don't get it.
335  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: As we hoard our coins, what would REALLY make you spend them? on: March 11, 2013, 07:27:09 AM
A sick deal on something. Like 50% below retail on something that's a couple thousand or more like a DJ Set or Something. Pretty much I'm getting awesome bang for my buck and know I can keep/get it back or turn around my bitcoins easily.
336  Other / Beginners & Help / I see a lot of people using the word Escrow.. on: March 11, 2013, 07:17:04 AM
I see a lot of people trading using the word Escrow for bitcoins. I do not know too much about it, except I have used it with elance in the past. But how does it work, and how does it apply to trading with bitcoins?

Just curious thanks

338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is competition healthy for Bitcoin? on: March 11, 2013, 06:49:08 AM
I honestly think just due to this explosion, that it will be like bitcoin as gold litecoin as silver and then bronze... who knows devcoin? Namecoin? But I think that is going to be the main way it will / should work. I think the problem is with acceptance it needs to start getting accepted by more e-commerce vendors. That way it will have less of a bad name for black market activities. Problem is government will want you to start tracking and taxing it, WHICH is why I promote the freedom on the internet. We have been pretty good until this point, SOPA and PIPA and things of that nature is going to bring world war 3, not korea or anything else.

If I start an e-commerce site I would love to accept all 3, and have different rates just like any currency in any game or any other 3 tier system.

I read "most" of the posts above, and here is my take on crypto-currency (any type)

People give them value, people keep the power.

---- Thoughts on using Crypto-Currency as a replacement to current currency
    • Until you purchase something point-to-point with bitcoin (100% transaction) you can be tracked down, even still then you can be tracked down to some extent.
    • Eventually you will purchase something for x.xx bitcoins / litecoins ... not the $$ value of the coins (this defeats the whole crypto-currency theme).
    • If you base the value of the crypto-currency on the paper money value, you are doing it WRONG...

The value of the currency needs to come from the currency itself, once you can trade the currency for the good directly without converting its physical value, it has not done its job.[/li]

---- Thoughts on using Crypto-Currency in conjunction with paper currency
    • Paper currency fluctuates in value as does crypto-currency, this un-stable system can make people money and it can also lose people's money (both crypto and paper) solely on speculation or emotions/fear. This makes the money "soft" and weak in times of turmoil and despair.
    • Crypto-currency can be controlled similar to that of bittorrent traffic. Governments can analyze the traffic that your sending on the internet and tell what IP addresses are using crypto-currency, or are a node at least. Using new acts that the government (US) has enacted due to "Terrorism" (I have my feelings about terrorism, I will not discuss it here [not a terrorist, fyi]) the government could get search warrants and search your home. Place you on a list that you don't want to be on. Potentially be held for conspiring to commit Terrorism... SAD!
    • There are some positives to having multiple currencies, both paper and Crypto, The main being that if you maintain your lifestyle bby using paper currency and only use crypto for your extra purchases like vacations, etc. you can create a slightly better life for yourself. You deserve it!!!! Most people that don't agree with what it is we are trying to do either rely on the government to give them money or rely on people that rely on the government to work in their companies for a low wage to only line their pockets more.

anyhow, there is more positives and negatives... just something to give a different angle on someone's views.

Very well constructed post!! However, you are horrible confused on a few of those things...
    340  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC-e on: March 10, 2013, 08:34:09 PM
Yeah you just have to deal with it, if you want nearly no fees, I mean even bitinstant has something. I just deal with it it's not so bad as long as u do it as needed. And once u get a card it's even better. I also recommend OKPAY!!

For nearly no fees, I guess just trading. Or if someone else has input. But ill pay the couple percent to have security and more than one way to access, get, and use my money. I think looking at other exchanges might help too, but I think most the time ur goanna get the bad side of a deal. Ill pay the 2% also not to get scammed lol. Good luck!!
