221  Economy / Speculation / Re: One thing's for sure: MTGOX SUCKS!! on: March 28, 2013, 11:10:12 PM
I recommend Bitstamp. Seems to attract many of the European users.

Drawback might be that they would not be prepared to handle an influx in the amount of users, thus getting to a point where they also become unstable.
222  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Fall of Bitcoin! on: March 28, 2013, 10:06:52 PM
Even if the prices would plummet down to $0.1, it's not the fall of Bitcoin. Just another opportunity to buy.
223  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 28, 2013, 08:56:35 PM
This is intense.

The way MtGox's servers are acting during these episodes should really encourage more people to trade at other exchanges.

So I gave my kids each a paper wallet with 10 BTC awhile ago, and every big jump I give them an update (I thought of it like a savings account for doing chores, but they earn more by playing Lego).

Last week I gave my 5 year old the definition of Bull market and a Bear market,  well with all the growth lately, they are feeling bullish, so on the news of the $5 jump to the mud $90's my little one says to me: "wow those bulls are very happy today". (I imagine he sees it literally)

Made me smile. Smiley

So far it's like a commercial!  Grin

We will see. Watching the BBC live right now.
227  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin valuation on: March 26, 2013, 06:16:20 PM
Here is an (old but) interesting article on the subject:

http://falkvinge.net/2013/03/06/the-target-value-for-bitcoin-is-not-some-50-or-100-it-is-100000-to-1000000/

Falkvinge put his money where his mouth was when he went all in a couple of years ago, a good investment so far.

It is Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 1:48:10 AM CST, and within 7.5 hours the price will crash.

Did you include the information you have (but don't yet want to reveal) or did you just make a hash of the statement above the hash?

It's a hash of the statement above the hash, I checked it.

That's kind of.... pointless.

231  Economy / Speculation / Re: 3k to invest. Mining or Bitcoin on: March 24, 2013, 02:41:34 AM
Simple plan:  every time you want to buy something that costs $100, buy $200 worth of bitcoin, spend half on what you want, and put the other half into a cold wallet far, far away.

I like this one. Smiley

Not everyone are cut out to start a business, and getting in to the mining game at this time feels like a waste of both time and money.
232  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 23, 2013, 10:42:20 PM
My main point was that the kind of "semi live" conversation that takes place here would be better to have on IRC. Especially during heavy action on the market.
233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 23, 2013, 10:39:49 PM
This thread should convert to an IRC-channel. Smiley
+1

But, but how do you embed wall images (and more interesting images) in IRC?
Well, another thought would be to just embedd an IRC or livechat interface onto a site such as bitcoinity.

The more elegant solution would be to have a normal IRC and a public dumping place for the images with a bot announcing new images placed in the folder and posting a link to the image.

235  Economy / Speculation / Re: When the price if Bitcoin rapidly drops I... on: March 23, 2013, 03:45:28 PM
I am looking for the window. The reason is not because my tiny holdings are loosing value, but because I am to poor (as a student) to be able to afford to buy more, even at those low valleys.
236  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Live Event] Drama In The Market! on: March 22, 2013, 06:44:10 AM
I had to pause my tv-series to watch this. Much more exciting.
237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Momentum ,,, How does it feel to be part of it ? on: March 21, 2013, 08:32:10 PM
My point being that if you think that what you are seeing today is momentum, then you have pretty low expectations. I would think that the real momentum will come when we have about 10.000.000 active users and about 5% of the online stores accepts BTC as payment. Those being numbers pulled from my lovely behind.
238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Momemtum ,,, How does it feel to be part of it ? on: March 21, 2013, 04:57:59 PM
I don't really agree. I would say that we are at the stage where the second follower is just thinking about joining but haven't yet done so.
239  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: At what price will you cash out your Bitcoin stash? on: March 21, 2013, 04:39:22 PM
At what price will you cash out your Bitcoin stash?
When cashing out half our Coins gives us anough money to be "rich".
Enough to buy a house (we have a specific size of house in mind) outright and have enough left over to have an income sufficient to no longer need to work.

That's pretty much how I think on this subject. The best case scenario though, would be if BTC was the standard for buying "bricks and mortar" kinds of wares. Then a cash out would not be needed.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help wanted to retrieve "lost" android wallet - 2BTC reward! on: March 17, 2013, 01:48:12 PM
Update:

Running the modified version of the program has not helped. It seems like the program is just stuck at "connecting to peers".

I have actually found a file called de.schildbach.wallet-2.asec using a data recovery app. However, I cannot figure out how to extract any kind of real data from the file. It's 17.1Mb big.
