Is good time to buy monairo?

Idunno, but I put some buys in for Romero's. Smiley
I love me some Moroni

hmmm, we broke a little resistance shortly after I posted.

Does that seem odd?

Hey guyz i'm trying to mine xmr but xmrstak says tls_secure_algo false i dunno how to . can anyone tell me the right inputs for xmrstak, i have gtx1080ti and xeon e3 v1240 but i think cpu mining is not recommedded for this one. but how to mine with gtx? i'm trying to get connected to mineXMR.com or is this wrong place? Sorry i'm newbie

You need to upgrade to at least 2.3 and for the algo choose monero7

Also all your old configs won't work so just put the new version in a new folder or just delete the old version first

Does anyone knows what will happen with your coins on an exchage site like bittrex after the hardfork at april 06?
Will there be a new coin after changing to cryptonight v7?

Nothing will happen.  This is not a contentious HF but a network upgrade the result of which is that only those running the new software will be on the network.  The coins themselves don't change in anyway.  Monero forks every 6 months so it has gone through this process several times already without any problems.  Hard forks are done because Monero is still in very active development.  Please note that it is an entirely different code base than btc.  Most alts are just btc clones.  Monero is a leader.

Thank you very much.
I thought that a hardfork automatically means a brand new coin as well (and soft forks for smaller changes without a new currency).

A hard fork (code) does not necessarily mean a fork (chain) will occur it means that if the clients are not updated that they will not move to the new chain and if there are enough that stay on the old chain then a actual hard fork will occur creating 2 chains. The syntax is ambiguous and should be refereed to as a scheduled update as hard fork has become synonymous with a chain split. Monero has had schedules Hf's it's entire existence as that is when updates and bug fixes are applied. I thought that was supposed to stop though after the beta was over but meh, I can't remember and probably the beta tag should not be removed until all the pre scheduled updates were incorporated, I.E. Multi-sig.

You don't have to wait for a hard fork for bug fixes as they can and have been done in point releases.  I don't remember any bugs being consensus related and therefore having to be dealt with in a hardfork  Shocked

BTW bitcoin is still in beta  Wink

MorphToken Announces Support for Monero Subaddresses
anyone tried them?
they said we do not track any user data. is it true? are they trustable?

Dafuq is a morph token?  Is that like my buddy Brad who smokes weed while on morphine  pain killers?

It is not a token, don't like their choice of names but wateva.  You can morph one token, I mean coin into another, so they are like shapeshift or evercoin and their fees are lower.  Actually you can morph one coin into several different ones in the same tx.  That is their "thing".  They don't support many coins at this time but they do support Monero.

I met someone from MorphToken a few weeks ago and they are an experienced group from a different venture, sorry but I forget who.

Cake wallet has integrated MorphToken into their wallet which makes it very easy to use.

I need some help.  Ever since v0.11.1.0 I can not figure out how to send a payment through the CLI wallet feature.  I typed help and get this in the wallet help menu but I don't know how to format it correctly.

Ring size does this matter and what values do you use min max?  Also what is the minimum mixinn these days?   Can someone please place an example of how to transfer here please.

how do you generate a payment ID now has this changed as well?

the minimum and default for ringsize is 5 (that is the same as mixin 4) ring size has replaced mixin as the descriptor. No need to change this.

when you type help you will see "transfer" and that is the format to use. and it describes it as well

transfer [<priority>] [<ring_size>] <address> <amount> [<payment_id>]

you don't need to set ring size.  If you want to lower priority and therefore the fee use [1]  I usually just set the priority before a transfer by "set priority 1" so as not to be concerned with the order of things and then just use "transfer <address> <amount>"

for the PID, whoever you are sending to will give that to you.  If receiving then I am unsure.  I have found no need for it

With the new release and hardfork at the end of the month subaddresses can be used instead of PID.  They will work better but it will probably take a while before exchanges start using them.

Yep.  bullet proofs on the testnet already Smiley   Sounds to me as though both are progressing well thus far.   To the best of my knowledge (admittedly not the best) both are likely to be in the next protocol upgrade, barring catastrophic testing issues.
It feels like a few weeks ago that I first heard about Bullet Proofs.  Now they are likely weeks from release.  The Monero Team is Fast.  Spaceship Fast.  Never thought I'd say that  Cheesy

Slow down there buddy.  The release for the March HF code is scheduled for mid Jan. so that does not give much time for testing BulletProofs.  At the dev meeting 2 weeks ago there was no consensus as to when BPs would be released.  I imagine they are keeping an open mind but my guess is it will probably not make it.  I must say that more people are involved in development these days so things do move faster but nothing will be released unless it is thoroughly tested and reviewed.  Like everyone I hope it makes it.  It is a rather easy replacement to our current range proofs but it is new tech.  It would be the first implementation where money is involved so..............

Multisig has been tested and is ready for the March HF.  Being a wallet change it actually doesn't need a HF.  It is already on master and will be there and ready to use in the Jan release.  If BPs are ready for the Jan code they will not be used until March as they do need a HF.

Sigh.  Enthusiasm Crushed.

Reduced to level:  Uber Bullish.

Maybe I'm wrong to be so influenced by some troll on twitter, but but but...

single-output Bulletproofs code is merged and will be live as part of the March hard fork.

Yes he is a self professed troll.

Yes it is live...................on test net........and has been.........for a short while  Tongue

No decision has yet been made.  Yesterday there was discussion by many of the  core team, devs, researchers and contributors about how to release BPs properly while taking into account everybody's desire that it be done yesterday  Grin

I will be satisfied with whatever is the outcome as I know the decision will be made with proper perspective.

As the timing is tight and many would really like this to be included in the next HF, we may well not know if it will actually fly till the March HF arrives.........or whenever the HF arrives  Cool

'Uncapped' is your first mistake. Ripple is capped at its current supply 'Banking scam' got strong conspiracy ish connations to that, but feel free to believe that is the case.

You know what the fun part is? People like me can watch you guys bask in ignorance for months and years to come, and still regurgitate the same false arguments all the way down. This place is and has always been a perfect example for what cultism and group think might lead to, and in that sense, I look forward to the weeks and months to come.

I could swear I have seen the supply increase by billions this year.

Anyway it's good to see that ripple is p2p, decentralized and censorship resistant

Thanks
