1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zcoin - The Zerocoin cryptocurrency, guaranteeing financial privacy on: October 10, 2016, 01:36:29 PM
READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE HOPPING ON BOARD THE HYPE.

If you don't know already Gary and Poramin are the two devs leading this project. There is some good momentum building up as more and more people are become interested.
I too have been quite enthusiastic about the coin. Hell, I have been spreading the word days before it even launched, as seen here.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=895020.msg16331329#msg16331329

But a reply from a dev in the vertcoin thread which he later deleted made me look into it a bit deeper.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=895020.msg16332895#msg16332895

I wonder how many of you know that Vertcoin creator Poramin Insom is coming up with a Zerocash competitor which is going to be launched very soon.

https://news.bitcoin.com/zero-knowledge-zcoin-launching-soon/
http://zcoin.tech/about.html

There is a possibility of zerocoin implementation on vertcoin via sidechains as hinted by him earlier.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404364.msg9632734#msg9632734

No wonder this coin has been under accumulation for so long!

In before polo troll box gets a whiff of this. Wink

Poramin did create vertcoin, but he also created a few other coins that had huge premines and we're deemed scams . He also was caught doing so pretty shady stuff . He was more or less asked to leave vertcoin or pushed out

As you can see etang6000, who is leading the vertcoin project now had this to say about Poramin :
"Poramin did create vertcoin, but he also created a few other coins that had huge premines and we're deemed scams . He also was caught doing so pretty shady stuff . He was more or less asked to leave vertcoin or pushed out"

This worried me and I started to dig up further and came aross this AMA from Gary from 2015

https://forum.bitcoin.com/ama-ask-me-anything/i-m-gary-le-co-founder-of-moneta-the-world-s-first-implementation-of-zerocoin-ama-t2408.html
I highly recommend going through the entire AMA.

There has been a lot of accusations floating around them.

They created Zerovert coin back in late 2014 and just when it hit some major exchanges a huge premine dumping took place and the devs never replied in that thread ever again.

https://forum.bitcoin.com/ama-ask-me-anything/i-m-gary-le-co-founder-of-moneta-the-world-s-first-implementation-of-zerocoin-ama-t2408.html#p7037

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=846471.0

Zcoin is just rebranding for their other project by the name of Moneta.

https://news.bitcoin.com/first-implementation-zerocoin-released-introducing-moneta/

They took their old code just renamed it as close as possible to Zcash and launched exactly a month before Zcash's launch to get the most juice out of their rusting project.

There has been zero github activity for moneta in over a year
https://github.com/zebbra2014/moneta/graphs/contributors

Github activity as compared to Zcash https://twitter.com/dmfay89/status/779368584086626304
For those saying the devs will correct the faulty codebase in due time ,well they had over a year to fix it and they did nothing
.

Gary has had some other serious accusations thrown at him to which he never gave a clear reply.

https://web.archive.org/web/20141016203212/http://blog.kevinzhang.me/posts/tracking-down-gary-le-the-thiel-fellow-and-dartmouth-dropout-who-tried-to-impersonate-me-an-encore.html
https://forum.bitcoin.com/ama-ask-me-anything/i-m-gary-le-co-founder-of-moneta-the-world-s-first-implementation-of-zerocoin-ama-t2408.html#p7140

So basically the devs have had a history of dumping and abandoning projects and nefarious behavior.
Bittrex and other major exchanges are well aware of it and would be hesitant to list it anytime soon
.

Sincerely hope Zcoin is going to be different than their other coins and it works out for all of it's supporters but due diligence is warranted.

Ohh, I wasn't aware of that. It does change one's perspective a bit.
Zcoin launch won't effect VTC much I guess. Undecided

Looks nice but still waiting for vtc core update..maybe I even close my short position soon..but I think we are gonna touch 5k again before any pump

Still not done buying eh? Wink
5K or 6k doesn't matter ,getting in before the breakout does.
It had a test pump a few days back.
We all know when VTC pumps it moons like crazy. Not long now.

I managed to mine a little but joined a bit late and difficulty was already through the roof. Where can I buy some more?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 12, 2016, 10:42:30 AM
Damn, have been out of crypto for a while.Checked the Waves project lately and have to say it looks very promising.Good to see some big names from the NXT community directly involved.

Fiat gateways directly integrated on a decentralized platform is a much needed feature for crypto mass adoption.Along with all it's use cases, Waves clearly has a huge upside potential.

I regret not being part of the ICO.Guess would have to buy some OTC or should i wait for it to hit the exchanges? Decision time. Undecided

we need more voters, any have idea?

So the goal is to get listed on as many exchanges as possible so the people that got the free coin can sell it?  This is too bizarre.  Something doesn't seem right.

listing on major exchanges would help us get an idea about the coin's value and marketcap and bring us on the map .If we were to set up funds for charities and other events(like dogecoin did) they can know value of the funds they are receiving.

I think most of the COMM owners realize and appreciate the opportunity  that lie in front of us and would not sell at low prices.Where else do you get this kind of active , dedicated ,productive community power capable of making a difference?

Also another incentive to hold is the mining income which POS generates. The longer and more you hold the better income in coins would come your way.

so guys HODL your COMM!

THIS!

People need to understand the potential of their stakes.
Holding like a boss. Cool

Now that  we have started hitting major exchanges
i highly recommend all of you to really hold onto your coins and not sell them cheap.

Hope you understand the importance of what we have got going here.
The Movement has just begun. Let's work together and add more services ,advertising ,create noise, get some merchant acceptance and soon this can spiral into something pretty BIG.

Let's collaborate and make this a roaring success.

Oh lol, i thought i recieved day before yesterday, my bad, but recieved them on 6th morning and its 7th evening here now, so 36 hours. seems i have to wait for another day

Difficulty steadily rises. In the beginning it was 0.0002..., now it is ~ 1. You need essentially more time to create block than estimated 24h. Bigger values of Transaction amount and Waiting time increase Block Generation Probability.
I've mined about 10K COMM so far from 2014-03-28.

current difficulty is almost 4 and increasing steadily.
Guys keep your wallets open and unlocked and  mint new coins . Get as much as you can before the difficulty increases further.
Download version 1.2 if you haven't already.
