141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: August 09, 2018, 07:17:49 PM
Let us not forget about the eventual overtaking of the PETRO-DOLLAR by the PETRO-YUAN. It is happening every minute of every day. Markets accross the world are dumping the dollar, who would blame them for doing the rational thing in the face of insanity.

If you were right, would not the US dollar then lose value against other currencies? The opposite is the case. The USD almost wins against all currencies in the world, including the Chinese Yuan and the Euro. It may be that there are many dumpers, but there must be more buyers.

Interesting article on Hacked.com about "Why Investors Should Pay Attention to Waves" published yesterday.

143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KMD][dPoW] Komodo - Zcash Zero Knowledge Privacy Secured by Bitcoin on: August 09, 2018, 02:25:20 PM

"First off, Komodo claims to be compatible with any of the popular programming languages, meaning smart contracts can be written in Python, PHP, Ruby, Pearl, Go and TCL. Front end web support is also catered for with JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and XML options available."

How is this section to be understood in the article? Is Komodo platform already smart contracts ready or is this just a preview of what Komodo's smart contracts feature will be able to do in the future?
144  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-08] US SEC Postpones Decision Regarding Bitcoin Exchange Traded Fund. on: August 09, 2018, 02:20:21 PM
Maybe they are dumping them to hold bitcoin or to hold fiat to buy bitcoin under $6000 to prepare for the bull rally on September 30 hehehe. They are making an effort to maximize their profits and gains.

Also, I reckon all markets are manipulated by the whales of that market. Do you think Warren Buffet became a billionaire only because he was a hard worker?

Again and again I read this argument, no matter whether a politician, an economist or another influential person expresses a negative attitude towards Bitcoin, it is always said that the person or the institution only wants to buy Bitcoin cheaply. In fact, I believe that the SEC is not completely independent. There are many influential forces who would like to ban cryptocurrencies. Or do not want (like the Wallstreet) that Bitcoin is already developing towards mainstream, because they need more time to position themself.
145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Government backed, regulated gambling is more predatory than Crypto Gambling on: August 09, 2018, 12:59:07 PM
I would disagree. Maybe that holds for some centralized gambling providers in crypto space, but it does definitely not hold for smart contracts based gambling where source code is open for everyone. Regardless of that, smart-contract-based casinos are the future of gambling anyway.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread - Free Airdrop on: August 09, 2018, 12:44:09 PM
i have just discovered this thread. there is something that i do not understand.  the way that a delegate becomes a validator. their behavior is like a pool or like a masternode? the validators are the equivalent of the masternodes? and their all time number will always be 100? tx

Have you read this source already? https://github.com/semuxproject/semux-core/blob/master/docs/Delegates-and-Validators.md

I had a similiar question when I first dealt with Semux. The concept of validators is pretty similar as for other platform like Lisk, Ark or Komodo. Maybe you already made experience with those platforms so you can transform their principle to Semux.

ledger support for waves ready for use, waiting approbation (thanks to mrpi)

https://github.com/wavesplatform/nanos-app-waves

This is awesome, I did not know it was almost ready for release. Hopefully it will result in a little Waves pump too!
One great news for Waves holders like me. Still, I'm kinda surprised that the price of Waves has been declining for several months now eventhough we are always greeted by Sasha with developmental news about this project. The marketing strategies that they implement ramp up and the updates for technological developments have been lining up also in the past months. For what it's worth, Waves truly has the value of a real cryptocurrency backed by consistent developments. It just doesn't reflect to its price.

When the smart contract feature is implemented, it will show whether Waves can compete with Ethereum. Because then it has almost all the functionality Ethereum makes so strong. Only then, in my opinion, can a trend for the future be read. I still think that Vostok will have a positive effect on Waves in the medium and long term.
148  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-08-09] Australia Could See First Solar-Powered Bitcoin Mining Farm in Coal on: August 09, 2018, 12:34:10 PM
An Australian data center operator and its cryptocurrency subsidiary are developing what they describe as the country’s first “behind-the-grid data center” powered by renewable energy.
Situated in the coal-mining town of Collie, some 200km south of Perth, the new facility is being developed by data center operator DC Two and subsidiary D Coin and will be powered by a solar farm built by a company called Hadouken, IT Brief reports.

149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Statistics about Bitcoin Gambling? on: August 08, 2018, 06:02:05 PM
Are there any statistics on how gambling with Bitcoin (and crypto generally) develops? I would be interested if it increases or decreases. From time to time there are articles on media like Coindesk but I'm not sure if you can believe the data.

I imagine that gambling with bitcoin as opposed to fiat currency is more risky because the proxy of a 'digital currency' doesn't hold the same mental weight value. That was the case for me anyway, because I could justify that I was only losing 'magical internet coins' instead of real money. Unfortunately, this all happened back in 2014, so my magical internet money would eventually be worth over 100x paper money.
Online gambling, with and without Bitcoin, has grown drastically in a number of countries around the world, but some, such as the US and Russia, have imposed very strict regulations regarding the policies against online gambling. The reason of its increasing number of Bitcoin gambling is the anonymity and  the ease and speed of withdrawals and deposits. As well as the lack of fees that are charged to the players.

Yes, you are right. But all the casinos are based in tax havens like Malta, Gibraltar or a Caribbean island. Bitcoin Gambling is also almost anonymous. For this reason, there are also a lot of users from the states like USA and Russia gambling in online Bitcoin casinos. I am not aware that there has ever been a judgment therefore.

So there is possible to create good team without spending fortune

Last plots Boateng is going to stay with Bayern Pogba wants to leave because he doesn't like Mourinho but Manchester wants him to stay
Last 48 hours in England is coming so will be crazy

I am not sure if Boateng will stay with Bayern. I would be glad if so, because I'm a fan of Bayern. But I think ManU is playing poker. The offered transfer fee was comparatively low. I think ManU will again make a higher offer. Bayern and Boateng have signaled to be interested in an offer.
151  Economy / Gambling / Re: GambleScan - fair gambling games using smart contracts on: August 08, 2018, 04:54:36 PM
The website just open a blank page...

It works for me.

https://gamblescan.com is a crypto-gambling market scanner which help you find the most profitable gambling games using smart contracts.

I did not know that there are so many contracts for gambling already. How does the verifiability of those contracts look like? Are the rules or the source code of the contracts open? Are there any beyond Ethereum platform?

152  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-08] US SEC Postpones Decision Regarding Bitcoin Exchange Traded Fund. on: August 08, 2018, 04:47:18 PM
dude, I woke up, I turned on my computer and entered the coinmarketcap and I had a big fright, I can not believe what I'm seeing, the price of bitcoin fell to  $6500, but that was already expected, what shocked me was that:

Ethereum: $375,37

NEO: $23,93

Lisk: $3,60

Litecoin: $66,71

What the hell do people have in their heads? if only because the SEC said it will not decide on August 10 and decided to postpone by September 30th and people are selling cryptos to the point of having a fall of more than 9%, this shows that this market is being manipulated and with this attitude the SEC can disapprove any ETF.

A year ago, we could only have dreamed about such prices. Today they are a shock. As a news report today, Bitcoin is currently being driven by speculators rather than drug dealers and othres. After the SEC decision today, they will withdraw their money to invest elsewhere (eg, bonds or stocks) by the middle of September. As the SEC's decision approaches, they will get back in time and push the prices higher. This is how it works in 2018.

154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: August 07, 2018, 06:59:11 PM
Thanks Tony! A restart of the wallet did not fix the problem directly. The message appeared again. However a restart of the computer fixed the problem.

I knew that Blackbytes are not transferred. They are still stored on the old machine. How can I restore Blackbytes on my new machine as well?

I bought a new computer and installed Byteball software and restored my wallet by using my wallet seed. I had a wallet already on my old computer.
After seed import and required wallet restart I received an error message:

Quote
Uncaught exception: Error: message encrypted to unknown key, device 0<snip>R, len=228. The error might be caused by restoring from an old backup or using the same keys on another device.

Then the wallet quits. What does the message mean exactly? I understand the meaning but not what I need to do to restore and use my wallet.

This is normal after restoring from seed or an old backup.  Close the wallet and restart.  Never open the wallet on the old computer, or you get "message encrypted to unknown key" again.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SEM] Semux - Official Thread - Free Airdrop on: August 07, 2018, 06:31:23 PM
What are the next, close goals for Semux to achieve?

I am interested, too! The roadmap published on the website only goes until Q2 2018. It is time to refresh and update the roadmap.
Also the website states that after Ethererum airdrop there will be an airdrop to altcoin hodlers. Are there any information already which altcoins are considered?

158  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-08-06] 52 Quintillion Per Second: Bitcoin Hashrate Breaks Dizzying New Rec on: August 06, 2018, 01:02:23 PM
Data from Blockchain (formerly Blockchain.info) confirms that the current hashrate has reached 52 quintillion hashes per second. This marks the first time Bitcoin has reached the threshold in its history.
52 quintillion (52,000,000,000,000,000,000) is such a large number that it is difficult to put into perspective, as one Twitter commentator noted, retweeting the figures.

160  Economy / Economics / Re: Why everyone only invest in the crypto market? on: August 05, 2018, 05:06:37 PM
Long story short, it‘s great you have a diversification plan but also think about moving assets from crypto to fiat, stocks or raw materials and precious metals.

Absolutely agree! I advise nobody to invest only in crypto. Investing 100% in crypto should only be done, either if one is a total idealist or absolutely convinced about crypto success or if one has nothing to lose anymore. Everything else is unwise. One should invest at most 1/3 in cryptos, 1/3 in cash or fast-available money (such as call money) and 1/3 in stocks, preferably blue chips. Depending on the risk class you can, of course, adapts weights individually, but as a guide, I would recommend it so.
