Tried and failed to scam me...Always request trusted escrow services from a hero member for doing business with new users on this forum...or even somewhat less new...be wary every time you send your bitcoin to anyone...you may not see anything back, unless you know they're safe to deal with and have positive feedback on this forum...its like ebay stats with more swearing.

Ever since this member posted this, I've been requesting that we do a deal, yet he wanted me to download an exe file called autoEscrew...this seemed fishy so I suggested we use a moderator and he said to look up AutoEscrew on Github and that it was open source, I could find nothing pertaining to this program in this forum. I found a perfectly reasonable escrow option through hero member John K. Seller would not use a "human" mediator. Considering 50 bitbar would be an extraordinary haul right now, he is either a. trying to scam or b. was able to pre-mine, which I doubt. Thus I advise you proceed with caution if you choose to deal with this seller...I decided to keep my coins, as he stopped responding after I suggested that he find a reasonable hero member with verified escrow history to help broker this with us, since he was unwilling to deal with the one I suggested, this was highly suspect. I wouldn't want a human deal either if I had a computer program ready to rig the game. boo. I was hoping to pickup some cheap bitbar...if it seems too good to be true...every time...except ripple apparently, SCORE!

Economy / Auctions / Re: Auctioning web domain... DoYouBitcoin.com

I will consider reasonable offers...pm me.
If the site domain is worth buying, than $30.00 is a bargain my friend, but I will consider all reasonable requests...when I posted BTC was at 1 btc : 100 usd...thus .25 was $25.00.
Asking approximately double what I paid is my reward for having bought it first...if you buy it and make it awesome, the value will increase exponentially and the price you pay today will be negligible.
Look at Godaddy and what people want for some of those domains...I thought I was being perfectly reasonable by comparison, especially if the site name appeals to you.

Economy / Auctions / Auctioning web domain... DoYouBitcoin.com

Bought this with the intention of making a newbie site...but time constraints have left me hard pressed to do anything with it. Let's start the bids at 0.25 BTC www.DoYouBitcoin.comWe can do a straight deal and I'll transfer all ownership rights to you, or we can do escrow through someone on this site, but any fees they charge will be paid by the buyer, I'm not a long time member, but I'm trustworthy and have people here who can vouch for that...really I just want someone to make this site cool. Anything that benefits btc benefits me now too!

Seriously...where is the news about Coinlab...somewhere I feel like I remember reading April 8th, but nothing happened yesterday...accept the price shooting up like it had opened...am I to assume this is institutional investors allowed to get in before they go live? Clearly the end of March has come and gone...are they trying to do this quietly? I would assume the equivalent to the NYSE of Bitcoin coming to America would be big news, like headline big...we could make the front page.

Ok, insofar as I did not encrypt, I really like what you're saying, though I really don't trust myself fully just yet to do that...might know of a linux wiz that can help though, and I'll certainly show them this thread. I'm really liking the idea that even if it's corrupt there's a chance for recovery through the backup image. My buddy was reassuring me, saying he really doesn't think I have anything to worry about, the drive still works and shows some files...though it does seem to be registering some part of it as bad sectors. For now, I'll keep the drive non-op until I can get an expert to help me.
Obviously, I'll be taking many many more precautions next time...but at least there's a light at the end of this tunnel now, thanks...if I recover this, you'll have to post an LTC address I can donate to.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Please help! My wallets are trapped on a corrupt HDD!
|

My Bitcoin & Litecoin wallets (which I was attempting to backup) have been trapped on my HDD! I was running linux ubuntu 12.10, and started getting an error message with a red alert message, so I was trying to figure out how to backup my wallets when the computer froze. I rebooted and it started hanging at boot. I took out the drive and attempted to connect it to my desktop to see if I could recover the files, only to discover that it was not displaying the entire drive (it's 500gb and it displayed only 250). It seems like the drive may have a bad sector or something, and my wallets and private keys are stored on there alone, there were no other backups successfully made (in truth I hadn't found the damned file I was supposed to backup because I'm still unfamiliar with linux). I don't trust Best Buy or even local computer shops that don't know about Bitcoin, anyone know of anything I might try? I would prefer a professional take a look as I don't want to do anything that might further damage the data, but a professional that understands bitcoin and has a reputation of not screwing people.

Well shit...beggars can't afford to not throw their names in a hat, and as this is roughly my 5th attempt at posting one of these addresses...Bitcoin, ripple, xrp...liberty, blah...my head is spinning, has made me feel rather foolish...though luckily for the moment, it's of the Motley variety.
