Seeing a fourth green candle makes me think that we are out of the bear trap. Smiley
142  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will somebody build that killer game that uses bitcoin as it's currency? on: April 20, 2013, 05:29:31 PM
To be honest, I would rather see that these kinds of implementations would not go online on a large scale in a few years. It would possibly spread a lot of misunderstanding among people, making a lot of them think that Bitcoin is just as WOW-gold. However, when/if Bitcoin reaches mainstream acceptance and people are better educated, then it would be great (and unavoidable?).
143  Economy / Speculation / Re: Request a Trading Buddy, Claim a Trading Buddy on: April 19, 2013, 11:56:44 PM
Very friendly initiative. Smiley

I can't say that I would bee a very good "trading buddy", since I seldom trade. I am more of a "keep them secret, keep them safe" kind of guy. However, If someone needs a reassuring voice when in doubt whether to buy or not to buy, then I would be a good match. Might just make a recording with my voice asking the following: "My dear trading buddy, has the protocol been breached beyond reasonable repair? No? Then buy."  Grin
144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst :) on: April 19, 2013, 12:51:24 PM
I would think that America waking up to see a significantly higher price will spike it somewhat higher in the comming hours. Maybe even over 130. The "correction" would come after that. That's my guess.

Here comes the ignition!

Since when shooting oneself in the foot is a good business strategy? Any kind of strategy for that matter?

They have a worldwide network of offices where money can be changed, compliant with all local and international laws. If they would add Bitcoin to the list of currencies their customers would be able to buy, they could easily become the market leader in exchanging Bitcoins.

This was my first thought.
147  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lets say they try to make bitcoin illegal on: April 18, 2013, 07:30:28 PM
I doubt that all the countries in the world would issue such a law all at once. The exchanges would be forced to move their bank affiliations to countries with sound laws.

We would likely end up in the same place eventually, albeit with swiss exchanges. Smiley

I don't like this thread-fork. Seems like the other one has more than 51%...

It had a head-start. This one is more spammable and less pruned...

Since the other one is equally non-moderated and free as the good ol' thread, why start a new one?

Isn't that one self-moderated?

Not really:

sorry for all the confusion guys.
i will not be deleting any posts here
this is just the new thread because the old was was just too big.

Imho, this post should be moved to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=12.0.

Another reason to use VPN. Today I am from the Netherlands. Smiley
153  Economy / Speculation / Re: MtGox will change their trading rules today, right? on: April 17, 2013, 03:18:50 PM
wtf, youre telling me i could just put an order in to buy 10000 BTC at $100 to make it seem like there was a huge demand for BTC without having a single cent in my account? that is the most stupid thing ever, I can't believe this has only just been changed.
Nope. It doesn't show on order book, just shows on your order list so it'll automatically get added when your funds arrive.

But still, I guess that the database must keep that unfilled order in mind, which would slow the system down.

I refuse to use an exchange with more than a few seconds of lag.

Why is it that the Bears always try to make it so that "the lag is causing prices to go up"? Is it not obvious to everyone that lag causes the prices to go down? Lag creates fear, fear causes selling etc.
155  Economy / Speculation / Re: I sold at $57, fml. on: April 17, 2013, 09:54:45 AM
This is why I don't try to outsmart the market. I only end up outsmarting myself.

Buying, holding, using and promoting. <--- My plan
156  Economy / Speculation / MtGox will change their trading rules today, right? on: April 17, 2013, 09:39:50 AM
If I remember correctly, MtGox is going to do some minor changes today.

Quote
TOKYO - JAPAN - April 09, 2013   Orders will only be accepted when there are enough funds available in your wallet!

Dear users, starting on April 17th we will be rolling out a minor change on how people place orders via the Mt.Gox interface. Until recently, anyone could place a buy or sell order for Bitcoin, regardless of how much funds were actually available in their wallet, resulting in an order showing a "Not enough funds" error status in the Open Orders list.

Starting on April 17th, this counter productive scenario will no longer be possible and will be automatically rejected before validating your order; until you have enough funds in your wallet to match the order value.  While this change should only affect a minority of users, it will however have a major impact on our trading platform and improve our system overall performance.

Regards
Mt.Gox Co. Ltd Team.

What are your thoughts about this and how it will (?) effect the price and the swings? Is this the end of Gox-lag?

Is this change already in effect?

157  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitcoin really used? on: April 16, 2013, 03:09:31 PM
If the merchant accepts bitcoin, that's what I will use.

I am already using it to buy VPN, and I plan to use it for hosting as well as dns when I need to renew those services. I have bought clothes, but that was just in the beginning when I wanted to try it out. Should I need new hardware, I might consider purchasing it for bitcoins, but that's not as easy when you live outside of US and perhaps UK, since I need special keyboards etc.
158  Economy / Speculation / Re: PANIC!!!! on: April 15, 2013, 10:05:26 PM
But if I sell my coins, how will I pay for the services and products that I buy for Bitcoins?

Nah, I will just hold them and keep on using them.
159  Economy / Speculation / Re: dont get cought selling now just to wake up and its at 100 on: April 15, 2013, 10:03:04 PM
I can not understand what it is that's making people sell right now. No fundamentals have changed as far as I can see. The protocol has not been breached. There is no new legislation banning bitcoins. More and more merchants are accepting bitcoins as payment.

I guess it's just herd mentality.

I know I will be holding for the long run. Actually considering to force myself not to check prices for a year or so.
160  Economy / Speculation / Re: 'Short' Got Screwed on: April 14, 2013, 02:21:48 AM
This is not financial advice:

I would be very surpriced if the price did not touch sub-95 again, even if it is going up long term.

But you never know, there might always be a trigger happy chinese billionaire out there who would push us to new hights in a single click.
