1  Economy / Service Announcements / I'm launching a new experimental faucet and I am looking for advertisers. on: March 05, 2015, 09:41:47 PM
Hello there,

I am launching a faucet because I have some ideas about the way they have developed.

First of all, I, like most people, like the idea of new Bitcoin lovers experimenting with wallets by getting some free bits. I like the idea of advertising by giving instead of manipulating. However, a lot of faucets have turned into ad-ridden mongols of pages. I think ads can work, if the advertiser and publisher are honest to the reader. Faucet owners expect to get money from advertisers and give money to visitors. In principle, advertisers give money to visitors.

My idea is as follows: A visitor doesn't just fill in a captcha, but they redeem a token received by e-mail. This token is not on an ugly page with 8 different advertisers, it's on a clean page with honest instructions. Imagine it as a full-screen background image with a small input field for the captcha. Then there is a notice about what the background image is about, en who sponsors the free bitcoins for this redemption.

I hereby am looking for advertisers.

- Do you own a business and do you want to advertise to Bitcoin enthusiasts? Then read ahead.
- I am not asking for any payment up front, this is why I think I can actually get something going.
- You indicate what you budget is, I have some ideas about minimum and maximum payment to visitors. Your input will be divided over all claims on a day, or a streak of days. We can discuss a lot about this.
- My system makes up who gets what, and I will deliver you the data, after which you can send the batch transaction to the network. I do not hold the funds anywhere in the process.
- If you do not send the transaction to the network and give me the txid, I will cover the cost, publicly call you out and offer the advertising space to tell what you did on the faucet for the exact same amount your ad was on.
- So, after I gain trust in you, you can decide what your budget is anything from 0.01 BTC (probably less in the first weeks) a day will suffice. What do you get?
---- All users will receive an e-mail with a unique redemption-link and a statement about the fact you sponsor the free bitcoin.
---- If they choose to redeem the token today, they will go to a page themed by your brand, linking to your business, telling your business is sponsoring this. In a stylish and modern way.
---- Only these visitors who visit the redemption page and perform the captcha action cost you money.
---- If they are engaged visitors, who come every day, they get streak bonus, a bigger share of the giveaway of the day.

Are you interested? Contact me, I am not looking for offers since the minimum is 0.01 and I cannot image that going away in the first days. So I am more looking for long-term discussion about advertising deals. I am looking for a way to make some bits in the long term, by asking a fee from the advertisers. However, in the first months I would be extremely happy if this would work with advertisers paying visitors directly, just for the fun of it. I am a professional Ruby on Rails developer and have the system fully built. I am hoping to find some people who are willing to invest in this idea and have suggestions for the advertisers backoffice I still have to build. But if you are willing to give it a try with 0.01 BTC, I am more than happy to give you the spot Smiley So don't hesitate to contact me!

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction reversability would be a good thing on: March 12, 2014, 01:51:20 PM
I think this has been discussed enough, and I don't hear new arguments. Reversal of transactions is possible if the receiver wants to, if not, he only risks fraudulent chargebacks. For all other 'distrust' issues, you go for escrow services, which is also reversible.

7  Economy / Auctions / Buildaminer.com domain for sale on: March 06, 2014, 11:43:17 AM
Hello,

I'm selling the domain name buildaminer.com, since I do not want to keep the site updated.
The auction starts at 0.1 BTC, the sale will be done through a person on the forum with trust from both parties.

I have not sold anything before on the forum, so comments with conventional escrow methods would be appreciated.

Happy bidding, hopefully.

Vraag is of we snel weer erboven gaan zitten. Persoonlijk denk ik van niet en zullen we een tijdje tussen 500 en 800 USD blijven hangen totdat de markt "klaar is" om boven de 1000 USD te kruipen.

time will tell! Smiley

11  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Idea for a mixer that can't run with your coins on: October 28, 2013, 10:52:52 PM
Isn't it contraproductive to link Alice's old Bitcoin to the Bitcoin she receives in the blockchain?
If the coins are locked until another transaction has transpired, miners (and therefore everybody) will see that, even after said transaction has transpired.

People can search the blockchain to see if there was ever a condition that stated x Bitcoin had to be sent to Alice's address in order to unlock Bitcoins. Leaving Alices new 'mixed' bitcoin forever linked to her old ones.

Or do I see this wrong?

I guess you'd need some kind of captcha, otherwise everybody will put their old gpu's out mining spam and moderating the crap out of it.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the plural & capitalization of bitcoin? on: October 26, 2013, 01:09:25 PM
... should it be "Why do bitcoin have value?" because that sounds fucked when reading it in my head.

It sounds fucked becouse it's "Why does Bitcoin have value?".

Plural is difficult. The system revolves around chopping Bitcoin up and putting it back together so in essence there is not 'a Bitcoin'.
But this compare this:

"I've moved all of my Bitcoin to a cold wallet" - "Where did you put it?"
"I've moved all of my Bitcoins to a cold wallet" - "Where did you put them?"

'All of my Bitcoin' sounds goot to me, but 'Where did you put it?' doesn't seem right.
'All of my Bitcoins' can't be correct, however, I do like 'where did you put them?'.

Difficult...
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Medium on: October 26, 2013, 12:58:44 PM
The founders of Twitter started a new blogging platform: Medium.
The whole system is minimalistic just like Twitter, but users are able to post full blog posts with formatting.
Medium is based around the system of collaboration through 'collections', a group of bloggers can create a closed collection in which they can all write independently and open collections are free for everybody to write in, like subreddits.

I started an open collection 'Bitcoin Talk' in the hope that Bitcoin will also be represented on this new medium. I can imagine some people that are willing to discuss Bitcoin, but aren't tech savvy enough for a forum like Bitcointalk, hopefully this will pull them into the community.

If you want to write something, feel free to post anything you like. Also, if you or your business have a Bitcoin related blog, you can just link to your blogpost in Bitcoin Talk.

Cheers

I'll check it out. Sounds like a good idea to spread the word about bitcoin.

Cool cool cool, when I posted my first personal post, I saw someone else beat me to it.

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: should I just get used to this? on: July 27, 2013, 08:01:45 AM
Yes, you should get used to it. Or you can just choose to stop giving your decentralized cash away to strangers.
If you're so aware of the safety of information on you computer, why does it seem to be impossible to manage your own Bitcoin? Storing Bitcoin with third parties, is not something I recommend anybody with a 'heavily firewalled with encrypted FS linux'.

To get back to the car analogy. Showing of you know what side of the road you are supposed to drive on doesn't make you a good driver. And if you're such a good driver: Drive the thing yourself and don't use e-wallets.
