141  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: radeon 6950 in a pci x1 slot on: July 12, 2014, 07:59:52 AM
Also GPU mining is in almost all cases a profitless endeavor, so why spend money on loosing more money?

Because someone with his time-machine brought us this thread from 2011. Smiley

Zombified post bump from 2011.  I can't even find motherboards with PCI slots anymore.  Even the large ATX ones are almost entirely populated with PCIe slots.
142  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Generator? on: July 12, 2014, 07:57:43 AM
Basic rule for Bitcoin and any crypto currencies is that if it sounds too good to be true it is a trap or a scam.  Unlike regular bank deposits, crypto requires your own security as opposed to a bank's to keep you money safe.
143  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A case study in entry-level mining on: July 12, 2014, 07:55:56 AM
I just started using Armory for my paper wallet and I find it is much nicer for my needs than the basic QT wallet.

I'll have to try out Electrum soon, I would love to get some of my friends interested and nothing motivates like free money.
144  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: minimum hardware specs for mining on: July 12, 2014, 07:52:38 AM
Bitcoin is no longer easy a cheap coin to get into for mining, if you have decent GPU's there are a couple coins you can turn to and some CPU coins but Bitcoin REQUIRES Asic and if you want to ever make and ROI it is 400$ minimum to try and get hardware that will make it.

$400 is for new hardware.  If you have free power you can have people give you miners and you can split the profit with them.  For them they would have stopped mining due to negative returns.  This only works if shipping is cheap or you acquire them locally.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Monero? on: July 10, 2014, 08:47:23 PM
Should I buy some bitcoins and invest something with it?

That would be the single best thing to do.  Mining requires time and monitoring, especially on a laptop.  Time that could be working to acquire fiat which could be used to buy crypto.   It ends up being more efficient.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt Asics -Doomed? on: July 10, 2014, 08:41:39 PM
Since the manufacturers are making the money I think it's only a matter of time before group buys turn into crowd funding to start their own ASIC productions.
147  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IRS claims it has LOST two years' worth of emails from former official Lerner on: July 10, 2014, 09:03:02 AM
Thanks for continuing to follow this story and post about it.  If the IRS can target these groups under a Democratic leader, they can target the opposite groups under a Republican one.  Imagine the Koch brothers calling the shots on who gets targeted.  I hope more people wake up to what a potential disaster this is.

Agreed.  Any Americans should be upset when any government office is used to target groups due to political, religious, or social affiliation. All you need to do is buy the White House and control the AG.  Then just let the funding control everything else.
148  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Latest US Jobs Report a Fraud on: July 10, 2014, 08:59:06 AM
Yeah NBC was touting that at it's worst there were 7 unemployed for every job opening, and now only a mere 2 people unemployed for every job.  Probably won't state that there's about 10 million people who decided work was no longer for them.
149  Other / Politics & Society / Re: So.. Chase shutdown my College Checking account on: July 10, 2014, 08:45:34 AM
Lol good old Chase.  I hate that bank with a passion.  Still have a mortgage with them after they bought out a Met Life mortgage - trying to pay it down as fast as I can.

This is the same bank that was doing a LGBT litmus for it's employees:
http://www.thenewamerican.com/culture/faith-and-morals/item/18651-jpmorgan-chase-surveys-employees-about-support-for-lgbt-agenda

This is the same bank that went after active duty military families:
http://www.npr.org/2011/01/19/133036957/bank-overcharged-military-families-on-mortgages

Bastards advertised a 0% business loan for me once and I spent 4 hours reading all the fine print, 3 months later they claimed they changed the terms and the rate was now 14%.  What business borrows at 14%.  And they sent a document in the mail non-registered, no signature.

Call you local TV station and nail their ass to the wall!
150  Other / Off-topic / Re: Wich phone os you like? on: July 10, 2014, 08:34:12 AM
The Win 8 phones I have tried have been pretty snappy and interface is pretty intuitive.  Not as bubbly as IOS, but not dumbed down.  Obviously customization goes to Android, but most phones I buy for people stay stock.

Buttery Nipple sounds good right about now, nice and cold.  After that any nipple will do.

154  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your Favorite boardgame? on: July 10, 2014, 08:15:05 AM
Nothing brings a family together then tears it apart better than Monopoly Smiley

Amen to that.  I still remember want to play with my dad so many times until I realized he was constantly beating me by doing the math in his head vs a 4 year old.  I was OK with it as long as I got to be the car.
155  Other / Off-topic / Re: How you Use Your Laptop?? on: July 10, 2014, 08:13:05 AM
Currently I'm playing Civ 5 in bed while listening to late night TV.  ah the convenience of "modern" technology
156  Other / Off-topic / Re: Harry Potter Vs Lord of the Rings on: July 10, 2014, 08:11:47 AM
Well they appeal to different audiences at their base.  LOTR appeals to 80 and downward from when JKR wrote the material.  HP appeals to teenagers and up.  Somewhere in the middle you'll find a 50/50 mix.
157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost flash drive with wallet.dat on: July 10, 2014, 07:50:36 AM
well i think you are in a bit of problem as anyone get your usb and see bitcoin .. and if the user knows that the bitcoins worth dollars.. and he know how to sync that .. then you lost your bitcoins for sure if i m wrong please tell me..!

It is true that the person would be able to see the wallet has xxx bitcoin, but he need the passphrase to spend the bitcoin or get the private keys. (Please check post 7 by DannyHamilton)

If you have access to someone's wallet.dat file from Bitcoin-QT you can copying it onto you machine and see the transactions and value, Bitcoin-QT doesn't unlock the wallet for spending until the correct passphrase is entered as Danny noted.

If you have a really strong passphrase you could keep it online in an email or cloud, perhaps might be a good idea to rename the file to something like invoice.txt or something.
158  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: July 10, 2014, 07:37:31 AM
It's a catch 22.  If BTC is expected to go up rapidly, people won't spend their coins.  Non usage of coins leads to less adoption and less demand and then lower price.
159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Brand new to mining have hardware but No-Clue ??? on: July 10, 2014, 07:29:55 AM
Either CGMiner or BFGMiner should work fine as long as you can get the devices to be detected by the OS.  It's probably 32 bit XP, so you'll need 32 bit drivers for the devices.

If you can't find those for the devices, maybe it's necessary to spend $20-$30 and do a clean install of Win 7 64 bit then.  Or you could go Linux for free if you know how to use it.
160  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [11000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: July 10, 2014, 07:26:35 AM
Now that I'm running some serious gear, 3+ Th/s... every time we find a block I find myself checking stats with a small amount of excitement hoping it was me lol.

Is there a way to tell specifically which member found which block ?

I found 4 blocks in relatively quick succession a while back. I asked the same question then and Eluthria had no interest in providing that information.

I haven't found a block since.

xstr8guy is performing a block withholding attack out of spite for lack of recognition.... get him!

J/K.  I know Eleuthria's busy trying to get scyrptguild updates with new coins to the updates maybe on the backburner.
