Has anything interesting happened in this story over the past 24 hours?
Moneroman88 managed to trick Putin into attacking XMR. So now world gov leaders is on hunt to destroy privacy and freedom, together with BCX of course.

BCX might receive a call from this man later thanking him for continued enslavement of people:

Poloniex daily volume: 78 BTC
Miners are not even selling this low.
Bearish times for BTC, Monero might do great meanwhile. . .

Just a thought.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero taking over the alternate section? #3 Crypto in weeks? on: September 26, 2014, 09:08:21 PM
This looks more and more like Quarkcoin.

except its called Monero.
What a dumb name. It sounds like an underpowered sedan driven by senior citizens.
I wouldn't focus that much on the name, although I consider in class with Litecoin branding name.

What I would focus on is CryptoNote, do some research about it.
"Any significantly advanced cryptocurrency is indistinguishable from Ponzi Tulips."
^ The statement here I consider in line with Monero and especially the CryptoNote protocol.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BCX attack on Monero was fake - Official Statement from CryptoNote team on: September 26, 2014, 05:56:28 PM

Official Statement from the CryptoNote Team Regarding Exploit and Monero Attack

It was brought to my attention thanks to our own Kendrick Bitz that last week a community member going by the name of “Bitcoin EXpress” was threatening to exploit CryptoNote and attack Monero.
BitcoinEXpress, a hero member of the BitcoinTalk Forum, carried on in a thread about how he is going to exploit CryptoNote and Monero, claiming that a user’s private key gets exposed when passing through a ring signature. If this were to be the case, this could have a chilling effect on all CryptoNote coins – not just Monero.

This incident has created a lot of concern within the community, seeming to be a topic of discussion for many and quite possibly influenced a price decline with Monero and other CryptoNote coins over the past week.

So, we spoke with Catherine Erwin, CryptoNote’s Communications Manager, about the potential exploit to bring clarity to the community. This is what she had to share exclusively with BitcoinBarbie.com:

“We would like to refute the statement on the potential private key vulnerability. The security of CryptoNote’s technology is based on the infallibility of mathematical functions such as discrete logarithm problem or the Diffie-Hellman problem. The CryptoNote whitepaper and protocol is based on the well-known cryptographic primitives. There are no new cryptographic assumptions which could result in the private keys being exposed to a 3rd party. Moreover, there is nothing new in the one-time ring signatures concept. It corresponds to a well-known scheme called traceable ring sig which is referred to in the list of references of the whitepaper.

“CryptoNote is always watching out for incidents such as the one you have brought to our attention. The CryptoNote technology allows the creation of cryptocurrencies and for the last few years we’ve been working to make CN the most reliable and secure platform.
“However, on this particular occasion we haven’t found any indication of an exploit. We cannot exclude the possibility that certain individuals have been deliberately spreading rumors in order to mislead users that are not well versed in CryptoNote’s technology.”
This is not the only time BitcoinEXpress has threatened the community. Just over a week ago, EXpress said that he would take Poloniex, a popular crypto-currency exchange, down with a ddos attack – and he successfully did shortly after making the claim. As a result, everyone participating in the discussion and aware of this problem became increasingly worried when he went on to further threaten to perform a 51% attack on Monero last Saturday.

Fortunately for all CryptoNote users, this time it looks like BitcoinEXpress was bluffing. Monero was not attacked and all CryptoNote coins safely live on to prosper for those that would like to use them, without exposing any ring signatures.
“CryptoNote is complex and certain individuals may try to capitalize on the fact that not everyone is well informed about its mechanics,” Catherine further explained. “Should there be any questions about CryptoNote, please, feel free to contact us through email or CN forum http://forum.cryptonote.org.”

Remember: Don’t listen to the hype!
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMR] vs [BBR] - Fight!! - CryptoNote War on: September 26, 2014, 01:54:17 AM

Bigger is not better. This is a MYTH. Satoshi proved this and so have other leading devs - BTCNext, JL777, etc.
So let's all praise the one man team v.s the 10 man team. Let's praise zoidberg to be our god for the development. Shall we?

Monero isn't a better branding name. It does have a bigger speculation following, but relatively speaking both coins are small in following. There is no WINNER. The best winner in ANON TECH will be the best ANON TECH.
Monero being the best name is subjective, although I am sure many agree with me on this one. The best anon tech is CryptoNote already, I don't think any small changes here and there s going to make such a difference in the future 2 years from now or so. It all comes down to what the market choose and looks like we already have a winner here considering the market cap and developers backing it.

You have been fed a pack of lies. You have bought into those lies. Going forward - over next 3-6 months you will see that all your points were just myths, based on nothing but hype and propaganda.

But don't take my word for it. Watch this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=577267.4780 and decide for yourself in the coming weeks.
Bring it on. I have picked my favorite already.  Grin
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMR] vs [BBR] - Fight!! - CryptoNote War on: September 26, 2014, 01:44:31 AM
Whilist I admire Boolberry and cryptozoidberg (Generally I admire any talented developer), the reasons for XMR being larger is because the blockchain scaling is not a problem at all in my opinion. Even Bitcoin at 20 gb blockchain is nothing, Gavin is already trying to solve this with Bitcoin and any improvement could be forked over to CryptoNote. The whole scaling problem will be solved one way or another in the future by some genius dev I am not the slightest worried it will be a problem.

XMR dev team is larger than BBR, the dev team consist of atleast 10+ different developers while Boolberry have one dedicated one named cryptozoidberg, while he should have cred for his efforts, I personally believe XMR is the better investment here. Purely speaking from an investment perspective I think any change that would be made to Boolberry for the better could be ported over to XMR easily.

Monero have a better branding name, bigger following and a seems to be the winner the marked picked in this race for anonymity.
It is clearly the winner among the CryptoNote coins.
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info asking for private keys- is my system compromised? on: September 26, 2014, 01:09:32 AM
1. Are you on the right Blockchain.info? Not a pishing site?
2. Can it be that you have watch only addresses?
3. Have you tried logging in from another computer?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: █████ ***** THE ZEROCOIN / ZEROCASH SOURCE - Truly anonymous coin ***** █████ on: September 25, 2014, 10:13:02 PM
 Tongue
When the coin is going to be launched?

Have read a little bit about the coin and it seems to me it has only pros and no cons. I am suspicious when there is no cons. Maybe I haven't just mentioned the disadvantages of the coin.
One thing I would like to know about Zerocash is if it's possible to view the balances or not at will?
In Moneros case you have a third key. Called viewkey meaning that all balances on all addresses are private - until you give them the viewkey. When you give someone the viewkey to one of your addresses/accounts, the address balance can be looked up on in a public block explorer.

Worthy bump after recent BCX drama and FUD.
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 24, 2014, 11:22:11 AM
Really hard to tell where price is going.
Indicators for going down more:
The low on 796 shorting exchange was just 384, while it usually always follows Bitstamp down to their bottom which was 378.
Double bottom should be possible at 340 and I feel it's needed because of the fail runup to 680.

Indicators for going up:
Paypal news
Heavy buy volume yesterday

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinEXpress (BCX) -> Monero Attack -> DOX on: September 23, 2014, 11:03:56 PM
BCX you say to me in pm your intention is not to make money doing this.

Is the intention to get power among internet nerds? What a miserable life you must live. Seriously take a hard look at yourself and ask why you are living like this.

My advise to you is to try find peace with yourself and find someone you can share love and joy with. This what life is really about, not getting creds from teenagers on a forum.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinEXpress (BCX) -> Monero Attack -> DOX on: September 23, 2014, 10:41:15 PM
BCX is a tragic person.
Wants power and does crime to get it.
Did the access to Cryptsy database give you a bigger epenis and strengthen your ego?

Hope Cryptsy owners stop licking your ass now since you are leaking out Gov ID's.

I am gonna make sure Cryptsy get in trouble for this and gets closed down by subpoena.

Excuse me smoothie, but I would like to put it like this:
You know when a coin is matured and ready to invest in when it has gone through the BCX drama.
Only legit coins go through this, BCX simply doesn't bother to try attack anything else.
