42  Economy / Marketplace / Privately Hosting Miners for people on: June 14, 2016, 03:20:07 PM
I was wondering what it would take to host some miners at my location
for local people to me since I have free hydro at my location,
it wouldn't be large scale and be something that takes away from my free time due to full time monitoring

what are the normal fees associated to be made for doing this?

I was the lead tech at a computer shop for twelve years so I am familiar with hardware and repairs, networking

As for myself in the scheme of things
Im running a small s5 miner now and have upgraded it to a 3 blade setup, but wouldn't mind doing it as a host service

any comments or suggestions about whats needed for a small hosting site?
43  Economy / Goods / Re: Shop on: June 14, 2016, 02:28:58 AM
after thinking you probably intended to make a shop thread so people can post what they want to sell?
and if they dont know how, someone here could show them to post images?

i think you had good intentions but it would be way too hard to follow several sellers in one thread about multiple items, in a short time the thread would be so huge from replies to various sellers on items, no one would be able to respond or keep up with the sales questions
having separate thread posts on items is much easier to search and deal with them
44  Economy / Goods / Re: Shop on: June 14, 2016, 02:19:28 AM
so these are for sale?

i thought you were trying to explain how to post images for people by your first post
Quote
So let's start, people will explain how in this forum to post photos,

then something about things getting confiscated in mail?
not sure how pictures prevent that

its only the currency thats supposed to be cryptic not the threads here Cheesy
45  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 - How to power in Canada? on: June 14, 2016, 02:10:29 AM
Damnn that's pricey!
My neighbor is an electrician. I would get him to do it.

yeah id say so too, buy used at demolition reseller shops such has habitat restore
I picked up a fully populated 100a breaker mains panel for $70 on kijiji
, the outlets and wiring and steel tubing were also reclaimed and free
i have an ats switch installed that cost $50 thats between my solar setup  inverter and the 220v mains from the house to my panel
my whole solar setup, and ac hardware cost less then $2000 and i can power everything on solar for 4 hours, my next steps to buy more agm batteries to get more reserve power

id say i spent less than $300 to rig up a whole panel as far as the ac side goes , since the solar was close to $1800 and thats CAD too
46  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Bitmain Antminer S5 - A wonderfully modable and well performing miner on: June 13, 2016, 03:52:47 PM
Hi,

I am a novice in the business of mining.
I tried to connect 2 good 3 pin fans to the miner, but it fails to operate.
I get beeps!

If I connect the fans to the miner or the a molex, its the same thing. It start, but stops within a minute.
Temperature remains below 50°C!

What am I doing wrong?

regards,
Eric
if its the system and not just the fan..

sounds like your supply cant handle the current draw in watts

does it boot up, increase fan speed some ,  then a while later go full throttle then shutdown the supply?
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Halving on: June 13, 2016, 03:43:47 PM
it wil only affect people who are mining it is not profitable anymore for small miners to mine.

i disagree depending on hydro costs and price & speed of equipment you start with
if you dont pay hydro, (or very cheap) and buy used equipment that take a month or two to break even you can easily double your equipment every few months and keep doing it off the cost of one miner

lets say you made 80 a month mining and equipment cost $160 in 28 months you would have 128 miners from one

based before the halving of course..

.. easier for me to do because of free hydro
but id rather host miners for people ,just havent figured out the logistics yet

50  Economy / Goods / Re: What would you buy from Jamaica? on: June 13, 2016, 01:03:15 PM
i would imagine produce import bans would make it impossible, if you ever watched one of those airport border shows, but chicken or goat roti would sell being authentic

52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Halving on: June 12, 2016, 08:26:48 PM
I dont understand the whole process completely, but if you build something that takes little in material to produce and an hour to make do you charge less than it would for something that takes 2 hours to produce with the same material?, my guess if it takes longer to mine to get coins (half the rate) wouldn't it make sense the price would go up because it takes longer, personally i`m just putting it into more used mining hardware to slowly build bigger and bigger, my hydro if free so it makes sense to do it
53  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: The S7 I/O board by Bitmain on: June 12, 2016, 04:23:50 PM
my guess is if you want to monitor the other boards you need to populate the fan circuits too
with the fan connector , caps, and accompanying resistors, a closeup of a fully populated board will disclose the
values, should be the same as the two already installed

54  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: The quest for the Antminer S5 Ribbon Data cable. on: June 12, 2016, 02:04:11 PM
ohh thats awesome thanks

i made a diy mount for my one blade and extended the data cable, wish they had sold longer ones,
however cooling is not enough, also had to use a second supply as my 1440w only puts out that on 220vac
shuts down when it goes into hashing routine
so now Im looking for `some used end plates so i can use a spare 120mm fan I have to cool the blade
I`m going to buy another cube sometime soon but trying to work with what I have for now

nothing fancy for a diy

55  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: The quest for the Antminer S5 Ribbon Data cable. on: June 12, 2016, 11:41:25 AM
whats the speed on an S5+ blade?
will it work on the S5 controller or do you need the S5+ or S7 controller for it?

I actually have a question about the S7 controller, some come with 3 connectors and I have seen some full of them,
can you just populate the connector sockets (if you know what part it is)to add more or are there smd parts needed too?
56  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB]End plates and side plastic w/screws for an S5 on: June 12, 2016, 11:21:56 AM
just endplates would work should anyone have some
or even a pdf template for one i could try making my own from aluminum, the sides arent so much a big deal
57  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB]End plates and side plastic w/screws for an S5 on: June 11, 2016, 03:20:33 AM
does anyone have any front & rear End plates and side plastic w/screws for an S5 cube, they can ship within or to Ontario Canada?

I'm adding a 3rd hash board to my S5 as a project, and the homemade frame I made doesn't provide adequate cooling with a small fan
so my next option is to use the spare S5 fan I have on an oem frame

btc or paypal is preferred
58  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] [EU] s1 and s3 fans on: June 09, 2016, 09:24:02 PM
Hi all, I'm looking for s1 and s3 fans, it can't be the s5s and s7s because they are too loud

Cheers,
Q.

what too loud?? i sleep in the same room with them, its relaxing Cheesy
59  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Server Power Supply Interface Board - for standalone miners and GPU rigs on: June 08, 2016, 11:39:42 PM
+1 Nice.
I'll have to look into the DPS-1520. I assume it's a 1500w supply? If so and if priced like the 1200w supplies then it'd make a perfect fit for s7's and s9's.
it's 1440watts Cheesy still good in my books
