What's happening is Crypto is Internet Tech.

It has become Wall St, and will rise & fall according to what the stock markets do
.

Ever since ETF's, hedge funds & "institutional investor entities" got in a few years ago, that was it. It was no longer able to be something that goes up when the traditional finance markets go down.

Peter Schiff & Andreas Antonopoulos are correct. Bitcoin is a risk-on asset, for a long while now.

In fact even gold/silver struggle to really be risk-off, "honey badger" -type assets. Too much all-infiltrating financialization by Wall St.

Weapons, ammo, tools, vehicles, land, food, water, seeds, humans, animals, skills.

^Those are the true risk-off assets.

A historic ~49% range in a single 40-minute candle.

From $3800 to $5750 on 'Stamp & GDAX while a more muted $4000 to $5400 on BFX because of course, 'finex has much bigger less amateurish whales with deeper volume & liquidity.

Crypto is Tech.

Tech was the bubble again.

Flu panic popped that bubble a fair bit.

So, even gold & btc fold too. Liquidity Crisis.

Especially since the past 10-15 years, everything got integrated into BigTech, ETF'd, leveraged, from gold/silver to crypto to even collectors' gimmicks or art pieces.

Makes sense, and it'll all go back to 30k DJIA & 10-660k BTC within years.

Central Banks, and the world's 100+ million millionaires, are always there to print, and bid it up.

..Until that weird uncanny day when famine, payroll wages or worker disruption, looting, pillage, rape, civil war, nuclear blasts, become widespread, spiral out of control ; thus law & order breaks down and somehow eludes paranoid paramilitary agencies' grip in being restored and so techno-industrial global civilization's social complexity breaks down for a long, long time.

I've lurked & posted (under a variety of accounts) on WO since late January 2014, having discovered decentralized finance in September 2013. Wasted my vast opportunities. Squandered my easy early pickings. Seen it.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / -MoneyPot & Investors- on: April 26, 2017, 06:45:58 PM
I never understood how moneypot worked or how they could even call their investment an investment. It's freaking loses money. How ? How can something designed mathematically to create profit create loss? All those casinos would have to have bn losing badly. Moneypot is a nice App and it is clever how it works but the accounts get hacked easily it seems. Also the investment is not an investment and basically makes MP look ridiculous. Since the inbesmtent was the entire idea behind it. If people are.losong money something is wrong. The sky will be blue tomorrow it doesn't matter what you say the fact is the sky will be blue tomorrow . Just like it is fact that a casino with a house edge creates profits not loses them.

What is clearly understood, however, and examplified multiple times in the above post from this simian dudebro, is that as Einstein famously stated, "Very few things are infinite - but chief among them being human stupidity"

-> "..the accounts get <hacked> easily it seems - [this somehow affects the bankroll]" <- Huh Huh Huh

Of course any investment carries some risk otherwise it wouldn't be an investment

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Matchpool - Making Human Connections - ICO FINISHED IN 33 HOURS!! on: April 06, 2017, 01:51:30 AM
Next week ? this is some kind of joke ? I better see this made up for the community. They better hire 10 devs for this money and deliver in couple of months + recompense it for the people using physes 1.5% and then maybe, just maybe it might slide without a big fusss.

You, and the rest of the those commonly seen, typically over-invested ICO risk takers in this community, are, I regret to say it, greedy degenerate reckless gamblers.

There is a new, PROMISING ICO with serious potential - not least of which were Iconomi, Santiment, Lunyr, & Akasha - with an absolutely stellar marketing & professional-**seeming** international-class talent team, every SINGLE month around BitcoinTalk & sites like www.tokenmarket.net, on average. For the past 2 years now. And it shows no sign of slowing down.

So WHY do you OVERRISK like this.

Learn to hedge your bets.

Never leave it all in one basket, no matter how afraid of the (misguided) sting of FOMO regret you might feel if 'this particular one turned out to be the Game-Ender Unicorn'.

Example :

I have 0.5 BTC in Ethereum, Bitcoin, Monero, Factom, Iconomi, MelonPort, & Dogecoin balances on various wallets. That is the extent of my resources.

..I risked 0.028 BTC in Matchpool.

I was beyond thrilled and excited about this project. I still am.

I refreshed https://www.matchpool.co/crowdfund-live 38 times in the 24h period starting this past Sunday just before ICO officially started. I could not get enough of the success and excitement over this genuinely promising idea, have to admit it's a great idea.

But that did not stop me from being reasonable and only investing/risking what I can afford to lose..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When will you learn..?

In the normal business world, waiting several days, to a couple of weeks, for even a critical announcement such as to clear up what is really happening and what's to happen with Matchpool at this point, is to be expected. In cryptospace we're accustomed to ~6-hour "world has changed" timelines ; Real world does not match up to that expectation. I am not remotely surprised that Max Richardson's saying we have to wait up to a week, to know the details.

It means either that : 1) They'll handle it in a decisive, professional manner, and all will be well (mostly), at last, by that date, or ; 2) They're buying time to be able to avoid law enforcement investigation while Yonatan is running with the funds.

Either way the lesson here is that even with my tiniest stake, I am - just as you all are - disheartened and worried at what I am seeing - not least because it does not bode well for humanity and especially the future of cryptospace, altcoins, and the ICO business model in particular ; But that does not prevent me from sleeping or refraining from absolute hysteria - why? Because I did not over-invest myself in an unknown new project with more money than I could afford to lose.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Matchpool - Making Human Connections - ICO begins TODAY at 13:00 GMT !!!! on: April 02, 2017, 02:18:11 PM
WARNING. DO NOT SEND FROM AN EXCHANGE.
Where was this before the ICO started?
I've invested through and exchange, what shall I do now?

Contact customer support @ email of the exchange in question^

If it is Richie @ BittrEX, you're 99%+ certain of getting a nice help from them as he will manually send it back from the exchange hotwallet address, into your own privkey-controlled wallet address you should have created, by now, that you will give the info to him.

If it is PoloniEX, also probable that you'll get help from them. They'll send the tokens they receive to their hotwallet address you mistakenly sent from - via exchange withdrawal function, to your own wallet address you'll supply the CS support agent with.

If it is YoBit, you are fuc't. Their support is non-existent/useless. Shame.
Good site for shtcoin P&D's though.

"You_make_me_laugh" indeed

My question is regarding this "Relay time : Wednesday, March 8th 2017, 21:29:39 -05:00" - Noticed that appearing there last night, is 'relay' meaning it's after 3 days that a miner / node first saw this tx as potentially mineable, or is it the time at which it was 'relayed' back to sender (and would now be sitting in some MP wallet other than my account balance, as the sending user) ..?

Just curious what that entry really means

The "first seen" is self-descriptive, it's the time that blocktrail first saw the transaction. This was went it was first made. The "relay" time is the *last* time it saw it. Wallets like bitcoin core will continually rebroadcast transactions (every 24h?) so that the network doesn't forget about it (most nodes expire mempool transactions after 48-72h). In your case, this is the opposite of what you want (I guess they forgot to `abandontransaction` on it).

The simplest solution would be to use CPFP to push the transaction through. Either you could do that (using the output they sent to) or moneypot could do it (using the change address) and it would confirm with ~30 minutes or so

I personally have attempted to abandon the transaction. The RPC states that the transaction is not eligible for abandonment.

The user above's account has been credited. I believe his question was more out of curiosity.

Thanks for your explanations Ryan & Craig, as always Smiley
Today I learned

So I guess this explains what happened.. this whole time I had thought MP had decided to wait until this tx was fully abandoned before crediting me haha, it's rather that they thought they had done so, probably based on the messages exchanged earlier in the thread, but then other things must've got mixed up and someone forgot to actually do it.

Maybe it's when DogeD sent me BTC from his wallet to one of my off-site wallets, and then I tipped him on MP to his account ; That was not a case of me being tipped/credited to my MP account, and the amount is different than 6666 anyway.

I checked each MP account, no 6666 bits received (or 5666 - you can fairly charge me that full withdraw fee for failed tx) in my balances anywhere. The withdraw had been done Sunday on this account. Assuming it will be credited by ~tomorrow or so :s

Again sorry to be a bother w/ such "small" amount - I wouldn't normally, except that I busted and there is an MP contest going on =P

Thanks

Ah Embarrassed I'm gonna look a bit like a fool here since I don't know after all this time the details of how tx failure is handled on the network ; But I thought transactions were dropped from mempool / returned to sender after 3 days - it's been 90 hours now and still trying to confirm this mistake..?

My question is regarding this "Relay time : Wednesday, March 8th 2017, 21:29:39 -05:00" - Noticed that appearing there last night, is 'relay' meaning it's after 3 days that a miner / node first saw this tx as potentially mineable, or is it the time at which it was 'relayed' back to sender (and would now be sitting in some MP wallet other than my account balance, as the sending user) ..?

Such a sweet generous promo, admin, ty for running it

So I got som1 to drive me around and since it was late at night and I'm stuck in such a small town, 3600 population village & 15min away from the nearest 13k pop (also tiny..) town, I was barely able to get a few people to accept my pizza/coke gifts - here are the pictures : http://imgur.com/a/kqiJN

Went out again today to find more to give to : http://imgur.com/a/zJobi

Receipts (Bought 6-pack of cokes & large pizza) : http://imgur.com/rPQYsd8

Just went walking with the pizza box around the entire town, tried to give away to as many as I could but it seems the homeless don't really hang out anymore, they have all been moved to the nearby larger towns where there are churches/community centers to stay with ; I did what I could but unfortunately given the geographic limitations of where I'm located, that's about it, anyway I guess maybe Badger already won haha - also Azes34 did a nice effort too I notice =P, thanks!

Edit : CONGRATS on BADGER for WINNING!!!!! Awesome run - saw her pics.. Can't beat that hehe Wink

Edit : WOW BV Admin awarded me a nice amount for 2nd prize effort - Didn't have to but he did - Thank you so much it's mad appreciated <3

The inputs are not feasible to spend. We have had several transactions that we have paid very large transaction fees on. We have had a few that were .1 for .005 transactions.

That's such a waste of money to miners, the bitcoin protocol allows so easily. Ridiculous. No way ready for anything remotely close to business mainstream adoption. I'd be beyond enraged even as an entrepreneur if I spent $130 fees for $6 items - that's completely past 'cost of doing business'.

Hey there,

Well it seems MP's BitcoinD/whatever depositor & withdrawal system got majorly code-farted by either a Cloudbleed side effect, or from the constant slow-bets DDoS issues this weekend, or something else - because multiple players are reporting confirmed deposits not debiting to their MP wallet ; while this pure gem of a giant withdrawal monstrosity somehow got created ->

Not 2, 3 or 6 but 42 small inputs, turning a TXiD into 28 times the normal size ; thus leaving even such an expensive .001BTC fee with nevertheless no chance at all of getting this 6200 byte monster included in a block before 2018 ; Since unfortunately the mempool has been clogged on a permanent basis for several weeks - and at ~15.6 satoshi per byte, that's 5-13 times too little to get a confirmation in at least ~30-48hrs (~1-2 dozen block delays later on average)

So is it possible any of the 42 input addresses^ in this mistake would be able to perform CPFP or RBF (debit more fees from my account, np), or, if not, when this thing gets dropped from mempool and returned to all those little MP multi-wallet addresses, can this amount be credited to my account? Thanks Wink

Shorters made insane amounts in 2014-15. holders were throwing money away by taking the safe route.

The trouble with humans is that they get married to one mindset and blow it eventually unless they can admit to themselves that the market is doing something they don't want it to.

Ah. Finally.

Ah look at that - a farcically typical hungry ~/Indian/ OP Engrish's us up some grand proclamations of predicting the precise moment when the extremely powerful (unfortunately) central banks and major governments will actually run out of the incredible amount of extorted power they've accumulated over the past century to continue "kicking the can" yet further down the road of monetary stupidity - and actually be overwhelmed by financial collapse - just in the same way as ZeroHedge has ordained us literally hundreds of global economic depressions of dooom in the last decade Roll EyesRoll Eyes
18  Economy / Economics / STILL Looking for a billionaire... on: February 24, 2017, 02:05:57 AM
... to buy up all the BTC on all markets until $2000 USD/BTC (or... $#?). I'll give that buyer 100% of the profit (and keep my principal BTC) from my 5x leveraged long BTC/USD position opened just before initiating the operation, and a take profit order at at the top. This will be done in a time window where there is no overnight financing fee, per the site's terms.

The buyer must escrow a matching amount of BTC to guarantee my principal is refunded in case of breaking contract, dumping/shorting against me, or theft from my leverage account/website with 2FA active (e.g. the site operators are thieves or their private keys have already been compromised and a thief is waiting for a large deposit to sweep the big score).

Once BTC reaches $2,000 USD/BTC (or... $#?) on all markets, the buyer will be contractually obligated for 10 years NOT to sell any of their BTC or a fraction thereof for less than $2,000 USD/BTC (or... $#?)/any currency's equivalent. The penalty for selling under $2,000 USD/BTC will be exactly the number of BTC that the buyer profited over my principal BTC.

Please PM me your PGP public key.

That ^last (10-year part) clause in your offer is the one that stands out particularly as the reason you're sure as hell nowhere near ever finding a taker for your fanciful machination.

The demographics of this forum are more than likely coming from somewhere without a high population of billionaires or a low per capita GDP anyways, and the chances of finding a billionaire are one in 3,833,516, assuming they were spread out evenly through the population.

You'll have higher chances on reddit.

[..]

If they're on bitcointalk then I would definitely expect for them to be chilling in the Chinese local board right now. Even though they're trading it doesn't mean they're billionaires, just people with money to move. For some of them, it might be all they have.

To my knowledge a lot of Chinese people don't speak English to a very large extent, or they certainly pay more attention to the happenings in their own language than English, since they can get the information faster and more accurately, since it'll affect their markets before it affects ours, most of the time.

That's partially just my opinion, though, so it might be completely inaccurate.

Oh but no worries it's certainly a very well educated & sensible opinion and abundantly accurate.

I have left the project in December. No information.

well that explains a lot. maybe one should contact those guys. But please friendly
regarding myclium twitter account and alexander kuzimin accounts as well are inactive since last year I guess we will never see any progress regarding myclium and or mass any more. this is a scam and I think every further day without any action of these guys is another proof of this theory.

I will sell all of my coins for half of ICO price. Anyone interested?

^Lol @ "1/2 price"

I will sell mine (14.5M) for ~1/15th ICO price - aka the whole ~14 million for 0.0005 BTC
Payable via ^equivalent amount in DOGE, ETH, BTS, NXT, DASH, LTC or via MoneyPot/BustaBit/BitSler/BitVest/C-G tip, to save on expensive BTC tx fees.
