Zach says he'll have something to post this weekend.

grnbrg.

 Huh

Last night he said he's not purposefully delaying, and will have something to say shortly.

grnbrg, you are the only one that has had any contact with him lately.  You should recommend this as well.  Thank you

I asked him what's up on Monday.  And yesterday.  He said he'd post something this week.

Sorry, but I don't have anything else to pass on.  Sad

Just a reminder for those who don't check in often...

BitcoinTalk was compromised a few days ago.  Time to change your password.

I'll poke Zach again, but I doubt much will come of it.  He has been very reticent for some time.

My personal speculation:  Either the lawsuit is still ongoing, and he can't comment.  Or the lawsuit has been resolved, and included a gag order meaning he can't comment.  And he may have found (as many others have) that posting nothing is produces less rage posts than posting bad news or no comment posts.

As far as

Quote
Zach executed a long con. He wanted shareholders to pay for hardware, and under the guise of "law" he basically diluted the crap out of every shareholder other than himself.

Bullshit.  Hindsight is 20/20.  We all expected things to go differently, but then the price crashed, and mining became far more competitive far faster than anyone anticipated.  Sure, Zach might have made better decisions in some cases, but that's easy to see now.  It was less clear at the time.

My rule for investing in Bitcoin has always been "Never more than you can afford to lose entirely.".  That applied to LRM as well.  Zach seemed to have an excellent idea and plan, so I gave him a couple of thousand dollars worth of newly purchased Bitcoin.  And I haven't seen any evidence that he behaved irresponsibly with it, and I've been closer to him than most.

At least I've got the balls to admit that it was my choice to give him coins, and that anything I've lost is on me.

BTW: When I visited him in May, and posted pictures from his datacentres, I spent a lot of time and effort faking the GPS locations in the EXIF metadata and NO ONE NOTICED!!

I am disappoint.

grnbrg.
Your right, I didn't even look.
On that note however.... half of them are Philippines and the other half are Australia.  That's a fast yacht!  Does it still count as a yacht?!?
Geelong Chess Club, Geelong VIC, Australia

<EDIT>
Sorry I was lazy and didn't bother with all the decimal places.
</EDIT>

Crap, I must have been tired.  It should be -73 longitude, not +73....  D'oh.

Well any updates... Think there was a bunch of staff supposed to happen in the 1Q.
Email or PM LabRat and cc grnbrg, see if they respond.  I doubt LR is checking this thread.
I've poked him a couple of times, and he hasn't shared anything relevant with me.  No pictures from his yacht.  Smiley

I suspect he is still dealing with the lawsuit.  But even that is just speculation on my part.

I wish I had more to share.

I'll poke Zach for an update of some sort.

What is with that spam anyhow? What could it potentially do that's useful, or harmful depending how you look at it?

In the case of the couple I recently received, they were advertising a bitcoin gambling site.

I read something about BFL mass ordering pitchforks etched with a Y U NO SHIP meme on them...

That's been confirmed somewhere in the documents.  I've seen pictures, too, but can't remember where....

Another cross-thread repost.  Whoa.

Hello everyone I figure you might all be interested in reading Josh Zerlan's deposition.

This is on a freely available sight that archives acced court records.
PT 1. http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.20.pdf

And here is the FTC's rational for the court to order a preliminary injunction.

and here is some additional info:
http://ia902308.us.archive.org/32/items/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531/gov.uscourts.mowd.117531.42.1.pdf report of an FTC investigator

This one includes a chat with the principals:

You're not going to believe it, but Josh was the White Knight in all of this. He constantly champions honesty and divulging a proper timeline to customers. He was the one guy with some intelligence on how things should be run but no one wanted to listen to him. He's getting a bad rap and I know some of it is on him but see if the chats don't at least change you mind about some things.

I don't see anyway that BFL gets control back of the company after reading that chat. NAIL IN THE COFFIN.

All those who received miners from BFL though, you probably will make your money back.

You have a little bit of bitcoin history.  I suspect they will become collectors items in a few years.

Actually I'm not kidding.

Cheers

Dave

(hmm. am thinking BBC's Antiques Roadshow in 30 years time...  - ok - now I'm kidding).

Heh.  I've actually wondered if some collector might eventually be interested in ShortBus...

Wouldnt it be interesting if bfl were mining with unshipped equipment to fund refunds, and now with the receivership, no more mining, and btc hashrate stabilizes, making the difficulty not rise so dramatically?

Pure, outrageous speculation, but fun thought none the less.

Fun thought, but I suspect BFL is a small player in the chip building business.....

Cross thread quote alert!

From BFL fucks us over again:

Did somebody mention the FTC? Apparently the FTC showed up with US Marshals today and closed the place down, seized their assets, and sent everyone home. I only have personal confirmations of this at the moment as I am a former employee but I expect this to be verified in the news soon. You heard it here first.

Should be interesting, if true....

grnbrg.

Speaking of interesting...

I've had some contact this afternoon from someone whose word I trust, and who is close enough to BFL to know.  They confirmed the above post.

<speculation>As per the address that was there I followed the chain to and from BFL's addresses, so either it is one of BFL's address, one of EMC's addresses, or it was Gox and BFL may have been goxed which could explain a little bit about their delays as money issues could've turned them into (more of) a Ponzi. </speculation>
Great....  So our refunds may be on the "BFL delay train"(TM)...

30-45 day processing times...... enough said.
We shall see if this is true.  I will report back.
<BFL Email>
...your money is in the Rebate queue and should be sent to your wallet in two weeks.
</BFL Email>

FTFY.
