101  Economy / Speculation / Re: The proof is in the pudding: chinese are participating en masse, price not up on: May 08, 2013, 10:24:52 AM
Have you considered the time it takes for these things to take off?

First people have to be exposed enough to finally decide to jump on the train. After that comes figuring out how to do it. Then you have to wait for the bank transfers to process etc.

I would say that we could start evaluating the effects of china at the start of next week or so, at the earliest.

Woah! Nice movement!
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 50,000 votes on Dropbox website and counting! bitcoin adoption imminent? on: May 07, 2013, 12:46:17 PM
If I understand correctly they could accomplish this rather easily if they wanted, just have bitpay handle the btc transactions and hand dropbox the fiat $$$. Everyone is happy?

I don't see this as a real long-term solution. The better option would be to accept Bitcoins as they are.

It's a good compromise, but nothing more.

From a business perspective I see this as a low risk way to get to the native acceptance. Yes they could probably do their own e-commerce thing to accept it, but I would be willing to be the investment to do that is much much higher then adding another 'merchant account' to the existing solution.

Then later on one can evaluate if it makes business sense to remove that merchant and go 'native'.

I agree with you on this. What I am afraid of is that if Bitpay fails down the road they would take a lot of confidence of the bitcoin with them in the grave. We need more native acceptance in the long run, a single point of failure is never a good idea.
104  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this concerning? on: May 07, 2013, 12:39:34 PM
Oh come on not another one of these charts... No it's not concerning at all, we've been through this many times already. Either you believe in bitcoin or you don't, price fluctuations on the short term should not bother you much. Maybe we'll revisit $50 again, maybe we'll even bottom out at $30.. who cares in a year from now you'll be showing these exact same charts when we top at $5000 and you'll be worried about whether we go down below $1000 per bitcoin again.

My thoughts exactly.
105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why most people here are happy to see bear coming and price drop? on: May 06, 2013, 06:59:22 PM
If we hit double digits again - I'll pawn stuff to buy more btc if I have to.

Almost the same here. At least if we go under $50. Then it's time to sell the car, computer, fridge etc.
106  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated posting on: May 06, 2013, 05:15:21 PM

You keep posting that image again and again.  Why?

It's a new one every time. And, it's an automated post. So, just ignore the user if you don't find them useful. There is no human behind the account to be offended. Wink
107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.8.2. What do you think? on: May 05, 2013, 10:13:02 PM
Do you have a source on this proposed change, for anyone who is not actively involved in the development and/or frequent the mailing lists?

Hourly EMA just crossed upwards for the first time since last high on April 30.
110  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 01, 2013, 06:41:33 PM
What is the rationale for this "crash"?

Loss of confidence.

Because of silk road? Or what? Bitcoin ATM is comming tomorrow, the protocol has not been breached, there is no superior cryptocurrency to take bitcoins place, the press is positive, etc, etc.

112  Economy / Speculation / Re: welcome to 2011, where sr affects the price of btc. on: May 01, 2013, 06:31:00 PM
I would be glad to see Silk Road shut down for good.
113  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 01, 2013, 06:26:53 PM
To me it seems like the value of bitcoins keeps going higher and higher for every day, but still the price goes down.

Silk Road? Are there actually enough people using it to make a difference? I thought we had risen above that by now.
114  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 01, 2013, 06:20:00 PM
Strange to see the price go down with the upcoming launch of the ATM tomorrow.
115  Economy / Speculation / Re: The current BTC hype is over, let's wait for the next one... on: May 01, 2013, 05:58:08 PM
ok Bear boy

bear or not.. BTC prices always rose and declined with the public interest, at least until now. For now, the interest is getting weaker...

Did you ever stop to think about if it was the other way around? Could it possibly be that interest follows price?
116  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 01, 2013, 12:27:34 PM
15 minute EMA crossing to the upside.

oh wow, hey look how big everyones penis is. Who cares. Shut up and trade.

I have a very tiny small penis, it is why I compensate with BTC   Grin Wink Cheesy

QFP.

Also, 4 hour EMA just crossed to the upside.
119  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: April 29, 2013, 01:33:29 AM
I have also bullish outlook but a bit different: Wednesday will be the strongest day like last week. The low-volume calm period has been very long now and this usually means strong moves. I'm pretty sure they'll point upwards. Not quite as bullish as rpietila, though. 0.14 on monday is possible, maybe tuesday. 0.16 on wednesday possible. 0.20? probably not this week.

So I've been carefully going long(er) this weekend, buying the dips. As long as $0.12 isn't breached I consider lower price like now a buying opportunity.

why are you quoting prices in mBTC ?

For the same reason we normally deal with gold in ounces or grams instead of kilos.
120  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much price will drop this week ? on: April 28, 2013, 09:21:35 PM
I assume that you are referring to the price of the dollar. I would say that you would most likely get about 150-175 of those dollars for each Bitcoin.
