Someone should create a list of lies and omissions in this video. For one thing, I don't think Moneygram or Western Union are using bitcoin yet as this video implies or outright claims.

This is the slimiest most disgusting bitcoin related video I've ever seen. Truly gross.

Can you produce a youtube video presentation about the work you're doing and the goals you have for this project? I would really like to share it at my own Z-Day event.

Definitely we will have something made after launch as we are swamped until then we can have something by the 8th of March.

Thanks

Great! I'm looking forward to it.

When you say that you've talked to "the movement", to whom do you refer? My understanding is that there is no authority or over arching official as we are not an hierarchical organization.

Members of our local chapter which we are based in Toronto Ontario. They have since sent it out to the global coordinators through email. Listen LightRider we are doing our due diligence and are not putting anything up here that we do not have proof of. If you would like to keep voicing your opinions with no merit why don't you contact us directly and we can discuss it zeit@zeit-coin.com

No need to become hostile, I'm just asking questions.

I was hoping for a civilised discussion based on reason and science. Calling a group of people "zombies" and "brainwashed" just for the sake of it, without providing any evidence is little more than backyard bullying. If you have an argument, please present it. If you just want to pick up a fight, you will find none Smiley

To whom are your comments directed?

I have been a TZM member and coordinator for a long time now. I have been engaging this community with the idea of an RBE for a couple of years. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5373.0

I don't know exactly what to think of this endeavor. It seems counter to the core principles upon which TZM is founded. While I certainly am excited about Bitcoin and the technological developments it represents, I have always considered it a transitional technology to be exploited by the movement, but not in such a direct way. Creating yet another altcoin is probably not the best expenditure of efforts we can be pursuing. Many of our members are already donating compute time to worthwhile distributed computing projects trying to solve actual problems, and there may be friction or conflict in trying to encourage them to divert that towards mining for monetary gain.

I understand what you're trying to do and I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I do not think it is in the best interest of the movement on the whole. Even with that said, I, nor anyone else has authority over you to tell you what you can and cannot do. I will be following your project with interest and will be looking forward to seeing what comes of it. I hope my concerns are unfounded, but only time will tell.

I see your concerns LightRider. What I know is that the dev is a very mature person who has organized this more than well until now. Just imagine that we are 11days before the launch and most of the stuff is already ready.

I really like this and thats why I wanna trust this coin. And even if its hard to correlate the zeitgeist movement with altcoins, we people can support it and all of us work into making this thing succeed.

It does make the movement vulnerable to criticism, hypocrisy being the most critical charge that would be leveled at us I think. I think that trying to artificially crate more interest in the movement by giving away "free money" as it were may not be the best way to do so. It may distract from the train of thought we're advocating.

But it is my disposition to be concerned about such things, and they may be unfounded. Time will tell.

I only have one criticism...did you have to order them from Papa John's? Wasn't there a better pizza place in your location? I don't want to impugn your taste or anything, but Papa John's makes terrible pizza in my experience.

Quote
Because here in reality, what corporate raiders do is find companies that are inefficient and that can be broken up and the assets sold.  Sold means that someone else is buying, which then strongly suggests that the buyers are able to make better use of those assets.  Basically the opposite of waste.

Yeah, maybe i was exaggerating. That process can be a good purge.
What i was talking about is more like hostile takeovers where one firm takes over a competitor just to rip it apart.
Meanwhile, the efficiency you talk about is not directly related to the quality of the product or service the company delivers. Maximizing profits is more often than not the goal for these gutting operations.
That is for the good of the shareholders, not for the good of people in general.

See?  This is why I usually just skip over this thread.

Profit is the only objective measure of goodness that the world has.

I find it nearly impossible for you or any rational sane person to believe that.

You did good Gavin.  Just don't let us catch you conspiring with global oligarchies ever again young man.

I've accepted an invitation to do a question and answer session at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in Washington, DC on Thursday, February 6, 2014.
Congratulations on being invited to speak at the CFR, it's an honor and a milestone for the bitcoin community.

Really? How so, exactly?

Is it because they are a powerful bunch? The Mafia is also a powerful group of people; if they invited Gavin to speak, would you consider that an "honor and a milestone for the bitcoin community"?

Or is it because you believe they are nice, honest people?
Please don't be so naive. Many of these think tanks you all despise actually do quality work, you don't need to agree with their politics to see that. Read a copy of Foreign Affairs sometime and you'll see that the analysis is professional and comprehensive, whatever the policy recommendations happen to be.

It's an honor for Gavin to represent bitcoin at the CFR because it shows that some of the nation's top researchers take bitcoin seriously. Why else would they bother inviting him? Only the uneducated believe in conspiracy theories.

Let's not forget that "think tank" can refer to almost any social-political research institution.

Only the thoroughly educated believe their government.

As a CIA field asset I doubt he has very much choice in the matter.  Shocked

Being an admitted space alien though, he could call his home planet for help and/or rescue.
