281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High transaction fees on: May 04, 2021, 04:29:47 PM
Bitcoin is for the rich, Doge is for the rest of us. Smiley

then why do you guys only show up here to advertise doge only while it is pumping and you can make some profit (the profit in bitcoins you invested in doge) then disappear the moment that doge starts dumping and we don't hear anything about it for months Cheesy
282  Economy / Economics / Re: Will China take over the world with the Digital Yuan? on: May 04, 2021, 03:58:09 PM
Makes no sense, settlements speeds or low fees are not the pros of a reserve currency, it's not called reserve because you spend it daily  Grin

it is not about the price or low fees or speed or anything else apart from who controls that currency. USD is not used globally because it is a good currency, etc. it is only used because of the big bad bully that controls it called United States of America!
now China has been replacing US for some time now and they have been trying to become the new world power. one front to replace US is replacing US dollar. Yuan and digital Yuan is a step in that direction.
283  Economy / Economics / Re: US economy is booming, but people are not seeing it. on: May 04, 2021, 03:39:18 PM
maybe people aren't seeing the economy booming because there is nothing to see.
it makes sense too because i can't think of any world where the government prints such a huge amount of money that it sets a record compared to that country's entire history and then see the economy boom!
and that's just the tip of the iceberg. we had a lot of jobs lost and everyone's financial situation get worse with the pandemic that is still ongoing.
284  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Dominance Update on: May 04, 2021, 03:29:44 PM
this is a good news for bitcoin if you think about it and it is signalling the start of the big bull market that is going to be very similar to 2017.
this is showing that there are a lot of brand new investors coming into the cryptocurrency market and like always they are fooled into buying altcoins. all these investors are bringing a lot of money into this market and will eventually end up only buying bitcoin after losing some money in the altcoin game. by that time we will see the bitcoin price spike big time.
285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering a 12 word phrase on: May 03, 2021, 05:00:05 PM
i don't think they call it more secure.

It sounds to me they clearly say that their system with twelve words has equivalent of 135 bits of entropy, compared to regular BIP39 that has 132 bits of entropy.
https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/seedphrase.html?highlight=bip39#security-implications

i was mainly talking about the motivation part of the link above: https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/seedphrase.html#motivation
that points out the benefits of this design compared to bip39 which isn't mentioning more security. the explanation below is more like the mathematical proof that electrum algorithm is not weaker than bip39 algorithm just because it has a version or uses different method.
286  Economy / Economics / Re: The Winklevoss twins worth $3bn Each for buying Bitcoin @ $8 with confidence on: May 03, 2021, 04:47:40 PM
Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss are currently worth $3bn each. For purchasing a crypto asset worth $8, making them one of the biggest and earliest investors in cryptocurrency. I would say their gamble paid off and today, they are worth a collective $6bn.

Are you sure about that? You believe they never sold a single Bitcoin? How they were financing their Gemini exchange?  It is funny how people and newspapers talk about them but not mention others who bought Bitcoin at way lower price then $8. People buy and sell. Some day trade some keep some part of their wealth in Bitcoin. So when bitcoin went x100 they sold 99%.

its because of two things, these two brothers are in the media so in a way they are public figures and they also advertise their services (that is the exchange they have and are making money from) so people end up knowing them and follow how much bitcoin and wealth they have. but others who may even have more aren't public figures.

another reason is that many people who bought bitcoin at lower prices didn't hold on to their coins or some of them lost their keys because they were reckless since bitcoin wasn't worth that much. seeing a potential in bitcoin is not something that everyone does.
see how many people refuse to believe bitcoin price is going to go up a lot higher that this current low price and refuse to buy it "cheap". the same people complain in a couple of years about bitcoin being worth $1 million and them having lost their chance.
287  Economy / Speculation / Re: May 13th, Bitcoin will surge to $70k or it will be dump? on: May 03, 2021, 04:29:16 PM
if Alibaba had such a massive investment in bitcoin ($20 billion is huge) they would have also accepted it as payment in their platforms which they don't. look at Tesla, they believed in bitcoin and they invested in it and they accept it as payment.

this news sounds fake to me, not just because what others said about size of it, you can still accumulate that much without affecting the market over medium time but because they don't accept bitcoin.
288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recovering a 12 word phrase on: May 03, 2021, 04:11:14 PM
Electrum only made more confusion with again inventing their own system and calling it more secure.

i don't think they call it more secure. they call it more flexible maybe because the way electrum seeds work is that they don't rely on a word list so you can create a seed with any number of words using any word list with any number of words like a list with 10k works. it also has the version in it that lets the wallet know the address type.
but security of it is the same as bip39.
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Supply Be Manipulated? on: May 03, 2021, 04:05:28 PM
Bitcoin supply has been determined by the developer, it is impossible to manipulate, unless initially there is wrong information about the amount of supply that exists. I don't think anyone can manipulate the Bitcoin supply, if that happens then the value will go down, as we know the less the number of bitcoins there is, the more valuable it will be.
It is a few lines of code if you want to edit the number of coins in existence you can do so if you have control over the keys and there is no need for the increase in supply and no one will be willing to abide by that if anyone proposes to increase the number of coins. Since this runs through consensus there is nothing to worry and no one is going to manipulate anything.

it is more than a few lines of code because the maximum supply is not hard coded in bitcoin's code. the way supply works is based on mathematics where the first block had a 50 bitcoin reward and it halves every 2016 blocks. so the supply also involves the POW and difficulty adjustment. that is why the newbie altcoin forkers always have problem making changes to bitcoin core when they make a copy of it.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla and market manipulation crime on: May 03, 2021, 03:47:52 PM
i don't think this can be categorized as a "pump and dump" because for it to be that they have to had pumped the coin themselves not just buy it and then tell others that they bought bitcoin. same with the dump. there was no dump in bitcoin, there was just a small correction that didn't even have anything to do with Tesla, their news came way after the drop started. the drop was actually because of the FUD about hashrate drop and panic sell.
291  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Adds PayPal As Payment Option For U.S. Users on: April 30, 2021, 05:17:21 PM
-It's hilarious to see PayPal come full circle. They banned buying bitcoin from their platform really early on, but it's now apparently too lucrative to ignore.

it is both hilarious and predicted at the same time.
it was obvious from the start that paypal had problem seeing bitcoin grow and wanted to buy time. that is why they added a lot of restrictions for their users. but as bitcoin keeps growing they are being left behind. in order to catch up they have to do things like this and start partnerships with the biggest bitcoin exchanges such as coinbase to make some money too.
292  Economy / Economics / Re: How a digital EURO may look like on: April 30, 2021, 04:59:25 PM
digital fiats issued by the governments and banks aren't something that concerns us because they aren't even creating them for the people. usually these things are created for some geopolitical power struggles. for example China is trying to make its own digital Yuan so that it can take over the world in currency too while kicking US dollar out by replacing it for good in the long term.
293  Economy / Speculation / Re: The next Bitcoin manipulation prediction on: April 30, 2021, 04:31:24 PM
you can't predict the next bitcoin manipulation ever unless you are the among the manipulators with massively deep pocket but even then you wouldn't be able to predict it because bitcoin market is not a sure thing, ask the whales who lost all their money in 2017 trying to dump bitcoin.
correct, and to be honest even the fluctuation in the market, its so very unpredictable also, how much more about the manipulation of big investors?
Well in my opinion there's no way you can guess when or where in the price bitcoin will plunges because indeed it always happened without any sign in the market wherein that can tell that there will be a huge dump soon or later.. Perhaps your lucky enough if you know how to figure it out.

actually when it comes to fluctuations and corrections it is not that hard to predict them. there is always a reason for a certain price action in bitcoin market even if it is hard to predict. for example last month we had the correction that was supposed to happen when price reached $60k and it could be predicted. but this month when it dropped for the second time since it was manipulation we couldn't predict it.
294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would having a Debate like: Bitcoin vs Gold win more crypto investors on: April 29, 2021, 07:12:15 PM
no i don't think so.
i think usually people who watch these kinds of debates already have some money in one of these things or two. if they are in gold for example they won't accept the bitcoin part and vice versa.
others who don't have any bitcoin or gold won't watch this or even if they do they won't jump into either one these specially bitcoin since they would hear a lot of FUD about it.
295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: chances of bank closing account if you buy bitcoin on: April 29, 2021, 06:43:18 PM
i have heard people say they closed down their bank account for buying bitcoin, but this might have been a few years ago.

there is some truth to that but the problem is that we never know the whole truth in cases like this.
there have been banks in the past and even today that are scared of bitcoin and want to prevent anyone from sending their own money to a bitcoin exchange to dump it for bitcoin. so they close their clients accounts.
but there are also a lot of cases that the user was doing something shady and their activities raised a lot of red flags that led to their account closure.

if you are worried then contact your bank and a lawyer and ask them about the laws you have to follow.

297  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: coinam inot working on: April 29, 2021, 05:53:36 PM
when you installed your wallet it asked you to write down a bunch of words known as seed. you can always use that to recover all your keys and spend your coins in any other wallet that accepts BIP32 seeds.

download electrum and verify its signature. install it and start a new wallet and enter the seed there in "i already have seed" then choose options and select the "BIP39 seed" check box.
if you go to your coinomi wallet and click on receive tab to see the address there is a derivation path below the address like M/84H/0H/0H/0/0.
you should also use this path for your key when you click next.
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Serious Question: Bitcoin Monetary Policy vs Dogecoin Monetary Policy on: April 28, 2021, 05:44:59 PM
As the first replier stated, inflation is relative and with such a huge current stock of Dogecoin (now or in the future), the flow (inflation) is relatively small.

you can't predict the future. all you can talk about is now. unlike gold that has an actual cap and bitcoin that also has an actual cap that nobody in its decentralized world would agree to change, the DOGE supply can change.
since in the past they have made significant changes to "bail it out" in the future as its price gets dumped more it is possible to do the same. for example if the reward per block is X DOGE today it could be come 100,000,000*X DOGE in the future.
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Serious Question: Bitcoin Monetary Policy vs Dogecoin Monetary Policy on: April 28, 2021, 05:30:29 PM
dogecoin supply policy was a copy of bitcoin because it is a copy of bitcoin. but because doge is a jokecoin not a real cryptocurrency and it doesn't have any utilities it started dumping and over the years lost its value.

in proof of work coins when the coin dumps the miners also leave and it leaves the coin vulnerable. so the devs decided to remove the cap and introduce a bigger reward to "pay" the miners to stay. of course with the pump and dumps and the meme-community it gained some traction that has kept this jokecoin alive for the time being.

but in long term as the unlimited supply and the huge inflation in addition to uselessness of Doge will start killing its price by taking it all the way down to zero.

for that reason doge has no similarity whatsoever to gold.
300  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: April 28, 2021, 05:07:58 PM
Good mark but at the same time these kind of promotions are created in order to increase the price of FUN token. Also, freebitco has purchased the most coins, so, it's in their best interest to increase the price of FUN. I believe the FUN will rise but at the same time, such tokens are created for gamblers, not for investors. After all, it's fun token and Wheel of Fortune is pretty fun to try.

i agree. this is mostly for people with higher risk taking tolerance and those who are a fan of tokens. i generally don't like taking bigger risks. and looking at the chart under PREMIUM it looks pretty volatile to me with an initial pump that got dumped right afterwards.

Moreover freebitcoin doesn't create bitcoins from nowhere. To give BTCs to people they need to earn them first and if we don't support them by gambling on their platform or by buying their tokens, it will result in a net loss for them to give us coins. If we want more coins from freebitcoin we need to support them.
when you make a deposit you are already supporting the site by letting them 1) cover user withdrawals 2)  expand their gambling game 3) to mine bitcoin.
you can read about it under EARN BTC tab.
