1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The world’s first blockchain toothbrush lets u mine coins by brushing your teeth on: October 13, 2020, 06:52:52 AM
First post was April 3rd...

I think this thread may have been inspired by an April Fool's Day joke post somewhere or other.  Getting a scan of your teeth is easy enough for a dentist to do and they can advise if you are or are not brushing your teeth as well as you should.

3  Other / Archival / Re: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Bitcoin Mixers on: October 13, 2020, 06:43:54 AM
Thank you for the link - I've been seeing links to various mixer sites and have been wondering if it more smoke and mirrors than a real thing.  How did you come by this paper? Was it research, or had just just stumbled upon it?  It's interesting how many external to the forum sites are discussing bitcoin, but aren't taking the plunge to visit here.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: What could be the impact of the US election on currencies? on: October 13, 2020, 06:26:56 AM
You haven't really given any examples of why you think the Trump scenario (or Biden for that matter) will affect the markets.  Unless there is a war, pandemic or apocalyptic disaster then the markets will fluctuate up and down - it always does.  If you're hoping to make your fortune on Crypto, then it would seem you are a decade too late unless you want to put a little aside each month until you retire.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Questions about DeFi for Someone New to those Ideas on: September 30, 2020, 12:16:08 AM
Are people only trading the crypto they borrow or withdrawing and doing other things with it (possibly in the real world?)

If people are mainly just trading what they borrow, what happens if they lose all of it/a lot of it and can pay back the amount?

I haven't looked into defi before now (and your English is a little stilted), but if I'm reading your question correctly, then I can see a big crash coming in the defisphere.  Borrowing and not paying back in this forum is seen as a scam.  Once people get a taste for borrow/not pay back/borrow again, we'll see a whole new wave of scams occurring.

Think Mortgage Subprime.  Debt was on-sold to those who thought they could make a quick buck, then on-sold again (and again).  The debt never went away.
6  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: we need more volatility and faster bear bull bigger losses or bigger profits on: September 30, 2020, 12:01:23 AM
we need more volatility more bigger bull or bear
...
what you think ?

I think you need more distrust than you already have.

Manipulating the market is what scares ordinary folk who would otherwise be tempted to dabble in the cryptosphere and use any crypto to trade or make purchases as Bitcoin is intended to be used.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin be the ideal currency of the future? on: September 29, 2020, 11:53:36 PM
Bitcoin may be the grandfather (Adam AND Eve??) of all Crypto and have a place for exchanging high volumes of fiat dollars/euro etc, but the smaller than one satoshi it is aimed, then people will turn to other cypto and use the bitcoin to transition their funds back to fiat.  We may have already seen bitcoin at its ATH for that very reason.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are you going to buy into these high rising defi coins now? on: August 31, 2020, 10:38:42 PM
I'd be looking at where the hype is coming from and work out if they are participants, or more likely they are just that building hype around that product.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COCK FIGHTING: COVID-19 health protocols violators, caught on: August 31, 2020, 10:30:08 PM
Most parts of the world abhor any form of animal fighting, so for your region to flagrantly host and participate in those kinds of animal cruelty games, then it is little wonder they have no regard for other people's lives (much less their own I would imagine)
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: History shows Bitcoin price may take 3-12 months to finally break $20K on: August 31, 2020, 10:24:54 PM
Bitcoin is struggling to break $12,000 and stay at that price for any length of time.  There'd need to be some new players (a pod of Whales?) come into the Cryptosphere and take a fair chunk of the available coins off of the market with a strategy to HODL them for three to five years.  If it were a sudden land grab, then that'd shock the market upwards, but if it was done softly-softly, then the market might not necessarily notice at first the availability drying up.

True, the price would go up (supply and demand) but not as much as a shock and awe plunder.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your plans for the coming bull on: August 31, 2020, 10:17:06 PM
If a bull run is going to run for a year then there is no point reaching deep into your purse and making one hefty transaction.  Spread the trades out over the twelve months in monthly, fortnightly or even weekly trades.  Work out what your overall out of pocket is going to be then work out how you might divvy up the trades.  Above all keep a small bag set aside for a long term retirement plan (even if it is as little as $10 worth of Crypto a week - there's no telling where the price will be in ten or twenty years time.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going all in on a Hillary win bet - not a good idea. on: November 03, 2016, 11:30:26 PM
Anyone else has the courage to go all in on Hillary? By all in I mean betting ALL of your bitcoins for a win.

There's some people that's doing this. They are literally going bet all of their bitcoins because they are convinced the election is rigged and Trump cannot win, why not go all in then? Maybe this is a rare opportunity to make a lot of money. Im thinking about it but I don't think I have the balls.

Very brave to go all in for either side.  Having the balls to *not* go all in is far better.

Check out the odds, decide how much you can afford to loose.  Don't forget, if either side were a sure winner, the odds would be "even" or worse.

By all means if you think you are on a winner, it's up to you alone to make the decision to bet, just don't cry afterwards if you loose everything.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I give BTC away? on: October 17, 2016, 10:54:36 PM
Originally I was thinking that printing out a paper wallet would be the way to go, it's safe, just don't keep a copy of the private key or you'll end up in hot water - If you buy a reasonable BTC 0.01 (about $ 6.50 at the moment) they can put it in a safe place like a family bible or the high school year book, something they keep safe, but don't look at all the time.  They can then come across the paper wallet in multi years time and see how much the value has appreciated in those intermediate years.

But then I also thought that you could install a BitCoin Wallet that doesn't download the entire block chain, this way they can experiment with sending each other (I presume you're going to give out to the parents, siblings, children Aunts & Uncles and or cousins all at the one time) the BitCoins.  You can walk them through the receiving their first BitCoins, then guide them through sending each other coins one afternoon at a family gathering.

Then when they've played with BTC 0.01 for a while drop a hefty BTC 0.1 (or more!) into their wallets each and see their beaming smiles when they realise how much you've just given them.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin halving how will it affect price? on: October 13, 2016, 02:50:06 AM
I know that bitcoin blocks are going to be halved to 12.5 next summer.

so how will this affect the price?
As You Know That the Bitcoin Halving Has Been Passed So That I Don't Think That There Is any Effect On The Price Because Of The Halving Even After Halving The Price Decreased.....
I Think That the Halving in 2020 Will Make Us Rich.......

Haven't we already done this thread in another thread?

The price of BitCoins jumped before the halving and has stayed fairly fixed in the low $ 600's for a few weeks now, so this is the new benchmark.

Maybe you should lock this thread.

Okay my rig is mad old its a potato:

Your computer and my computer = DELICIOUS !

I've seen a working TV immersed in liquid CFC to demonstrate it's inert properties.  Isn't there a paste or gum that you can use to remove hard to remove fluff and dirt from hard to reach places on motherboards and cards?
17  Other / Off-topic / Re: How old is your main computer? on: September 26, 2016, 12:58:15 AM
23 years. 386 Dx , 2 mb ram, 0,5 mb vga ram , 170 mb HDD ,1,44 flopy.

If it aint broke, don't fix it is my motto.  My 2001 Win XP Pro box lasted more than a dozen years, it was actually the Mother Board that finally died.  I never had the blue screen of death - ever - not once.

I've replaced it with an acer Win XP Home Edition (second hand) - swapped out the Ram for the maximum (which would have cost a small fortune new) and added a graphics card.

Hasn't missed a beat in the last three years.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way to manage money? on: September 26, 2016, 12:41:40 AM
Each time you receive a utility bill (power, water, cooking/heating gas) pay a little bit extra, it doesn't matter if it's $5 or 5%, $10 or 10%

For the next billing cycle, see what the full amount owing is (not the less the little bit extra you paid) and again pay an extra little bit $5 or 5%, $10 or 10% - what ever...  This will get you just that little bit ahead and can act as a barrier whenever there's an unexpected item such as fixing the car, the house or boat, whatever - You can fix those things and won't have to worry about the utility bills mounting up.

Pick an amont that is easy to add on to your bill and keep paying it each month / quarter when the bill comes in.

Friends where can I get an attractive and decent avatar for free

Type in anything you want into an online search engine "picture of a bottle of Merlot" and it will find you something, you can then narrow down what you are searching for "picture of a bottle of Merlot from France" and go from there.

Cheers!

With the advent of Pokemon Go (and its parent company Google) all we have to do is wait a while and feed the image of your birdbath into Google's search engine and it'll tell us where you are - exact GPS coordinates.

Someone's already taken an archive snap shot of your birdbath http://archive.is/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1465634.0 so it looks like the wait is on...

5 BitCoins are now worth $ 3,134 so you haven't really lost anything yet.
