Not necessary but in long term yes, i dont know if you knew but when the bitcoin droped 20% few weeks ago, there was a few gaimers, like +60%, 80%, etc...
But the question here is, if BTC falls its price 100%, and you have for example 300 Segwit2x(1 S2X/$300), how do you sell it? i mean? where?.
There has to be one of biggest coins with some positive value, like ripple, ethereum, litecoin, because there is people who buy/sell this coins in some real places, but why buy S2X if BTC is 0? Or you can trade B2X/USD, and withdraw with credit card...i don't know...

I'm not agrre with that fellas, actually most of top 100 coins increased its value x3 x4 x12 i mean x1200% in a year! You need to investigate, see all the communities of the coins that you are interested, look the technology of that coin, Tradingview, etc...

Ethereum is an altcoin, there is not such a competition because bitcoin is the mother of cryptocoin, but anywat, if you want to trade, buy some eth because i think that it will increase its price to > 1800, but maybe BTC arrives 30k 40k, at this point, we don't really know
