1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: Today at 10:31:11 AM
Are you planning to add another icon in the category: the most generous sender of merit, which will be based on this table https://bpip.org/Report?r=meritsent ?

No I haven't really planned that. I'd have to give that one some thought and hear what others think.

Wouldn't this be redundant as a top 1000 list?  Outside of merit sources, which I assume would occupy the top X positions, the ones with most earned merit should end up the most generous senders.. unless everyone is hoarding them? *shrug*
2  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: Today at 10:02:24 AM
Ah, thank you. I added the 120-day in yesterday but didn't have time to fully respond. I was just doing 60 day increments, didn't realize there was a general requirement out there for campaigns.

Can you also add list of most merited users based on merits earned in the last X days?

Are you referring to something like this report

It could probably use a "report options" button/menu with some additional capabilities.
3  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: September 28, 2020, 06:46:25 PM
UPDATE
-Moved report.aspx to the newer infrastructure… which is now the /Report page. (Redirects will be set, but saved links should be updated for the new URL!).
-Adjusted link for ‘Most Merit’ on Profile page.
-Set tooltip’s to close when another tooltip is triggered.
-Re-organized the way profile page displays flags, added percentages.
-Added a RED color which will appear for any active flags on the profile page.
-Added information text, for clarity, to smerit.aspx.
-Added 30/90/120/150 day counts for earned & sent merit.
-Revised wording on profile page from 'has given' and 'has received' to 'has sent' and 'has earned' (under merit info).
-Small adjustment to BTCTalk Throwback theme (link color).
-Fixed 0’s on Profile page and corrected Ordinal numbers for all displayed ranks.

BPIP Cards
Ground has been made on releasing BPIP cards but there is concern over the system resources needed to deliver the completed image to the browser. It works, but testing it has hurt the system resources a bit too much. These are larger images intended for printing, so they take up a good amount of memory when generating. We are seeking some alternatives (or a separate server) to handle the load better.

edit: added 120 day merit counts.
4  Economy / Reputation / Re: VOD must be removed from DT list. on: September 27, 2020, 09:33:17 PM
It was funny watching Vod's site get hacked and then instead of helping him restore it, she decided to take it over from him.  Cheesy

suchmoon was helping with BPIP for quite some time before ownership changed.. and the ownership change was triggered by a loss of server drives & data, not a hack.

Just more false narratives used to perpetrate the lies and mudslinging Og continually puts out these days.

5  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: September 24, 2020, 03:59:14 PM
The link was corrected back in July... I thought before this prior release was published, but apparently not. Undecided  .. According to the commit history and FTP timestamps, it looks like it was corrected 2-3 days after the last release in July... so it will be corrected the next time we move changes over to live.

As for the 0's... was a little confused at first on this one. The code for >1000 is still there, however an 'ordinal' function is being applied to it after it changes it to >1000.. Ordinal() function seems to be then converting it back to 0. Doesn't seem like the ordinal function is working at all though, so this seems to be where the issue stems from. Those ranks should be adding the 'th' 'rd', etc. Should be able to get this corrected on the next release.

You make me feel so young.
After the physical and emotional stress I've endured so far in 2020, I'll estimate I will have aged 15+ years by 2021. lol

So what are the odds the active members drop is related to COVID-19?... or, maybe just someone's account farm went offline or something?   Where's the poll?? lol  Cheesy

.. BPIP should really get some historical tracking going with those stats ..
7  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: September 15, 2020, 10:55:02 AM
CloudWatch does seem like a bit more than is necessary, although I'm not familiar with it and have never used it. It probably makes sense to do what suchmoon is saying here, if I'm understanding correctly. We are already storing each job and a timestamp when it was last run, so maybe one page like 'modcheck?mod=flagparse' which checks the DB for timestamps on that particular job, and returns OK/Error based on the result?

I guess we could do the same thing with the logic we are using in the logo as well (like when DB is offline, the logo turns red, if the DB is up and the parsing has stopped, the logo is not spinning). We could just check the DB timestamps and if anything hasn't last run in... lets say 20 minutes to give buffer for any long-running jobs.. the logo spins but turns yellow, giving the indication something inside the parser is not running. Could get more specific here in the length of time and each job, but just a general thought.
8  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: September 14, 2020, 10:09:46 AM
Flaglog is running again, it has added new flags and is currently about 85% of the way through the weekly re-parsing of all flags... no big errors occurred here, just the parser losing connection to the DB and me not realizing it.  Embarrassed

The monitoring is done by the users, in this case Ratimov. If it breaks and nobody notices, it's not needed Smiley

Well, most of the reports pull into the profile page as general information/stats, so just because someone doesn't use the flaglog itself, they could be looking at the number of flags against a user... which will look normal in a situation where the parser has stopped parsing flags, so it might be good to at least have some sort of general alert that a particular parser has stopped, although, I agree it is probably not the highest priority right now... I'll try to check the parser log more often! Smiley

but I don't think it gets processed.
I've still been manually processing this file.. need to get back with suchmoon on adding a task to the server to do this for me but I just hadn't gotten to the recent update yet. It's good now. Thanks for the reminder!
10  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Themes (CSS-Based): Dark Silver, Dark Purple on: August 21, 2020, 12:21:34 PM
I also encourage you to use a white color and purple with other shade and not too much dark.
Thanks for the suggestions, although I don't think white should be in a dark theme.

I'd recommend the Dark Silver/Grey theme if you think the purple is too much. Smiley

I had intentions on doing a few different color schemes, including non-dark, but I have other priorities at the moment.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Themes (CSS-Based): Dark Silver, Dark Purple on: August 21, 2020, 04:54:11 AM
Great work sir!
Thanks. And, I see what you're saying about the background.. I've modified both themes in the OP, but only slightly reduced the color on Dark Purple. Also adjusted the line under the 'last edit' post.

Can you fix it with your script, please. Give the default text color as white, not silver. White color is displayed better on dark themes, rather than silver color.
Seems easy enough.. assuming [glow] is the only bbcode tag on this forum that can set a span with a background-color. Tongue
I've added some CSS to hopefully help with this in both themes:

Code:
.post > span[style^="background-color"],
.quote > span[style^="background-color"]{
    color: #fff !important;
}

14  Other / Meta / Bitcointalk Themes (CSS-Based): Dark Silver, Dark Purple on: August 20, 2020, 04:34:44 PM
I did some experimenting with dark themes for Bitcointalk and ended up with the CSS below.. primarily to be an addition to the BPIP extension at some point in the future.

But I figured why not release the CSS now?  ..in case anyone wants to use it with something like Stylus, or a similar browser-based CSS changing extension. And, of course, if you have any suggestions for improvements/fixes, feel free to share them.

I should note: To try and keep the themes 'dark', I toned down the brightness on images... you are not losing your vision or passing out! Grin
I've also replaced some of the SMF background images with css-based gradients/styles.
And, I've mainly tested these on firefox.

Thanks for the bug reports, although this is sorta the same bug you've already reported.. just on a different page.  Smiley
It will be fixed on the next release, I have already added in JS on the development site to fix all tooltips from overlapping, on any page.
Let us know if you see anything else!

Did something fail in scraping latest Trust lists this week? The profiles still link to last week's Trust list.
Thank you, I've manually updated the file on our side.. but to get it automated again, suchmoon will have to adjust the scheduled task to start saving the updated file in the newer directory. Smiley

edit:
It got worse: https://bpip.org/r/dt1changes.aspx took 14 seconds to load, and https://bpip.org/Profile?p=loycev first didn't load at all, then took a few seconds on retry.
Not sure what to say about the performance issues you are mentioning... all of the .aspx pages are still under the same infrastructure as before, so it should be the same performance-wise.

For the 3 newer infrastructure pages, they seem quick to me, at least when I'm using them... I haven't seen it not load at all either. Maybe there is a general server resource issue happening which I can't really see. suchmoon may need to look into the server's resource usage and see if it is having any issues throughout the day (if he hasn't already  Smiley ).

I believe it's technically running two sites at the moment, so I'm sure it's consuming more resources than we'd like, but it wasn't really possible to port every page over in a timely fashion so this phased-in approach seemed to be the best route.

This used to say something like "Planned for 7 minutes from now". Now the planned time is one second before it was last parsed.
Time travel, my favorite kind of bug. I'll fix it right after I cash out my lottery tickets.
I got this corrected and published earlier today, should be using the friendly/future date functions now.  Smiley

At the moment, it's quite a lot slower than I'm used to.
It did seem slow at one point but I think it has picked back up after I did a full re-upload...

On my profile, 1 out of 6 badges is on the next row. Should that be on the same row?
There was a small issue here which I caused about an hour before publishing Undecided .. Anyhow, should be good now. Regardless, because of the additional badge, some mid-sized screens may drop the last badge onto the next line in a responsive fashion. If we keep adding badges, we may need to make them smaller but I think it is OK for now.

Error: File not found.
Corrected.

edit: it's working now.
It was failing on just the newer pages, other pages would have worked fine.. but this should also be corrected now.

Update: We've released an update to the live site. There is more under development that we were hopeful to have ready for this update (mainly BPIP Cards, new themes on the extension, and a few other features) but, well... time, priorities, covid, life, etc...  there are just a few more things to work out before some of these can be released, hopefully not too much longer).

As for this release, there are some notable front-end modifications, but a lot of the work in this release was done on the back-end with moving towards a new development infrastructure and porting over pages.. which will hopefully benefit the overall performance, flexibility, cost, and security of the site.

Notable release notes:
  • Hamburger menu in the upper-right corner of site for easier access to the main menu.
  • Informational text on reports to give a basic explanation on what the report represents. (forgive any typos or misunderstandings, but please let us know about them!)
  • Modified/added verbiage to differentiate “most merit” and "earned merit".
  • Added “most earned merit” badge on Profile pages, using a slightly different style badge. (“most posts” also now uses this badge style).
  • We've begun the process of moving over to a newer infrastructure, this will mean saved links need to change for: the profile page (/Profile), index/main page (/Index), and DT change log (/TrustLog).
  • Various minor bug fixes/design adjustments

Important: Redirects are setup for the old links/pages mentioned above, but you should update any profile links to use /Profile?p=username or /Profile?id=00000 (instead of profile.aspx?p= or profile.aspx?id=... while also updating links for default.aspx (now /Index), or dt1changes.aspx (now /TrustLog) ). Other pages on the site will continue to operate under the old infrastructure, until they are converted in the future.

Suchmoon is a kind of loser normie that checks on instagram unfollowers but kinda Bitcointalk version. But no, that’s not the ultimate goal within this spying cHeCk mY MeRiTs app. Is it?
umm.. you do realize the extension doesn't even report anything related to merit at the moment.. merit count is part of the forum itself.
Nice review you've done, /sarcasm.

The most unecessary extension on the market.
Should we assume you've reviewed every extension on the market?
(answer: no, I'm just mad at suchmoon.. my butt hurts.)  Roll Eyes

Because nobody gives a fuck if Satoshi is inactive or how many merits you have.
And again, merit counts are part of the forum itself... and the extension does more than report inactivity.
Stop killing your brain cells man, come back to reality!

Sane people.. just read the OP. Smiley
