1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: again a Bitcoin millionaire who forgot his password on: March 10, 2021, 11:54:58 PM
I don't know how you can love with yourself after thism I do remember reading about this though. Very sad. Wow. That's so much money that's a dream ruined right there. Whenever I sold or spend bitcoin at a bad price I always try to remind myself at least I'm not one of those people who lost a whole lot of crypto on their old HDD or flash drive or something. Back in the day when you didn't know what bitcoin was or that it would be a thing so I guess people were a lot more careless then they are now since it's now worth something. When a pizza was 10k coins you didn't care of you lost a few. Now you do....
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We once had a barter system here, but the government smashed it on: March 09, 2021, 09:41:55 PM

Wow, what crap country do you live in. Maybe instead of calling their own people criminals, they should do something about the situation. How audacious of them to point fingers when they can't even get the economy doing anything. Surely this trading couldn't have affected the government that many hands, if it had then the government was not a very good one, to begin with, and, failed you from the start. Making trading banned. I have never heard of such a thing. You can trade whatever you want for anything else you want so long as both parties agree on it.

If you haven't noticed, Government is alright trying to control how we trade with exchanges now forcing people to first carry out KYC verification before using their platforms. I wasn't here when Bitcoin started, but I believe there was so much freedom trading Bitcoin back then than it is right now.

Some exchanges are also already being forced to delist certain privacy or anonymity leaning coins like DASH, Monero, ZEC. This all the same as what you just stated in the OP.

They were not "forced" They chose to. Exchanges like that shouldn't be involved in crypto and neither the fools who use them.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does BITCOIN make a person's life better !? on: March 09, 2021, 09:33:51 PM
What are you even talking about? Bitcoin is just a tool people can take advantage of to transact with or to hold wealth with. Bitcoin can help people be more financially responsible and save more money, but at the same time bitcoin could be used to buy addictive drugs that could potentially destroy a person's life. How 'good' or 'bad' it would affect a person's life totally depends on the person using it.

This is the same that can be said for money and anything else that is up for trade. I useful tool in the hands of an evil person can become a weapon of destruction which was never its intent. If a criminal can use something against you then they will. What that thing is really doesn't matter because good or bad they will use it to their own devices and evil deeds.

If you look thoroughly, then BITCOIN is just money, but like money, can it improve the world around, and humanity as a whole !?
I don’t think “good” and “BITCOIN” are the same thing, most likely the opposite.
Because of money, a person becomes weaker, he does not need to do something, to develop, because money will do it for him.

Bitcoin is another form of money that can help you to buy something besides using your paper money. Bitcoin helped people make money, have the investment for their future, and bitcoin also help them try a new type of payment system. I think people will be happy if they can make money, in many ways, whether that is bitcoin or fiat money, so the money can be their way to help them survive.

"Paper Money"  Grin You mean fiat. Paper is dirty and you don't know where it has been so having it disinfected before handling is a good idea. (I am not even joking here)
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Paypal make bitcoin mainstream? The website makes me think so... on: March 09, 2021, 08:08:21 PM
"could" Being the operative keyword here. It is the same as when they market and they will say. "Get up to $xx/xx% back"....

Read very carefully. "Up to" "could" can mean anything. I could get struck by lightning tomorrow. I could be hit by a car crossing the road. Win the lottery? (Which I never entered)  Grin Get impregnated by space aliens and go into labour?
All these things are could. In theory, the odds of anything happening are there even if they are 999999999999999999 to 1. The fact that it exists means there are odds for it.

For all, we know they give every 1000? 10000? To the person that $10? They not lying. They did say up to.

If I say you can win up to a billion $ and you win 1 $$ I have not lied to you. I just haven't given the exact details. That is why if it doesn't say it then don't assume it.

After having said that has anyone actually tried this?

I hate Paypal and want it to leave bitcoin alone.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India to regulate Bitcoin?Good news for crypto enthusiast on: March 09, 2021, 08:01:04 PM
India has always been fighting a losing battle. You can't just ban things and take people's freedom. There are consequences for the government's actions. Many people believe the government always wins, while I do agree generally this is true... There are open shut cases that just cannot be proven without the government breaking its own laws which it wouldn't do so blatantly. (When they do break laws it is not the "government" perse but rather certain members within the government. Bad apples can make the whole batch look bad as they say.

This movement is just due to the possible backlash they will definitely get if they pass something as Nazi/communist/propaganda as being arrested for a truly nonviolent and harmless "crime". Just because the government doesn't like something doesn't mean they can simply make it a law and make it illegal, there are procedures for these things and they take due time. They do not happen over a few weeks. Not even a few months but usually years. laws take forever to be rewritten or clean slated entirely.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index - The impact of BTC in the World on: March 03, 2021, 11:57:35 PM
How much research have you actually done? I was studying this very topic two days ago.
The global banking system uses 4x more electricity than bitcoin does and is nowhere near as safe.
Though I do agree they both use a lot of electricity.
The problem is how the electricity is made and not so much about how much is needed.

Bitcoin - 32.56 TWh Global baning system - 140TWh

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Major Risks in Crypto Business on: March 03, 2021, 11:52:31 PM
Never invest what you can't afford to lose meaning if losing it will reduce your quality of life do not invest that much invest less.

Do not take out loads you might not be able to pay back if things go wrong this means not only do you lose money on the investment but you are now paying interest on a loan you can't afford to pay back anytime soon, you will become desperate and we do silly things when we are desperate.

Strike when the iron is hot. If the value of your coin has grown to the point where the return in a large amount does not keep holding in case it crashes. Sell as many coins as you can in order to pay yourself what you feel you deserve and then hold onto the rest. Meaning gets your ROI and a small profit at least.

Never sell too early especially during dumps, if it is a coin you believe in this is the time to buy not sell.

Never trade while hungry/thirst/ under emotion strain or distress /tired/ drunk / high / etc. You need a level head when you trade. Rather sleep if you are tired. You might lose out on a good deal but what if you so tired you make a huge and costly error? Better to be of sound mind at the time of trading.

Always withdraw your coins from your exchange account asap. An exchange is not a wallet it is not there to protect or store your coins it is there to trade. It is a market. Withdraw when you re done.

Set up a pin code when trading that is asked before each trade. This prevents mistakes.

Other than that there are the other things the others have already been mentioned. These are just some of my personal ideas.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lowering the electricity bill by mining cryptocurrency on: March 03, 2021, 11:43:49 PM
But feel free, spend a boatload of fiat on a inefficient heating setup that will never mine a single coin,
be sure to post pics , and make false claims about how great PoW mining is for you.

We look forward to your pics , and the final result of that stupid idea smacking you and your wallet around.
Go ahead.  Smiley

FYI the purpose of the heat pump is not to mine coins but to heat your home and your water.
I'll give you a nice example of how this could come in handy from my own recent experience. My friend has a house in one country, but moved to another before the pandemic and had trouble coming back for winter, so he decided to stay at his girlfriend's place for a few months. I got a call from him a few days back to check on the house and it appears he had a flood because it got so cold in there the pipes froze and burst (the temperatures went down to -20 this winter which is pretty rare. Last winter we maybe had -5 outside tops and his house was fine). So if he had a mining rig in there he'd be able to get some coins for free and keep the house warm.

He's a moron and has already been told so by 3 separate people. He clearly doesn't understand how wattage works. Anything that uses a lot of wattage will get hot it doesn't matter what it is. Lol he says you won't mine a single coin.

Dude,

Heat Pumps or even those little heaters are more efficient at heating you home than the nonsense above.

Don't waste your time with crypto mining, it is a waste of your time and energy.

Only the rich actually make money off mining, the rest just waste their time.

You're a fking moron.

No , You're a Fucking Moron.

But feel free, spend a boatload of fiat on a inefficient heating setup that will never mine a single coin,
be sure to post pics , and make false claims about how great PoW mining is for you.

We look forward to your pics , and the final result of that stupid idea smacking you and your wallet around.
Go ahead.  Smiley

FYI:
Anyone actually serious about lowering electricity bills.
Options 1:
Modern Heat pump :
https://www.uniqueheatingandcooling.com/blog/todays-heat-pumps-are-more-efficient-and-cost-effective-than-ever-before
Quote
even during a 32 degree- or technically freezing- day, pumps can produce enough heat to keep you very comfortable.
Newer heat pump systems can take things a step further and pull warmth out of even sub-zero temperatures.
No supplemental heating is required.

Options 2:
Solar Hot Water Heater:
https://renewableenergysolar.net/solar-water-heaters-worth-investment/
Quote
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, solar water heaters reduce monthly utility bills by 50 percent to 80 percent on average.
With savings like that, solar water heaters pay for themselves very quickly — usually within 5 to 10 years.
Options 3:
LED Lighting
https://www.energy.gov/energysaver/save-electricity-and-fuel/lighting-choices-save-you-money/led-lighting
Quote
Residential LEDs -- especially ENERGY STAR rated products -- use at least 75% less energy, and last 25 times longer, than incandescent lighting.
Options 4: If you have access to wood on your property
Wood Stoves

Options 5:
Upgrade your Home's Insulation
Quote
The EPA estimates that the average homeowner can save 15% on heating and cooling costs (11% of total energy costs) by adding insulation in attics, crawl spaces, and basement rim joists. For most folks, that’s about $200 in savings per year. In colder parts of the country, like climate zones six and seven, savings increases up to 20%.

You pretty much are though....

*grabs popcorn*

"never mine a single coin"  Cheesy Grin Indeed never in a million years.

Why do you want pics? You can see how much a miner makes looking at the pools. Apparently, according to you, they are not mining a single coin.

Modern Heat pump - This doesn't mine coins or give any returns at all. Sorry, can't count it. You are missing the point completely.

Solar Hot Water Heater - ROI is like 7 years. Try again.

LED Lighting - They are way more effective than 75% try 400% or so, perhaps even more. It's also clean white light not yellow. This has nothing to do with mining you are way off track. ADD much?

If you have access to wood on your property - Now you just being stupid. Do you know how much wood costs?

Upgrade your Home's Insulation - This should be done to all houses anyway.

Nothing that you have said means anything try again.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dont stay in crypto too long on: March 02, 2021, 11:51:31 PM
Just stick to using fiat...
You don't seem to understand much about how the world, the government, crypto, or the financial sector.

If everyone had your attitude slavery would still exist since you would just accept anything the government does and says...

You're judging without reading. That guy in the article has a heat pump!
He's using mining cards to preheat air that goes into the heat pump and make it draw less power.

"Only the rich actually make money off mining, the rest just waste their time."

Noone should even listen to him. Listen to how he speaks, he is making claims as if they are well thought out and tested thoroughly. I bet a pretty penny he has never mined in his life. You do not need to be super rich to mine you can mine with a single computer. If you buy a very expensive GPU you can easily make $5+ a day and still play games with the same pc. Now picture buying 6 of those on all the time? It's just very risky and scary that's all.

"Don't waste your time with crypto mining, it is a waste of your time and energy."

I like to waste my time and energy xD

"Heat Pumps or even those little heaters are more efficient at heating you home than the nonsense above."

Who taught you about heat? Did you learn this at school? Wattages creates heat. Anything with high wattage gets hot. Have you even tried being in a room with miners in it? I bet you havent. I have stood in a room with 8 GPU units in it and it was pretty warm. During the summer or hotter days its boiling and you need to run a few aircoolers. Even 1 GPU can warm the area around you.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Case for a $10,000,000 Bitcoin on: February 23, 2021, 11:32:25 PM
this is a joke?
I read this article and I think it is completely irrational and only the author wanted to design the idea and I respectfully reject this article and your post.
I see no jokes on the article and in my opinion, it was a well read. Why do you believe that the $10M are impossible? Going from $5 to $1000 is the same thing with $50k and $10M. Would you ever believe that a bitcoin you had bought for $5 would cost 200 times more after 5 years? Sure, it most likely won't be 5 years, but it may be on 2030, 2035, 2040. One thing is certain, the dollar inflates.

Exactly! If bitcoin continues to exist in say 10 years it will shoot up since you can no longer mine new coins but only handle transactions which will be interesting to see how miners use the extra hash power they use to use to mine. I would rather use crypto. Fiat just inflates and you can buy less and less with the same amount and guess what? Your salary doesn't go up along with it. Not the life I want. Crypto is the way to go.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dont stay in crypto too long on: February 23, 2021, 11:16:36 PM
Before you vomit all over the forum with your utter crap you should probably learn how to use grammar, how to spell, and quite frankly how to make sense. No one is going to take you seriously when you sound so under-educated. Do you think people should listen to someone who can't even string two words together? I realise English is not your first language but if you going to make a post like this you could at least take the time to fix the grammar?
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone bought BTC at $6K yesterday and the exchange wants them back on: February 23, 2021, 11:06:01 PM
If they closed trading right after your trade doesn't that mean they basically stole other users' funds since they cannot trade them? You not giving us enough info. So they shut down the website soon after the trading and stole users' money? Am I right? If so then just tell them to piss off.

There is nothing they can do but make threats. Making threats is a bad way to get something from someone btw. They should have just asked nicely for it but instead, they threaten you. Tell them to get bent and enjoy your bitcoin.

Even if somehow they did manage to take you to court it will cost them so much time and money and could go on for months. No one can make you send the bitcoin, only you can. Tough shit for them.

If someone ever threatens you, you have every right to defend yourself.

Btw do not worry if they know who you are with KYC. It means very little.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why You Should Not Buy Bitcoin with PayPal on: February 23, 2021, 10:58:44 PM
To be fair you should be buying anything with Paypal. I have always hated it so much. I hate that so many places support it but no other better methods. It is by far not the best method it is just the most well known and one of the first ones to come out which is directly connected to your bank account and I guess the fact they hae been around for such a long time makes people trust them.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Longest transaction confirmation time? on: February 23, 2021, 10:52:20 PM
3.5 hours isn't too bad. I have not been sending bitcoin lately so I don't know the transaction time but in 2017 It took a week and one took over a week. It worried me but I knew it would eventually go through or reject which is very annoying since you lose your fees. You can't really trade with bitcoins it takes much too slow and costs far too much. Better to use other currencies with next to no fee. Just hodl your bitcoins for now I think.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Burned Bitcoins on: February 03, 2021, 10:36:54 PM
Do any governments do it with bitcoin they have appropriated, like burning drugs, I wonder?

Lol! How can you compare bitcoin to drugs?? No, I doubt they do that, they most likely sell them and use the money for their own personal gain.

Why people send bitcoins to the "burned" adresses? What is the philosophy behind it?
A common reason could be to get rid of dust coins. Dust coins are really small amount of bitcoins (usually the minimum possible amount that can be used in a transaction). They are sent to an address to try and identify it and link it with other addresses should it get used as an input in a future transaction.
Those who do not like such dust transaction sitting in their wallet can send it to a burn address so it gets lost forever and doesn't connect any of their other addresses.

There could be other reasons why one would want to lock Bitcoins permanently, but they shouldn't be that common.

Thank you, for the explanation, this makes sense to me. I have been wondering for quite a while about all this. Personally, I would just open up a new bitcoin wallet but I guess they have their reasons.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What exactly was the idea behind bitcoin? on: February 03, 2021, 10:33:33 PM
"Firstly , bitcoin is limited in number (21 million) and the world population is higher than that if not twice" higher than what? What the hell are you talking about? there about 8 billion people ionn earth. What hs this got to do with anything? Have you never heard of fractions before?

"if you invested in bitcoin at an early stage it would have made you twice richer" err ok? It will depends on when you bought them how can you say twice?

Right now I agree with you somewhat about the transactions. The high fees are not nice and not what crypto was really meant for.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India makes ownership of Bitcoin criminal offense - How to respond? on: February 03, 2021, 10:26:08 PM
If they could jail people from using crypto, they could aswell jail people from using any other asset they don't like whether the asset is good or bad.
You have no idea about the fascist government that is ruling India, they will jail anyone that they seem to be challenging their views, if you look at the current situation you have no idea how many news reporters are in jail as well as comedians who made jokes against them, only a fascist government can sent people to jail without committing any crime and that is what they are doing.

Exactly. They also have many uneducated people & often use religious doctrine to excuse some of their behavior. One of the worst places to live. They can't arrest anyone because they don't know who is holding crypto.
It is impossible to track. There many things that are illegal and still done. They have quite a few other problems they should probably be focusing on that but I guess money is number one for them and the fact that so many people are unemp[layed doesn't matter. Maybe they should be planning to educate the country better rather than this.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you use bitcoin? on: February 03, 2021, 07:31:15 PM
You won't get into legal trouble how? Stop making blanket statements without any explanation about things like this. It just causes FUD. Don't be so paranoid.

Holding and trading is the best way to use BTC. It is still illegal in my country and can be used only like a digital currency. We can always easily exchange crypto on fiat. BTC is such a volatile asset that even if I had the opportunity to pay with it in a shop, I wouldn't do it yet.

You shouldn't be collecting bitcoin if you fear the authorities so much. Bitcoin is a tool of liberation, not fear. WHere do you live anyway? I can't believe bitcoin could cause so much of a problem that they would to take legal action. You are not hurting anyone so I don't see what the problem is.
20  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Almost lost all of my coins in an exchange last week on: February 03, 2021, 07:27:03 PM
Why were you leaving it in an exchange? When you spend crypto how do you spend it if it is in the exchange. You should know and many people have just posted about it, that is to never keep coins on the exchange.
I really hope you put a link to this post somewhere where many will see it because this is very important. I am glad you got your crypto back shame your heart must be racing. Now you know never to do it again and I hope others will learn from this.
