video card prices are in a bubble.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How long will my gpu last? on: August 19, 2017, 12:48:29 AM
Most of my 7950 cards have worked since late 2012.
Fans started to break down or make more noise.
My 7990 from 2012 is still running like a champ.
All cards have been overclocked.
OTOH my 7870 from 2013 died.  You can also buy replacement fans on ebay too.  Be prepared to break your screw drivers as some of the screws are cemented in.

I would say expect 3-10 years out of your video cards.

I see Vega 64 benchmarks 34.4 mh/s for eth.
I would think the cards can do 43-46 mh/s if a good bios with memory timings is applied.

One would be better off buying 2 x 470 or 2x 480 or 2x 580 or 2 x 570 or 2 x 1060 3gb samsung memory cards.
The performance per cost would be cheaper if going this route.

Currently I see new 1060 and 470 cards under $240.   At 22-28 mh/s per card, this is the best "new" card deal out there.

Where do you live?
In US, I only see those for $270-400, maybe you can find cheaper on ebay, but not easily.

I'm in Silicon Valley.
newegg *had* a sapphire 470 "mining" for $239.99
The nvidia gtx 1060 3gb I've seen sell for $215 to $230 on amazon (wanna get the Samsung memory ones).

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Paying for Modded Bios on: March 31, 2017, 01:30:42 AM
How much would a bios mod cost for RX480? Does it make sense to pay for a mod if I already get 28.4xx MH/s (dual mining) with MSI - Samsung mem?

If you are at 28.4 mh/s then it doesn't make sense to pay for more unless you are running a medium to large scale mine.  29-32 mh/s can bring in more heat and more power draw.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Paying for Modded Bios on: March 30, 2017, 02:52:47 PM
I can get you 29 mh or more.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI RX470 (Samsung) IS BEST PROFIT for gpu mining 29.2 MH/s on: March 30, 2017, 02:45:35 PM
I believe I am using 1500 on my msi 470 oc 4gb. hynix memory.

I also have one that is micron memory?  I thought they only made flash controllers?

Anway @ 1500 memstrap copied downward I cannot do above 1850 mhz or i risk freezing.
-100mv on gpu.  Running 6 gpu quite cool and well in a closed server case

I'm using the rosewill 4000 with 6 x rx 470 cards msi oc.
asrock pro btc 2.0

It seems to be working ok with 1 x 750w rosewill psu
i modified the memory timing and downvolted the gpus by about 97mv.

So far has been running 2 days nonstop with lid on.
13  Economy / Services / Looking for developer that with golang, python, c, c++, and openCL exp on: March 30, 2017, 03:45:08 AM
Looking for developer that has experience with one of the following:  golang, python, c, c++,

Other requirement is knowledge of OpenCL.

I need code optimized and perhaps even converted to use OpenCL in multi GPU environment.

PM or post.

Gunthar's bot works pretty well.  It does crash here and there which kind of sucks.
I find I just have to reboot to resolve some issues.

I'd like it to trade and hold Ether versus Bitcoin at this point in time as Bitcoin's future looks to be on a downward trend.

Gunthar make me a bot for my group Smiley.  I suppose I could buy some more licenses too.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much AC BTU's needed for mining? on: March 20, 2017, 06:26:19 AM
You need about 12000-14000 BTU from a portable AC for every 3000-3500 watts used in a small space.
Secondly, it really comes down to your heat removal techniques used.
Anyway, its cheaper to just vent that heat out of your apartment somehow or have fans suck in and suck out hot air.  Best thing would be to put in garage or outside shed.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX480 (Reference) 31+Mh, Custom Rom on: March 19, 2017, 09:46:39 PM
You should be able to get 28-32 mhs even on a rx 480 sapphire nitro.

Download your bios with atiflash, open it in polaris bios editor.

Copy the memory timing for the 1500 or 1750mhz to the 2000 mhz and higher blocks.

I believe you can copy 1500mhz memory timing code to 1750 and 2000 blocks.

Make sure you backup original bios first.

I don't think you can reach 28 mh's on this card surely. It's 4GB the one I got, if it were 8GB then yes possible. Right?

I don't have much time to explain so please forgive me.

I have a few rx 480 4gb cards and they do 29 - 31 mh/s easily.
rx 470 4gb can do 28-30 mh/s as well.

You need to copy the memory timing in polaris bios editor to the 1750mhz and 2000 mhz memory timing slots.  The biggest gain is by modifying the memory timing / bootstrap.  Second biggest gain and efficiency is by using MSI afterburner and tweaking GPU voltage, mhz, etc.

Try to change the default memory clock from 1750 mhz to target 2000 - 2050 mhz memory on 4gb cards.  If it fails scale it down to 1950 mhz, 1900mhz, 1850mhz, 1800mhz until you find a stable memory clock to mine with.

The only cards I've had problems bringing memory clock up is msi rx 480 4gbs.

Hi Phil, what are your thoughts now of running a solar power operation?

I am thinking of buying and building infrastructure in CA, WA, CO, Oregon or AZ.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: For the first time in a while... seems like there is a shortage of miners on: March 17, 2017, 11:28:38 PM

The best time to mine is during doom and gloom.  So when things are hot, take some earnings and set it aside.  Then create a continuity and contingency plan for when it does crash and rebound.
Furthermore, global crypto market capital is growing as time goes on.  Crypto is becoming an emerging market of tremendous growth and volatility.

Right now, I actually plan on investing in sustainable infrastructure for mining and hosting.  The plan will be for 5-25 years of operations and minimize any disruptions.

biostar tb250 btc, but i can't find it

I have an order on TB250 btc coming in April 21st and I have TB85 sitting in a warehouse if you want some.

Thats over a month away.  How much are you selling your boards?  I'm looking for boards ideally $70 or less.  I can see some boards available now for $80-$125.
