1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important Ross Ulbricht to the bitcoin community? on: Today at 12:51:04 PM
I don't see Ross as a hero and i cannot tell you how important he is to the BTC community, it is also obvious that Ross committed a crime, but c'mon, the sentence he got was crazy and unfair. Did Ross deserve to go to jail? Yes, did he deserve two life sentences plus 40 years, hell no.

It’s not unfair in the eyes of regulators, considering that his platform facilitated a lot of illegal transactions, everything from weapons to illegal drugs, and even, possibly, prostitution. All those activities thrived because of Silk Road, and without it, they likely wouldn’t have had the same reach.

Maybe the government now sees that Ross’s original intention was to create a free market, which aligns with the push for decentralization back then, away from the eyes of government control. But it got out of hand, and that’s why regulation became necessary. If we want Bitcoin to truly prosper, a level of oversight is unavoidable, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing now.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which bonuses would you be interested in having as a player? on: Today at 12:11:22 PM
Whichever bonuses you may want and love the truth is that most likely the casinos after giving such bonuses would change the way games behave by messing with their RTP and many of us has experienced this first hand when trying to hit it big right after getting the bonus. So don't get all hoped up just because for example you received a big bonus and you are thinking now I am going to win big.
That’s just how the system works, but it shouldn’t cross the line into manipulation. The bonuses casinos give out are already carefully calculated to ensure they still profit in the long run. They’re not doing it out of generosity but it’s all part of the business model.

And by definition, a "bonus" isn’t something you get regularly, instead you usually have to meet certain conditions to earn it, and it's meant to give you a small edge just enough to slightly increase your chances of winning but not enough to completely change the edge on your favor.

if AI can generate it. Then AI can also solve them.

That kind of contest tends to finish quickly, and in the end, it just becomes a competition of who’s better at using AI to solve the puzzle. I’m not saying it’s against the forum rules, but I’d suggest trying something more engaging, something that doesn’t rely on AI. After all, we’re humans here, and it’d be nice to focus on creativity and skills that don’t involve letting AI do the heavy lifting.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which other presidents could make Bitcoin bullish? on: January 24, 2025, 10:24:39 PM
The one people least expected
The President of China Xi Jinping

That would be ideal, but China would need to change its stance on Bitcoin, from banning it to accepting it as legal currency. If we’re looking at presidents who could make a big impact, they’d likely come from major countries with strong economies. In my opinion, China, being a big rival to the US, could have a huge effect. Bitcoin would definitely get a boost if countries that aren’t allies with the US started adopting Bitcoin-friendly policies similar to those in the US.

I’m hoping China will eventually change its stance, but that seems unlikely for now. They’ve been firm in their position since the beginning, and shifting that would take a lot.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which bonuses would you be interested in having as a player? on: January 24, 2025, 12:55:42 PM
For me, the one thing that could really boost my winnings is free spins. I spend more time on sports betting and have tried a few sportsbooks where I’ve experienced free bets, but they’re usually small around $10 to $20. That amount doesn’t take you far. But with free spins, if you’re optimistic, you might hit $100 or even $1,000 if luck’s on your side.

At the end of the day that’s what we’re all after in gambling, (getting lucky).

So why not seize the moment and take a chance?"
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Strategic Bitcoin reserve - help for the world economy or ... on: January 24, 2025, 12:37:43 PM
We’re not even talking about how much they’ll consider as a national reserve yet. Based on what I’ve read, if they go through with it, they won’t buy everything at once. This makes it easier to approve since they can allocate funds gradually to fulfill the plan of making Bitcoin a national reserve.

Where do most national reserve strategies of other countries come from? Isn’t it usually inspired by the US? So, if the US moves forward with this, other countries might follow their lead, which would be very beneficial for the US. I don’t see any reason or obstacle that could stop this plan from becoming a reality.
7  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: About Godbex.io on: January 24, 2025, 11:23:35 AM
Same here, when I searched in google, it redirected me to godex.io/... and when I checked the website in the OP, it’s still in the ICO phase with very little info available on the ICO page. I don’t know, but OP should be more specific about whether its already running or not. If it’s still in the ICO phase, just be transparent and declare the real status of the project.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 PBA Governor's Cup on: January 23, 2025, 11:42:24 AM
OMG! TNT lost to Terra Firma Dyip?! It's impossible guys. I'm glad I didn't bet on this match, I was planning to bet on TNT Tropang Giga with a handicapped -10points. With these huge odds gaps in these early games of PBA, it's really scary.

I was shocked too when I saw the score. It looked like TNT wasn’t taking it seriously, probably because it was a non-bearing game. But in the 4th quarter, they did make a huge run, it just wasn’t enough to pull off a comeback. I can’t help but wonder what the moneyline odds were for DYIP, but honestly, even if the odds were massive, I still wouldn’t bet on such a bad team. They’re just too unreliable.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 PBA Governor's Cup on: January 21, 2025, 01:03:09 PM
Looks like we’re about to witness two upsets tonight!

The first game is done, with Blackwater pulling off a surprise win against the heavily favored Fuel Masters. Now, in this second game, SMB is also a heavy favorite but is getting blown out by NorthPort, who’s already up by 21 points as the third quarter ends. It’s gonna take a miracle for SMB to turn this around. What a night!
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many altcoins to hold at a time on: January 21, 2025, 12:18:01 PM
It’s tough to hold altcoins, especially the new ones, because there’s a high risk they’ll fail. The ones that pump hard often have an equally big chance of dumping and never recovering. If you really want to hold altcoins, I suggest sticking to those that have been tested over time. You can usually find them among the top 10 on CMC, as they’re more stable compared to others.

However, always prioritize investing the majority of your funds in Bitcoin. Even the altcoins I recommended (despite being tested) are still high-risk because altcoins are inherently more volatile.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: People who hold money will be poor soon on: January 21, 2025, 11:59:19 AM
People don’t really "hold" money, they save it. A lot of us do that without realizing that inflation is slowly eroding its value over time. However, not everyone is willing to take risks. If the inflation rate isn’t too high, most people would rather just save their money and keep working. That’s usually the mindset of those with a regular job, they work and save.

On the other hand, people in business are more open to taking risks. They understand the effects of inflation and know the answer is to invest their money. And, of course, crypto is a great option for that kind of investment.

we can see the inflation rate in 2024 of these countries. ( if we are in a country with high inflation rate, "invest" is the only solution).

12  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ross is coming home! on: January 21, 2025, 08:25:39 AM
yeah I know, Ross is a well-known figure in the crypto space, almost like a legend. But giving someone a pardon isn’t a small thing, so there must be a solid reason behind it. That’s what I really want to know too. Whatever the reason is, I’m just super curious to find out.
Can the president pardon such cases since Ross Ulbricht is serving a double life sentence plus 40 years in prison?

it says yes, according to Article II, Section 2, Clause 1:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution-conan/article-2/section-2/clause-1/overview-of-the-pardon-power
Quote
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

one example is Clarence Aaron....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_Aaron
Quote
Clarence Aaron is an American recipient of a presidential commutation,[1] after having been originally given a triple life sentence for helping to coordinate a drug deal. President Barack Obama granted him a commutation on December 19, 2013, and he was released on April 17, 2014, after two decades in prison.[2][3] The mishandling of his petition was among the reasons United States Pardon Attorney Ronald Rodgers was removed from office a short time later.[4]

Wow, someone with a double life sentence getting pardoned is huge news. I’ll wait for the official announcement about this, but I’m really curious about the reason behind the pardon. There must be some significant positive contributions he made in the past for the government to make that decision. Anyway, it makes me wonder, what kind of impact would this have on the market once it’s officially out in the news?

Trump just vowed it on his campaign, if I remember correctly. To get votes from the people and to be a hero of sorts.

15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2025 NBA Season on: January 21, 2025, 07:33:14 AM
I’m really liking the Clippers now, especially with Leonard back. Even though he’s still on limited minutes, you can see his consistency in shooting especially that deadly mid-range game. Just hoping he stays injury-free, if Leonard stays healthy, I think the Clippers have a real chance to make it to the NBA Finals.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and $trump: Where will Trump priority be in the future. on: January 19, 2025, 10:43:12 PM
The reason the community likes Trump is because of his promise to create Bitcoin-friendly policies. If he betrays that promise and focuses on pushing his own meme token to the top, it won’t last long. People will stop supporting him, and that includes his meme token.

Honestly, this shouldn’t even be a question because his meme token is still in its early stages, while Bitcoin is already very stable and backed by institutional investors across different types of investments. so chill OP.
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does Trump Really change his mind on Bitcoin on: January 19, 2025, 12:12:51 PM
Trump is a businessman, so he understands that the market revolves around Bitcoin, if Bitcoin dumps, altcoins will dump even harder. What I see is that Trump is using his popularity to influence people into investing in his coin, which could mean easy money for him. At the same time, he’s looking after Bitcoin by promoting positive policies to keep it stable and influential in the market.
18  Economy / Gambling / Re: Suggesting a feature for casinos on: January 19, 2025, 11:25:13 AM
What OP has suggested is really a good feature, but this gives only benefits for gamblers, and gives nothing to a casino, while everything should be balanced. Casinos already give a lot in form of bonuses and rewards, made automated features in many games, turning gambling almost into  deposit, his one button and wait if you get rich or not (usually not). When gambling is supposed to be an activity gambler do, observe, analyze, right now is something already as bet>leave>check.
Nah, just think of it this way, every feature a sportsbook adds is always more for their benefit. In every aspect, they want the advantage. Even withdrawal fees are often higher than the actual network fees, so almost everything they do is designed to make them money. If they don’t add OP’s recommendation, it just means they don’t like it or they’re not gaining any edge from it in the overall gambling activity.
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Polymarket prediction on the Price of Bitcoin this January on: January 19, 2025, 05:57:17 AM

Majority has put a bet between $110k-$120k.

So what you do think guys?

Personally, I'm with the same with those who put a bet, and If I might add, I will be in the middle at around 115k for this month.

The price prediction makes sense since it’s based on the current price, and with only 12 days left before the end of the month, there’s not much room for a huge price increase, unless something big gets revealed that could trigger a pump, which, honestly, I can’t think of right now. If you look at the trend after Trump won the election, the pumps haven’t been that significant. Prices just seem to be moving within a certain range or level.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I found a wallet.dat on the deep web with millions of bitcoins on: January 18, 2025, 12:30:20 PM
The only way to find out if it can be transferred is to try sending it to a specific address. If you’re worried about spending it, don’t worry, just transfer it without actually using it. That way, you can confirm if it’s legitimate or not, because it might just be fake.

Here’s what happened to me before: someone sent me a private key for a MEW wallet that supposedly had a lot of ETH tokens. However, there was no ETH to cover the gas fees. I decided to send some ETH for the gas, but it turned out to be a scam as every time I sent ETH, it would automatically get transferred out. Lesson learned,  Grin
