Με αυτή την οικονομική κρίση, και με τέτοια έλλειψη εμπιστοσύνης στις τράπεζες, γιατί να μην πούμε στον μέσο Έλληνα ότι με το bitcoin θα είχε διπλασιάσει τα λεφτά του;

The curator of the attackerDAO was an innocent by-stander, and turned over his curator key to RobinHood (the white hat group). Now they can attempt to simply pass a proposal to withdrawal the 3.5M, but the attacker could split again and drain it again using the same exploit. Stopping that requires a targeted soft fork.

As explained by Lefteris in the DAO slack:

[10:24] but the private key is only the curator [10:24] The attacker has 2 contracts which hold the full balance of the Dark DAO [10:24] He can't do anything in that DAO since we are the curator. [10:25] But ... he can always split again. [10:25] Unless we do a targetted soft-fork. [10:25] In which case he will be stuck and we can go after him

the attacker was never a curator, he joined somebody else's split proposal and drained the funds into that person's child DAO. So the curator of the attackerDAO was never the attacker, but a random good guy greg.
Lefteris confirms:
The curator approached us and told us he has nothing to do with the attack and provided us with the keys to the account.

So the attacker moved the funds into a child DAO that was owned by someone else, and that random person now has 3.5 million sitting in his child DAO? And that person realized and then contacted Ethereum/Slock.it and provided them his keys? So why didnt the attacker move it into his child DAO? Now that Ethereum/Slock.it have those keys, does it increase the likelihood of getting them back?

Yup, that's right.
It takes a while for a split proposal to mature (at least one week). So we can assume that he hadn't yet initiated his own split proposal but wanted to perform the exploit ASAP, so he joined a random person's split (one that was about to mature) and then did the exploit into that child DAO. He probably didn't care whose child DAO it was because he never intended to withdraw the drained ETH, just did it for lulz (and maybe some profits on a short).

Fabian Vogelsteller from Ethereum Foundation is reporting that curator of the Dark Dao is known. Soft fork can therefore recover all funds!!! See his comments in:

Θα πρέπει κατ' αρχήν να γίνει αποδεκτό το fork από τους miners, και πολλοί αντιδρούν. Αλλά ας υποθέσουμε ότι θα γίνει.
Και πάλι θα πρέπει να περιμένεις ένα-δυο μήνες, και μάλιστα σε καθεστώς αβεβαιότητος.
Αν πάρεις αυτό το ρίσκο, μπορεί να ανταμειφθείς. Αλλά το ρίσκο είναι μεγάλο.

Αν πάλι πουλούσαμε τα DAO μας μερικές ώρες πριν, έστω και στο 0.0075 ETH (αντί 0.01), και πουλούσαμε και τα ETH στο 0.023, θα μπορούσαμε να ξαναγοράσουμε ETH στο 0.019 και θά 'χαμε καλύψει την απώλεια σε ETH.

Τί συμφέρει; Μακάρι νά 'ξερα!

Update of what seems to be current information:

    2.6 million ethereum routed to 0x304a554a310c7e546
    This is worth roughly $39,000,000 (down from $46,000,000)
    This has happened because of some weakness found.
    Significant decrease in exchange rate, now down to $15/ETH
    People who have splits related to Congo Split, Beer Split and FUN-SPLT-42 are urged to DM @griff
    The worth has gone down to roughly 8/11ths of what it was before.
    Anyone else is urged to spam the ethereum blockchain by doing:

Τα tokens υπάρχουν, αλλά τα backup ETH κλέβονται από το DAO! Άμα κλαπούν όλα τα ETH από το DAO, τα tokens θα έχουν μηδενική αξία.
Δεν ξέρω πόσα ETH έχουν ήδη κλαπεί από το σύνολο του αποθέματος του DAO.

Δεν ξέρω τι να κάνω. Να προσπαθήσω να πουλήσω τα tokens μου στο Kraken έστω και 0.004 του (ήδη υποτιμημένου κι αυτουνού) ETH;!
(Και μετά τα ETH για BTC...)

If, supposedly, everyone was only hodling, then the coin would become totally useless (used nowhere); then demand would drop; seeing this, the first one would sell, and then everyone, and then doom. In any case, market finds the balance.
Bitcoin's great power is, first of all, that it is used; as currency.
Let's say it other way: we hodl; price rises; then I can buy a new house and a Lamborghini! so I sell; balance.
The market always finds the balance.
