Did you check for aluminum casting? Depending on production volume, it should be much much cheaper than milling
Yes, but the price for the casting mold is around 20000 EUR. :-/ One thing you can do is get a casting mold in china and bring it back to US for production. Your mold should be approx 5X cheaper. I know it is more trouble though... |

Where does the $200 price difference come from?
Metal CNC milling is much more expensive process than the plastic mold casting. Still hard to believe that the simple metal case costs twice as the plastic case + PCB + electronics + the embedded software... Esp. when produced en masse. Would buy aluminium Trezor for 1.5 ... 2 BTC at most. CNC milling is a very expensive method. The best way is to find an aluminum molding chinese supplier. This need volume though and quality is hard to control. |
