1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Possible issue with Fan speed @ 95-99% on: June 19, 2016, 09:06:11 AM
I usually don't tinker with the settings with my miners- but i'm going to start keeping my s7's outside and i know the summer heat is going to raise their temperature. To attempt to offset this i'm adjusting my miners to run at 4,000 - 5,760 Rpm. (about 95-99%)

Aside from increased noise/electrical usage- what issues may occur from this change?
2  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: (hacked) S7LN Group Buy on: June 19, 2016, 09:03:58 AM
I'm interested in the possibility of acquiring one of these.
3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Questions about outdoor bitcoin mining on: June 19, 2016, 08:08:34 AM
I want to build an outside bitcoin mining box that will have a roof and vents for Antminer s7, but will condensation be a problem? what about in the winter will it be too cold for it? I live in Canada. In the summer would it be too hot? Rain won't be the issue I will come up with a pretty good box design. What if it shuts down for what ever reason will it be okay?

Hey, i'm in the Midwest united states south of lake Michigan and I actually had this idea a few days ago and I was putting it together today, I should be finished tomorrow and i'll post some pictures for you and get some feed back from the community.

...think....

Am I going MAD, or did the word "think" escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic land mass!

but, to stay on topic- it will be quite interesting to see if any real information comes out soon- or will they just slip by like a thief in the night?
5  Economy / Goods / Re: Alpaca socks; The best place to buy on: June 14, 2016, 08:16:24 PM
Has anyone bought the famous socks around here?
6  Economy / Goods / Alpaca socks; The best place to buy on: June 13, 2016, 04:00:57 AM
I've been looking around the internet trying to find were I can buy alpaca socks with BTCBTC but I found it quite challenging actually... I found the 'original' company who started doing it years ago has gone 404 for the most part.

Where have you gotten your alpaca socks from? Do you like them?
7  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Lifetime pool luck for antpool vs kano.is or why aren't you mining with kano.is on: May 30, 2016, 04:09:46 PM
apparently i'm not looking hard enough because i cant seem to find the luck stats for slush any more- just articles.

What about compared to Slush? I've heard they've had a good streak recently.

Anyone notice that hashrate has started climbing fairly fast again, after almost a month of near-flat?

Smells a bit of SOMEONE bringing some new gear online somewhere.....

Fwiw the guy from Mining Sweden was going on about a Bitmain S9 being ready for release very soon, can't find the post at the mo.

Does anyone have confirmation of this possibility?

i emailed Tommy at Mining Sweden and here's his response

"Hello,

No there is no spell error.
I can't tell you details about them, you will have to wait until Bitmain releases them officially but I know they are coming since a key person at Bitmain gave me that information Smiley  "

note that it's still imo speculation till BMT offically says otherwise, but i think it's pretty safe to say S9 has gone thru/currently in production

Well I am interested on what the spec's on this one could be... unless they have access to, or created their own 16nm technology it seems to me the s9 would be just a bigger size of the s7.

Or they could have increased power efficiency by using gold wires.

As for the intricacies of the mining technology, i'm fairly new; aside from the chips themselves- what is the greatest use of power in the miners?

I've been using bitmain for awhile now, and I have to agree with the guys above- BitFury is just a strip tease.

I don't know how any self respecting company can be two months late and have no publicly given reason as to why.
12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: GekkoScience Compac USB [ missing zlib1.dll ] on: May 02, 2016, 09:09:02 PM
Hey, its working great- a strong 6.9 Gh/s for the moment! I really appriceate the walk through- i was getting burned out digging through all the pages. Hopefully this thread will help someone else out later.

Ps- Have you bothered with the 'tweaking' process?
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: GekkoScience Compac USB [ missing zlib1.dll ] on: May 02, 2016, 08:42:11 PM
Thank you so much, I think i've got this working now. I'll post one more update when it's hashing away

Where did you download your cgminer from?

When I see a page that looks like the two below I dont know what i'm supposed to be downloading from them.

https://bitbucket.org/TheKano/cgminer-binaries/src

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: GekkoScience Compac USB [ missing zlib1.dll ] on: May 02, 2016, 08:12:46 PM
Well there were 2 versions, I don't have windows xp so I downloaded the first one from this link..

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/zadig/

I don't know what else i'm supposed to do.
16  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: GekkoScience Compac USB [ missing zlib1.dll ] on: May 02, 2016, 07:38:15 PM
Yep, I have the Zadig installed, is the file located on the usb miner- because I've not plugged it in yet. I decided it would be best to get the software setup first before just sticking it in.
17  Bitcoin / Mining support / GekkoScience Compac USB [ missing zlib1.dll ] on: May 02, 2016, 07:08:27 PM
I've been mining with the S3 and S7 miners for awhile, and for fun I bought a GekkoScience Compac USB but i'm having some challenges getting the software set up.

When I go to install the "gekko cgminer" my computer says that the zlib1.dll is missing.

I've found that this file should have been included in the special Gekko cgminer but wasnt, where is a safe/trusted source to find this file?

For completeness, these are the post's I referenced.

This appears to be the original cgminer, and i'm not sure if this file i'm looking for exists somewhere in this directory
http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/

In addition, will i have to go through this process to set up the gekko miner?

Any help or clarification would be appreciated
