is anyone using a R9 290 non-x and R9 290x together?
What is the difference in hasing power between them at roughly same GPU and mem clocks?

Not much difference....
GPU0 and GPU2 on risers = 290s, GPU1 in PCI slot = 290x. All 3 x GPUs are modded with Stilt ROM.
Claymore v8, -i 6, W10, Celeron 1840 on ASrock H81 Pro BTC, 8GB RAM, 24-34GB Windows Virtual Memory.

The 290X speed is 280 while the 290 speed is 264. So that is about 6% differece. If the frequency is the same, that is still some increase.
