161  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 13, 2013, 07:19:50 PM
Mt.Gox is killing Bitcoin.

Lag --> Fear --> Selling --> More lag --> Panic --> Dumping --> Even more lag.

I have not touched Mt.Gox in a couple of years, but the prices on all other exchanges are suffering because of their failure.

Exodus!

It's not 02 UTC yet...
163  Economy / Speculation / Re: countdown to 02:00 Zulu, goxdump or no? on: April 12, 2013, 01:10:35 AM
So, we are speculating about what will happen to the price after the opening of the exchange that triggered the drop in the first place?

The fundamentals are sound. Nothing has really changed. Long term, it will go up.

I know I would be buying, should I have had some fiat on the exchanges.

Not seen this in the thread yet, some excellent analysis of the correction today...

OT: The graphs in this post are wonderful. Where are they from?
169  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much did lag cost you? on: April 11, 2013, 05:41:48 AM
I don't trade when the lag is that bad, so it did not "cost" me anything. Surely, the prices are lower now than when I bought my last batch of coins, but that will be all corrected in a few days time. Right now, I only wish for a more stable growth, not these "singularity" hype rises.

And sure, the bear in me was smiling and hoping for single digits since I have my biggest yet deposit on my way to Bitstamp. But the bull in me kept telling me to hold, since none of the fundamentals hade changed.

Test to see what the logical action should be:

1. Is there a fundamental flaw in the Bitcoin protocol?

YES / NO

Action:

If YES then SELL.

If NO then HOLD.

2. Has there been any large and negative fundamental changes?

YES / NO

If YES then SELL.

If NO then BUY.
172  Economy / Speculation / Re: From Bull to Bear. Sold it all. on: April 10, 2013, 04:16:49 PM
This is very well timed. I am actually glad to see this speed bump today.

Now, if only my SEPA transfer would clear with Bitstamp... Smiley
173  Local / Skandinavisk / Bitcoins och Skatteverket i Sverige on: April 10, 2013, 11:43:13 AM

174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 10, 2013, 10:20:58 AM
Someone needs to poke the BitStamp traders, BTC-E is trading higher than BitStamp at the moment. Tongue

BitStamp @235.00
BTC-E @246.50

Bitstamp has been strangely behind the other markets the last 24-48 hours... There has been some big ask walls put up, they are still there they just keep shifting back with the price.

I don't mind. I don't mind the least.
175  Economy / Speculation / Re: Even if it does crash... (is that possible?) on: April 09, 2013, 08:28:52 PM
If a crash like that happens, without any of the core fundamentals (protocol flaw, heavy legal ban etc) being the cause, I would buy Bitcoins for all the money I could gather up.
176  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 09, 2013, 05:33:33 PM
This is insane!

For every moment that goes by, those 13BTC I lost on a buggy mobile client 2 years ago seems like a bigger deal.

Try 5000 btc to a corrupted hard drive  Cry

send me the hard drive.... I WILL retrieve the data, we split it 75% you %25 me.

Actual data on a hdd is pretty much never lost if you have not encrypted it. It's totally possible to fix. I offer you 80%! Wink

EDIT: You are screwed.

178  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did you do when price passed $ 200? on: April 09, 2013, 05:15:45 PM
I was having a talk with my therapist about my obsession with bitcoins.
179  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 09, 2013, 01:20:47 PM
LOL, I just had to share this Bitstamp wall:

That's huge for Bitstamp. European money comming in wider streams?

reptilia, is that you? Wink
180  Economy / Speculation / Re: those who are buying know something I don't on: April 08, 2013, 05:45:22 PM
Those "never sell" theories are total BS. Everyone has a selling point. For some it simply is much higher up than where we are now. We're in the process of price discovery and we will overshoot for sure, but the point is that it won't just go up forever. The expectations of many holders are just way beyond the current price.

I think a lot of us have planned to keep as much of our assets in bitcoins as possible until it's a world wide accepted, day-to-day, bricks-and-mortar kind of currency. Then we never have to "cash out" but can instead pay our (thailand beach home) rent with bitcoins.
