301  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it still worth it to get something like an AntMiner S1? on: July 06, 2014, 09:40:18 PM
Antminer s1 isn't worth it, unless you can get it off real cheap and you have really cheap electricity.

Or at least free electricity and some benefits like home heating if you're in the northern hemisphere. Cheesy

I think you mean southern hemisphere.  Northern hemi is in summer mode right now and needs no extra heat.  In 6 months when the northern hemisphere needs heat the S1 will be like Block Eruptors - a paperweight.

303  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Any chance Hillary Clinton could be gay? on: July 06, 2014, 10:58:52 AM
USA is a so backward nation they will not elect gay or atheist for next 20 years or so...

So electing a gay as the president is a pre-requisite for a nation being declared as forward? What next? Electing a pedophile as the vice-president? I'd better live in a nation where people are elected based on their political positions, and not on the basis of their sexual preferences.

I don't believe that technically it states that the "person" running for office has to human.  I think Ekaros would find nirvana when a platypus is elected to run his/her country.

In the race to be different and more "modern" people will give up their sanity.
304  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What good things has Obama had since he is elected ? on: July 06, 2014, 10:47:22 AM
What I find comical here in Southern California is the local TV stations showing Hispanics protesting that the kids should be allowed to stay.  I know about 100 Hispanic families, 6 of them very closely. 5 of those families have been here for more than 3 generations.  Of the 10 or so families that I've spoken about this issue to in casual conversation, 7 want the kids deported.  5 of those 7 families are the ones that have the long roots here.  2 Cubans, 2 Mexicans, 1 Guatemalan.

I guess when you identify yourself as an American you see it as cheating the system. When you identify it as a Mexican or El Salvadoran living in the US you see it as a humanitarian issue.

If you identify yourself as a politician you see it as more votes LOL

I think they designed the fan on the side so that it would cool the other components besides the main processor.  If those components get hot the unit could fail.  A push pull would work but would create more noise.
306  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Keeping ASIC Miner(s) from Heating the Room? on: July 06, 2014, 09:38:03 AM
While you can try to route the heat out a window as described above your will most likely have to move the miners to a different room if possible.  Routing heat is difficult unless close to a window.
307  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who would you be? on: July 06, 2014, 06:39:59 AM
Genghis Khan

He had so much sex, 0.5% (1 out of 200) of everyone alive today shares his DNA.  Smiley

You do know that Genghis Khan was a scammer don't you Vod?

I would be Chuck Yeager.  I love flying and would have a trip doing what he go to do!

309  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Seen as Biggest Oil Producer After Overtaking Saudi Arabia on: July 06, 2014, 06:20:08 AM
^ it's not just that.. the whole industry of how to make money off of exploiting people revolves around war. once you depose a government, you install your puppet and get your riches. you can even use government money to award contracts to all your friends.

Explain Venezuela then.  Technically no open declaration of war.  No civil war.  They can't exploit themselves is what you're saying?
310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pro Tips on Betting/Gambling on: July 06, 2014, 06:03:08 AM
The house is going to take your money when gambling.

If you want to just get it over with quickly just bet 1 big bet and when you lose you'll be done.

if you want to enjoy/agonize over it then make small best on a low edge game.
311  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Brand new to mining have hardware but No-Clue ??? on: July 06, 2014, 05:57:16 AM
The OS is not your problem.  You're fine using the Windows XP that came with the computer for the time being since your hardware is almost outdated.  Any downtime you have is money lost.

Install either CGMiner or BFGMiner
Create an account at a well established pool - BTCGuild, Bitminter, Elegius, etc
Make sure the miners are detected by Windows
Launch your batch file and mine

If you need help with any of those individual steps you should specify where you are getting stuck.
312  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Martingale System on: July 06, 2014, 05:18:46 AM
As long as the house has the edge, you are facing an uphill battle.  If you try to win a little and stop the streak and wait for the next day, then the odds are that before you double your bankroll you will go bust.  Unless you quit after your very first win, you will always risk losing your entire bankroll.
313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Refurbished laptop for cold storage? on: July 06, 2014, 05:13:00 AM
We've been through this before. The chances of a collision, and therefore an attacker generating a private key for your cold storage address, is minimal.

If you have a better idea how to validate security of a newly generated address I'd love to hear it.

But if an attacker makes the possible number of addresses that could be used smaller then the chances are greater. The issue/concern here is that the BTC address created would not be truly random.

The probability is so low it should not even be considered an option.  It would be like worrying about a nearby star going hypernova and killing us all.
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Big loss on: July 06, 2014, 05:06:16 AM
To be honest that's not a huge loss.  There are many real world stocks that do worse in a shorter time span.  Some peolpe bought LTC at $48, they have a huge loss.

Either sell it, sell partially, or wait for Coinbase to pick it up and it should rocket back up.

Trading volume indicates it's still used as a currency opposed to all other alts.

ain't nothing gonna save you. bow down to your new overlords and hope for mercy. Cry

As long as they don't have have crazy explosive weapons I could hand/hand anything under 200 pounds (assuming they're not insanely muscular like an orangutang).  Guest house is stocked full of whoop ass and about 150 types of blades  Shocked

dude, some of these alien species have psychic/telekinetic powers. what you gonna do then?

Obviously they would be using me to slice and dice others then.  I have a weak mind  Wink
316  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your favorite city on: July 06, 2014, 05:00:05 AM
Los angeles, only because thats where im from lol.

And we got hot bitches  Smiley

Eh LA is my home and it's been going downhill since 1984.  The last 2 mayors have been steaming piles of shit.  We got too many chunkies out here to counter those hot bitches  Undecided

ehhh, i spent a couple years in LA. too bad i'll never get those years back. pit of a city....

But the food is amazing in LA.  That's probably why we have so many chunkies.

They say NYC is he city that never sleep but when I was over there I had a hell of a time trying to find food at 2AM.

Here in LA you can find thousands of places open all times of the day/night.

I lurked way too much in 2012 and finally registered in 2013.  Had I registered then I would be over 30 days most likely, now just 20D 15H 9M
319  Other / Off-topic / Re: A guy gets Struck by Lightning Twice while jogging on: July 06, 2014, 04:51:14 AM
That video has been around for a while and is clearly fake.  There's no reason for him to receive the ground when there are several charged materials close-by that are much taller.
320  Other / Off-topic / Re: Answer the question above with a question. on: July 06, 2014, 04:46:52 AM
That was quite a long time ago, don't you think?
Why do people say "long time ago", and not "broad time ago" or "deep time ago"?

Why does it matter now that the phrase has been established?
