2041  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] LeaseRig.net Rent & Hire Scrypt(Jane/Nfactor)/SHA3/SHA256/X11 HashPower! on: May 20, 2014, 08:15:25 PM
I contacted my ISP and they seem to have some problems.

It's a regional DNS issue which should be affecting more than just leaserig.

You can make a hosts file on your miners/LRP rigs if you are having an issue.

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

/etc/hosts

Code:
23.236.58.114 leaserig.net rigs.leaserig.net www.leaserig.net

It seems to be working now.
IMHO, adding that line to the hosts file would affect only website problem in case DNS servers are down. I don't think this was the case, because LRP couldn't connect directly to the IP 23.236.58.114.

? the issue as I understand it was DNS.  LRP would fail if there was a DNS issue.

They didn't quite share that information with me. Just that something was wrong with international connections.
And this only happened with one of the internet providers here.

Same here. They didn't even know what was going on. Maybe it is a CloudFlare problem? It was having problems yesterday.

What are the keys you guys are talking about? Like CD-Keys or some items that are rewarded for playing?

It's an Item in a game called Team Fortress 2.

Oh, I knew what the game was. I was just wondering about the keys. I've gotten a lot of drops but none of those! :p.

Here's a really good explanation of what they are, and they can't be dropped, they must be be bought.

Uh.... Sort of a dumb question, but am I supposed to tell them all my experience and all that in the email? I only said that I wanted to apply for a position, lol.

Not exactly sure, they emailed me back asking for a resume.

There you go then. Send a CV and include a cover letter or intro about how you're fit for the job and hope for the best.

I'll try that, I've sent mine a few days ago and still no response.

2046  Economy / Services / Re: 14MH/s Scrypt hashing power for rent @ 0.015 BTC/MHS/Day on: May 20, 2014, 06:53:41 PM
Prices are at around 0.0045BTC/MHs/Day. Either you haven't checked market prices or your calculations are highly incorrect. Or both.
2047  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New to Mining - Need some Recommendations on: May 20, 2014, 06:52:13 PM
You can mine litecoins, but beware of power consumption if you are mining with GPUs (they are very power hungry)

I just re-read this - what hardware do you suggest that's a good hashrate/$ ??

If you want to mine litecoin or other scrypt coin, maybe you can find some used gridseed (lowest power consumption) at a decent price

I am looking for that too, but I'm in EU and it's like impossible to do so.

I think that now, brand new staff is quite overpriced (especially gridseed stuff at minereu.com). I've heard some rumors about project prime from GAWminer, that probably will change the standards in scrypt mining (like bitmain, before they launched their products ALL the asic market was based on preorders).

Care to expand on that? I only know about the new series of miners that Gawminers is launching...

I will be paying with BTC, let me know how many you got.

How much will you pay for one?
depends on the quantity.

How many do you need?
depends on the price lol.
just tell me how much u got and ill offer a price.
or tell me how much u want for them and ill tell u if im interested and the quantity.

I can buy as many as you want, lol. How does 0.006BTC for one sound?
that is like $2.896, so hell no.
I always buy mine for $1.8 PAYPAL, and since BTC is worth more than PayPal then I would pay a bit less, so no thanks.

Why should I take a loss and sell it to you? Also, they cost $2.49 each, and I need fees to cover the exchange?
Also, $1 in BTC = $1 Paypal.
they cost $2.49?!
if u think so then I can sell u keys for $2 BTC?

I don't need any, but where the heck you are buying them for $1.8???
dude u can find them for $1.8 EVERYWHERE lol...

Found it. Lol, it costs $2.49 on the official Steam Store.
yeah, but if you buy from individuals then yeah that would be $1.8
and no $1 pp doesn't = $1 BTC.

Why doesn't $1 Paypal = $1 in BTC?
2049  Economy / Services / Re: GAW Miners Hiring on: May 20, 2014, 06:50:53 PM
Sucks, that my past jobs dont relate to bitcoin..

Most people's previous employment history probably won't include Bitcoin related positions. As long as you're familiar and/or passionate about Bitcoin and have relevant experience in the field you're applying for you should be fine, so give it a shot.

Uh.... Sort of a dumb question, but am I supposed to tell them all my experience and all that in the email? I only said that I wanted to apply for a position, lol.

2052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Multiple BTC wallets for security? on: May 20, 2014, 06:45:33 PM
Wrong. Viruses can be embedded in the BIOS, and will be activated when you turn on your computer.

This is a rare type of attack that i think can be stopped only with an ever offline PC

That's why I'm saying that the PC should be completely 100% offline.
You have no guarantee that these types of viruses won't be common in the future, and it's better safe than sorry.
2053  Economy / Services / Re: GAW Miners Hiring on: May 20, 2014, 06:44:36 PM
I'm also confused. Am I supposed to email Josh or Joe? I did both to be safe, but it's confusing.

It's still hovering around $490 lol. I'll see if my prediction is correct, $500+ by midnight.

2058  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is china causing this 500+ rally? on: May 20, 2014, 05:48:50 PM
Also, we still haven't found the reason for this rise, no news, no FUD, no anything.

Why isn't it possible that the infrastructure growth and adoption levels are finally carrying the price upwards?

Not everything is as a day trader sees it (short term fud/alerts, short term price spikes/drops).

Smart people are holding long term and have been waiting for this.

Maybe there is no specific reason.  Except increased worldwide awareness/investing/adoption/commerce.

-B-

Yes, but if it's that, it should slowly go up, not spike from $450 to $500.
2059  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is driving the price crazily up???? on: May 20, 2014, 05:47:33 PM
Maybe it's news from the past few weeks? Perhaps people finally have their accounts funded and ready. Or an increase in demand from deals made at last weekends conference in Amsterdam?

Mhmmm... There really hasn't been any innovations at Bitcoin 2014. I expect Coindesks article to tell us the reason.
Maybe so. I was unable to attend this one so I am just guessing. We had a price bump after last years event that I assume was related.

Could China have secretly un-banned btc?  Cheesy

Lol. China never banned BTC. Maybe price is going up because people have only just realized how awesome bitcoin is?
2060  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is china causing this 500+ rally? on: May 20, 2014, 05:42:40 PM
No.

Bitstamp is leading the charge, all other exchanges, including Chinese, are chasing Bitstamp at this point.

I expect the price to get up to at least $500 by the end of the day. Also, we still haven't found the reason for this rise, no news, no FUD, no anything.
