I was very quickly outbid and it went far outside my budget. but it is a beautiful piece.
I think I got outbid within 60 seconds . But it was the most Glorious 60 seconds... you sir were on fire Thank you so much for being part of it One thing we've learned is that 72 hours for an auction isn't 3 days its 4... its 1 day too long Future auctions will be 48 hours Anyways... thank you again

This is a great piece of art, wish you all the best with the auction! I guess that this does not work like @cryptograffiti previous lightning auction, where the first person to bid the smallest amount being the winner... At least, if all the others higher bidders above me are just bluffing, I still have chances winning this auction... Hey Tweetious Thank you so much for taking part... you helped get the momentum going... this is a massive learning curve for us no this is not like @cryptograffiti's Black Swan... I love that piece, one of my favourites of his... and the auction I missed (because it was so quick obviously lol) but I guess it went to the first person to type in 1 sat + tx fees ... no this is more of the dictionary definition of an auction, competitive bidding, highest bid wins Cryptograffiti's I think was pure art... the auction itself was a one-off piece of pure art made by https://twitter.com/notgrubles @notgrubles ... it was all a statement about little is big... the smallest amounts buying the smallest piece of art that's about a massive event He's a clever guy that Cryptograffti ... much love and respect for him and grubles too This piece is much more literal... it's a phoenix taking flight holding a bitcoin and its launching the first platform doing traditional auctions on lightning thats going to contribute to building out the economy, apps, dapps, built on top of bitcoin layer 2 Anyways... apologies for waffling on here... thank you again my friend thank you

Economy / Collectibles / Relentless Optimism - Worlds first on a lightning network auction platform

Hello folks,
Finally we have created live auctions on the Lightning Network... it's an enormous honour to be the first bitcoin artist to release a piece of work on the platform
The auction will be held on the Scarce City website https://scarce.city/ today at 19:00 UTC, 2pm ET, 11 PST
Relentless Optimism
It's a collaborative piece between myself and my girlfriend mosaic.rocks
It's is a one-off 1/1 unique piece - we couldn't make it the same if we tried
Materials: Oak Veneer top, Italian Smalti glass, high density fibre board, Beeswax, wood oil, 22 carat gold leaf... and a flame torch to singe the wings

The full description with detailed closeups and video is on my site here:
https://hodlr.rocks/collaborations/the-bitcoin-phoenix/
Twitter https://twitter.com/HodlrDotRocks/status/1334492800071716866?s=20
The postage estimate is based on going from the UK to the USA West Coast... since COVID this has doubled... anywhere else in the world it's about 1/4 the price... I also will be giving it some serious packaging

Economy / Collectibles / New Work - "The Invisible Hand - Satoshi Prepares for Record Breaking Highs"
|
on: October 24, 2020, 10:29:17 AM
|
A return to the Satoshi Series... this is No.7 "The Invisible Hand - Satoshi Prepares for Record Breaking Highs" Dimensions: 12inch/30.6cm diameter wide and 1.8inch/4.7cm deep
Materials: Repurposed vinyl records, high density fibre board, acrylic paint, neon paint
Price: £369 payable in BTCThe video is here: https://youtu.be/ZKKwooVZ8ZA The Story… Humble Satoshi had finished tending his land and took a few moments to enjoy the view of his creation… in the distance he saw the new range of a metropolis cityscape emerging
Bitcoin had started to enter fully into the consciousnesses of the masses and was beginning to be acknowledged by the all consuming city slickers
It was then the news of a pandemic really hit and the market took a tumble… All markets round the world took a predictable nose dive… even bitcoin whose price movements seemed ambivalent to traditional markets got smacked down by the oh so very weak hands of the greedy get rich quick herd
Satoshi raised his staff and aligned it with the will of the people, the hash power and the trust, and guided it towards transactions
It didn’t to last long… laughing at the feeble fingers of the spineless greedy, the bulls began to charge, the cyberhornets and honey badgers momentarily stopped drinking on the cherry blossom and headed straight onto the action… the alpacas put on their best socks… and the hodlr’s of last resort did what they did best…
nothing…
…apart from eating a few more tacos, opening a few more beers and flamboyantly stuffing more pop corn in their faces than usual… for they indeed, loved this shit
Within a month normal the NgU factor had returned to normalExplanation of ElementsThe purpose of this piece was to bring the Satoshi Series/Story up to date, move the mountain range along a bit and I wanted to highlight a significant moment in history that highlighted the true Free Market nature of bitcoin
The 2017 peak provided great detail, but time has moved on significantly… The mountain range (bitcoin price) now spans 15th July 2019 – 28th September 2020
Just in front of it, in silhouette black, you will see the Transaction graph over the same period… We’ve all heard of the “Invisible Hand” of the market as described by Adam Smith (The Theory of Modern Sentiments 1759)… mainstream economists say this happens today… but in truth in Keynesian economics this is usually the government getting involved…
However, we saw it here in the free market of bitcoin
If you align yourself directly to the centre of the piece you will see Satoshi’s “Invisible Hand” doing it’s thing If you believe “We are all Satoshi” then you can see the free market here at play… good people, the bulls, honey badgers, alpacas, cyberhornets, you and I, acting in our own self interest but with a common belief, turned a manufactured situation of the weak and greedy into something that will continue to benefit us all
I love the idea of redefining what a picture frame should be… a part of the piece itself… in this case I used vinyl records as a play with the metaphor of “Record Breaking All Time Highs”
On the reverse side I reused the inner sections of vinyl to act as the hanging system for a simple screw in the wall I laughed when I found these "CLASSICAL GOLD II" records... I can not promise they all have them... half of them do Each piece has an NFC tag embedded and will be connected to a Certificate of Authenticity (certificate of existence) provided by Scare.City https://scarce.city/
I hope you enjoy it as much as I have making it

Economy / Collectibles / Cryptoanarchy 1.0 - The pill for socioeconomic ill - just 7 left

Cryptoanarchy 1.0 The pill for socioeconomic ill 30 pieces made… 7 now availableby me Chiefmonkey of https://hodlr.rocks hope you enjoy it Price: £200 each payable in BTC
Dimensions: 21cm long (funny that) X 9.369cm high X 3.369cm deepYouTube Video: https://youtu.be/O6iblbJH_Jg First of all you see Satoshi… I based my version here on the incredible Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro… so this is Satoshi the Redeemer… in his hands you can see scales… the scales represent balance for humanitarian justice, economics, and the environment
In the background you see the rising sun of hope and that the clouds have a silver lining and to signify that despite our current dark times, good times are ahead
So what I’m saying here is that Satoshi the Redeemer is going to be delivering balance to the world
To see what is fundamental to this justice you will need to spin the piece around The all seeing eye is now directly in the public’s sights… with transparent and censorship resistant technology like bitcoin and cryptography the tables can now be turned in the favour of the people, humanity and the environment
Healthy societies that serve first the people and the planet, operate in total transparency whilst the fundamental human right, the right to privacy is upheld
The alpha and omega, the first and last letters of the greek alphabet (since 8th century BC) support the message that privacy is the be all and end all… for privacy is the foundation of freedom of speech
The writing on the reverse side:
“Vires in numeris: SHA256” – We have strength in numbers both in terms of people and in cryptography “Privacy is the power to selectively reveal oneself to the world” is a quote from Eric Hughes A Cypherpunk’s Manifesto (1993) Edition number – I have made 30 in total, your edition number is labelled here
The Bitcoin Pill design… a salute...
I was originally going to do a red pill blue pill design… I still might in the future… but this made sense to do a riff off of Lucho Poletti’s orange bitcoin pill… it was also a thank you, and a salute to a fellow crypto artist for their inspiration

Economy / Collectibles / Sousveillance - Observation from below - New Cypherpunk Crypto Art
|
on: April 06, 2020, 10:33:02 AM

Sousveillance “Civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy. The savage’s whole existence is public, ruled by the laws of his tribe. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men.”Ayn Rand“If the right to privacy means anything, it is the right of the individual, married or single, to be free from unwarranted governmental intrusion.” William J. Brennan
82cm wide X 60cm high X 6cm deep Cost £2200 (payable in BTC) Only 5 will be made – 4 remaining Please get in contact with me through the website https://hodlr.rocks
Sousveillance is about the technical ability that we can have in a healthy society to allow the individual the right to privacy whilst removing the Governments practice of secrecy and making them transparent and accountable.
We can do this through the use of open source, privacy focussed and decentralised technologies… it’s early days but the basic infrastructure is there and a multitude of solutions, startups, and grass community initiatives are pioneering the way
I designed Sousveillance to look like a giant eye… the layering around the outside is representative of the organic nature of society and how blockchain technology will eventually be seamlessly blended into it… the blue cornea is made up of a hexagonal structure representing the technical nature of a decentralised technology
The pupil is the “All seeing eye”

This eye can be seen all over the world from the Freemasons to the American $1 bill to the logo of the British Security Service MI5 (logo circa 50’s-70’s)

The eye that I depict on my piece has a tear drop… the tear drop has two meanings…
1) the tear drop tattoo, which has numerous meanings, in this case it means the killing or murder of a fellow human being
2) the tear represent sadness, the game is over, the reign of oversight is coming to an end
The two circles of beings around the outside are us… humans, individuals, decentralised and working in cooperation… the technology allows us to keep an eye on the establishment, ensuring that governments are there to serve us… the tables have now been turned, we are now looking in on those who once surveilled us
The piece is finished off by an oak ply border

My original character looked more like the Guy Fawkes anonymous character

But in a moment of random 80’s’ness I stumbled upon and played Jean Michel Jarres Equinox album… it’s still a classic today… on it’s cover there were these beings known only as “The Watchers”… they eerily gaze upon you… I am hoping that my recreation of them also conveys that eeriness to those that surveil us now

Sousveillance is a term first coined by Steve Mann an engineer with numerous inventions to his name in the fields of Augmented Reality, wearable computing, and computational dynamic imaging… Sousveillance is contrasting the French words sur, meaning “above”, and sous, meaning “below”… so sousveillance is observing from below
The name Sousveillance is a word I first heard from an Andreas Antonopoulos talk and then later just as I was finishing this piece I read it in his book The Internet of Money… buy the book, but also watch the video “Bitcoin: Privacy, Identity, Surveillance and Money – Barcelona Fablab Meetup March 2016” I dropped it at 21 minutes 04 seconds where he explains Sousveillance… thank you Andreas “It’s dangerous when people are willing to give up their privacy.” Noam Chomsky“I value my privacy and my personal life – and I certainly don’t exploit my personal life.” Scarlett Johansson

Damn. I was a cypherpunk, but long before bitcoin and then I left a number of years before bitcoin came out ... I even had an @alpha.c2.org email address as well for all the mail mixers. PGP and good times back then. Usenet was also fantastic and not a giant clusterfuck of rar files lol.... It's an honour to meet you owlcatz I wouldn't call myself a Cypherpunk exactly since I don't code... but I share a lot of their opinions I've read Seeing bitcoin come alive must have been all your dreams come true surely? These central or fed crypto coins will make sure others fall and theirs shine systematically. Well! other crypto coins will exists to perform different tasks but will be synced with central or fed crypto coins in terms of value. So in this case many will lose values and many will gain values depends on how they position themselves in terms of dollar and gold. This is just an idea. Good luck with your arts man. thank you sir... I think I agree with most of what you've said... I think in the future (5-10 years max) there will be Government issued money (centralised "crypto" they will avoid the word crypto and just call it digital money), Corporation money (another centralised "crypto" so not a crypto lol), and there will be the peoples money, bitcoin. There will also be a myriad of blockchain solutions with their crypto and DAO's Smart people will store their value in bitcoin... value will flow seamlessly throughout blockchains, government, corporation, and DAO's... atomic swaps, lightning, and new equivalents, new innovations will make all this unnoticeable to the average user. We just got to build better decentralised systems than the establishment and massive corporations... systems that respect privacy, free speech, and self sovereignty... is that possible?

Nice! what are these representing?
Bitcoin came from the Cypherpunks... Cypherpunks stand for privacy which underpins freedom of speech... they also stand for truth... one of the most famous Cypherpunks is Julian Assange... Edward Snowden used bitcoin to pay for the hosting of the files he shared to Glenn Greenwald before they were published in the Guardian... he was helped to flee Hong Kong by Wikileaks... This piece is in support of all whistleblowers worldwide for they are the bravest humanitarians Whistleblowers are very much part of the crypto movement towards decentralisation... they should be celebrated not persecuted Chiefmonkey P.S. I realise this series isn't as obvious as my "Satoshi Series"... which you can see on my website... I will be returning to it and more directly obvious crypto art... but bitcoin is very political for me so I have to get these issues covered in my work... I hope this all helps...
