When I first heard about bitcoin, my immediate inclination was to jump on my computer and search "bitcoin forum". Naturally, this brought me to BitcoinTalk where I remain an active poster today. That 2012 query has completed changed the course of my life as well as my financial status. It has been show to me that the best place to learn deeply about a subject, when there are no other available options, is an online community. BitcoinTalk was and still is that community for me and today I would like to express my gratitude today by giving back to the community here:

For the first 21 people who use the code "BitcoinTalk.org" for our Bitcoin Professional Course, they will receive a seat in our course at no charge. We have been compiling research on bitcoin as a software and money system since 2012, roughly the same time I joined this very forum.

If you are someone who is interested in learning more about bitcoin on a deep level, and considering the implications of digital money, I encourage you to take a look at our Bitcoin Professional Course. It has already been well received by the community and we would like to continue further development on it. Students who are enrolled today will have the course content made available to them as long as we continue to update the materials.

Go here now to claim your spot: https://diginomics.com/product/bitcoin-course/

I am hoping to get some valuable feedback on this course.

Thank you all and good luck!

Over the last 4 years I've been involved in the Bitcoin industry, researching digital money and stashing away Bitcoin. This year, business has reached a point where it is covering my monthly expenses with plenty left over for disposable income. At first I thought this was an opportunity to splurge on something fancy to celebrate, but I did the exact opposite - I sold everything I owned but the bare essentials. My entirety of my belonging fit into a suitcase and carry on and I cannot express how liberating this is. Truly, the things you own end up owning you. I've discovered less is more.

Although I've been a nomad since 2013, I've never gone full digital nomad until just now. Since 2013, I've lived in Saskatchewan, Sweden, Toronto, and now Montreal. I attribute this lifestyle to a combination of mobile and Internet technologies.

What I would like to do is invite others to discuss this life of minimalism and digital nomadship as I believe it is magnitudes more fulfilling than the traditional 40+ hour workweek.

Very nice looking forum, I must say. But it has the same problem as any other crypto related forum - it is not bitcointalk or reddit.
From my experience I know that it is very hard to attract new users to be active on your new forum, you need to provide some unique aspect or other incentive for them.

Standard user will load your BBS see that there is almost no replies and close the site thinking - Reddit or bitcointalk is at least alive, let's stick with it.

Thank you for the reply and feedback.

Although the site is still young, it is growing and we understand the importance of a few key active members in the beginning. Reaching 150 active community members is a true milestone.

In terms of "some unique aspect", we are looking to integrate a native bitcoin wallet for tipping purposes on the forum.

For anyone interested in contributing and being a founding member, please reach out.

Thank you.

115  Economy / Economics / Africa Can Leapfrog Traditional Banking With Bitcoin on: January 22, 2016, 05:01:19 PM
If bitcoin acceptance reaches a critical mass where necessities of food, shelter, and clothing can be bought with it, it could reach a tipping point where it displaces national currencies in many developing countries. In this scenario, many areas of the world may leapfrog banking infrastructure and traditional money wire transfers. Most notably, the financial landscape in developing economies such as Africa is well positioned to leapfrog traditional banking and move directly to a bitcoin-enabled financial paradigm.

Are you Travis Patron? Did you buy the Trezor for this promotion, was it donated to you or did you have it already?

I hope they have it shipped directly from trezor.. Probably a lot easier, cheaper and safer to have it sent directly.

I'm not joining because Id rather not give my phone number away and I recently bought a trezor myself already Smiley

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. I don't think I want a Trezor from anyone but the original company.

Hi. Yes, I am Travis Patron.

The winner will receive the Trezor shipped directly from the company. I will not be touching the device, only paying for it and shipping it to you.

PS: The phone number is optional. If you are interested in getting an SMS ping when we are live streaming an event, enter your phone.

118  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin Will End The Nation State on: January 08, 2016, 02:58:33 AM
The state of the nation state is that people are in bondage to the nation. Take a look how the government is making inroads into regulating Bitcoin. It isn't Bitcoin that government is regulating. Rather, it is the people, just like government is regulating everything else in their lives.

This is an interesting point. It is not bitcoin itself which is being regulated by the nation state (I believe national governments understand bitcoin is highly unregulatable). But rather, it is the people, the citizens, who are in contact with this tool that are being regulated. The citizens themselves, not the tool is what is being targeted.

How then, does one make themselves unable to be targeted? Formless and adaptable like water?

120  Other / Off-topic / Re: How Much Would You Be Willing to Pay For A Bitcoin Membership Site? on: November 19, 2015, 12:46:06 AM
You have to consider the fact that in here we can get devs posting and you can get info on Bitcoin first hand. Maybe you delivered some inside info leaked by whales or something.

Most of the membership benefit would revolve around analysis done on the price of bitcoin, current adoption trends, industry developments, and the economic characteristics behind digital money.

It would be informative and help intermediate investors profit from being involved in bitcoin - both from a financial standpoint and professional view.

I doubt i would pay anything for speculative info. There is lot of free places where you can get info for free, and price of bitcoin is unpredictable anyway. What would be membership benefits?

There are already a few publications which attempt technical analysis of the bitcoin market (NEWSBTC, et. al), however we would be taking a longer term view (3 - 10 year investment window) of bitcoin rather than seeking to make quick gains from day-to-day trading.

That being said, our content would look at the wider scope of digital money and its implications, such as the separation between money creation and the state and how individuals can position themselves to benefit from this transition.
