Great day to be a miner!
242  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: USA Import Duty on S9s? on: July 04, 2016, 06:02:58 PM

Thanks.... I just paid almost $70 each.

That is ridiculous, keep us posted if that charge holds true. I thought about trying DHL on my next order. I'll definitely be staying with ups

Will do, but see no vector that would allow that to change.

Anyone know if import duties vary by US State?

I've heard so many different things, I don't know what's true.
243  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: USA Import Duty on S9s? on: July 04, 2016, 05:54:52 PM
I've had to pay on every s9 I've ordered

I didn't pay anything on my Batch 1 unit, although I only bought one then, and this is two units.

Excuse me for asking basic questions:  But are you USA based, how much was the duty per unit, and were you asked to pay through a Canadian site (dhlmypayument.us which routes to mypayment.dhl.ca)?  I'm particularly concerned that a US Import duty would be paid through a Canadian site...

I'm in the USA. The fees have made no sense. My batch 1's averaged just over $11.00 each. Batch 4 was under $10.00 each.

245  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Exploring a group buy of s-9s' and of antminer psu's to be hosted on: July 04, 2016, 05:42:04 PM
I'm interested as well. Any reason why Canada?
246  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: is there any Antminer S9 group buy shares on: July 04, 2016, 05:37:31 PM
I'd be interested in doing something like this. I could host the miners. Maybe have someone like Phil control the wallet and payouts. That way one person does not have all the power.

Edit: mining on Kano of course
247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: USA Import Duty on S9s? on: July 04, 2016, 05:25:46 PM
My B45 order of S9s has hit the United States.  I've been buying miners from Bitmain since the S3, and this is the first time I've had DHL tell me I owe import taxes. Apparently the message is coming DHL Canada, perhaps because its the 4th of July Holiday here in the USA?   I tried calling Customer Support, which is suppose to be open, but got routed to an old DHL Canadian telephone that told me to update my phone records and call 1-855-DHL-SHIP - very strange.

Anybody else having problems today?

Is it normal to have to pay an import duty, or is this likely some type of screwup because DHL Canada appears to be dealing with things today (and Canadians always pay an import duty).

I've had to pay on every s9 I've ordered
248  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Where can I get consultation on setting up my own miner? on: July 04, 2016, 05:24:10 PM
YouTube has decent guides on nearly every miner

Good work Phil
250  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Is there an app that can schedule frequency changes on S7/S9 ? Thanks! Anyone? on: July 04, 2016, 01:09:21 AM
Wondered if there was a "task scheduler" type app that can adjust the frequency on the Antminer depending on time of day.
Thanks for any responses.  Smiley

Something like this is sure to receive tons of donations. Hell I'd pay for it, great idea.

I could really get on board with this idea.
252  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What is the best hardware to mine Bitcoins? on: July 04, 2016, 12:49:32 AM
Excuse me, I am Brazilian and as you might already realize my English is not very good. hahahah
I'll try to explain better, I wanted to know what the best hardware to mine, which is the most powerful, which is what has most benefit cost.
Here in Brazil have no electricity costs. I have available $ 100,000 to buy mining machine.
I heard that Antiminer manufactures the best machines. What do you suggest me?

With free power and 100k, I'd be buying a bunch of S9's
253  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Thinking Of Going Into Bitcoin Mining on: July 04, 2016, 12:42:54 AM

"..Now when setting up the mining in Africa do you know how reliable the power will be?.."

Talking about mining in Africa, there are no reliable source of power but, solar energy can be an alternative because there are sunshine through the year in most countries (i.e Nigeria) So, i donot think this will pose a great problem.

Does the sun shine at night in Nigeria?

FYI, most solar panel store enery during the day for a period of 8-12 hour's .
If, i intend using solar energy during night i can use accommulated solar power for mining

Thanks for your question @tertius993

Arlene

solar panel can store energy Huh that's new to me Shocked

Definitely would require a battery bank. Or you could use solar by day and grid at night. Still off setting the cost for solar will take years.

Sorry for the off topic..
I asked this question yesterday in the Software thread. Lots of views, but no replies. Maybe someone here knows the answer, if there is one.

Is there an app, somewhat like a task scheduler, that can change the frequency on an S7/S9 depending on the time of day?
That would be great to increase the miner frequency after 8:00 PM and decrease it sometime mid morning when the heat returns.

Any answers or thoughts appreciated! Smiley

Something like this ^^^^ would be awesome.
258  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury: "16nm... sales to public start shortly" on: July 02, 2016, 11:21:28 PM
To my knowledge Bitfury has done nothing that would amount to criminal acts.  The integrity of the company and those who run it can  be argued. I think a lot of people,  me included feel jaded by empty promises, by what once was a premier small/home miner company.
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: cryptoGlance [v2.1] :: Open-source, self-hosted, multi-rig monitoring tool! on: July 02, 2016, 10:26:35 PM
cryptoGlance working with antminer s9 ?

It should

Cryptoglance does *work* with the S9, but you won't get all of the details such as temps and fan rpm, I'm guessing due to changing from cgminer to BMminer which appears to be a proprietary fork of cgminer.

No BTM 0 page or anything, I'm sure there will be an update eventually Cheesy

Is this something that will be addressed in a update? Or is it not feasible due to BMminer?
260  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury: "16nm... sales to public start shortly" on: July 02, 2016, 10:19:18 PM
Been interesting watching Bitfury devolve from one of the most respected miner manufacturers,  to basically just a level or two below pond scum.
