301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: generating unlimited address from same wallet ? on: November 01, 2019, 06:27:53 PM
Hmm...
Author: "I want to create unlimited addresses with electrum"
CoinMixer: "Have you considered using Bitcoin Testnet?"

facepalm.jpg ?
Ehmm.. I'm kind of facepalming indeed, yes.

The quote goes like this, right?:
yes i need to test something ! basically i want to destroy 0.1 BTC among various transactions on a same wallet !
I'll break it down for you:
Quote
yes i need to test something !
Here Author states he wants to try something out:. (He goes, what you probably would describe as: "offtopic" from his main question in the OP)

Quote
basically i want to destroy 0.1 BTC among various transactions on a same wallet
Here Author States that he wants to destroy 0.1BTC using various transactions.

To which LoyceV replied:

Have you considered using Bitcoin Testnet?

Which is a "perfectly valid" reply considering that the Testnet lets you do EXACTLY this: Play around with various Bitcoin-like amounts in an environment that is exactly the same as the real bitcoin network.
Thus the perfect place to try and destroy 0.1(t)BTC among various transactions, for whatever reason Author may have. (without it actually costing him 0.1BTC)

Or have i gone crazy.
302  Other / Meta / Re: Impeachment: Is Greg Maxwell the best choice for being a mod in bitcointalk? on: November 01, 2019, 03:00:18 PM
That's because you are low functioning. I mean the point of moderation is clearly to ensure the optimal information is retained and anything net negative is removed. So of course if they have strong political views that prevent that taking place then IT MATTERS. There will always be a small influence of bias that is impossible to avoid but the extreme moderation bias that is undeniably taking place in some areas of the forum need to be taken in hand.
I've never argued against this particular point you're making.

I just think that even someone with strong particular views can still be a good and well-functioning forum moderator.
Obviously, if their views cause actions that infer with the somewhat "standardized" content moderation policies, eg "censoring" opposite views, action should be taken.

--
This was not what i argued in the first place, so +1 for misquoting me.. I probably shouldn't even legitimize you by responding to this, but whatever.
303  Other / Meta / Re: Impeachment: Is Greg Maxwell the best choice for being a mod in bitcointalk? on: November 01, 2019, 01:58:17 PM
I don't want to go to the details and put forward how Greg's biased point of view is affecting his job as a forum moderator, it would be absolutely unnecessary, it is not about this or that evidence supporting or refuting my concerns, it is about a general situation we are dealing with: a conflict of interests.
But.. But.. it is.. the only thing that matters... (andd oh so slightly)?

I think we've had this discussion in the political section as well a while ago where, i'm not sure who it was, maybe TECSHARE? accused mods of bias, mainly due to them supposedly (maybe they were, i'm not sure, it doesn't matter anyway.) being on the opposite end of his political spectrum, and thus would have some sort of bias. Nothing ever came off of it, (and perhaps, probably rightfully so, as almost everyone has their own opinion about certain things..?), so good luck with this attempt of yours where you can't even conclude *subjective* examples of bias.
--
I don't see what someone's political affiliation alone has to do with his functioning as a moderator (or any public function really..). Is he trashing all of your Bitcoin cash/contrarian topics? No, right?

This thread to me feels like you just want to be some sort of contrarian again for attention, but that might just be me.
304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: generating unlimited address from same wallet ? on: November 01, 2019, 12:38:03 PM
Cant you use checkgap api? and generate new addresses only when they unspent ones are paid? Like by creating a transaction on the last unspent address? Although this can turn out expensive and messy to maintain.

I recently upvoted a solution to a similar question. Read here https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/74410/blockchain-address-gap-limit-solution

i found a easy solution, since electrum supports multiple wallets, i created a gap of 100 address and now i have 10 wallets Cheesy with same master key !

so i can load a random wallet -> random address and have random address out of 1000 address, and still sync them !
Wait; Why wouldn't you simply increase the gap limit on one wallet?
What do you even mean by: "i have 10 wallets with 100 adresses"? That sounds... Highly inefficient?

Simply run this in your console:
Code:
wallet.change_gap_limit(1000)
And it'll set the gap lim to a 1000 addresses in a single wallet, which you can then... do whatever you want with?

I have to say though, for the purpose you're using this for, (assigning some kind of deposit address for each user of your site, correct?), Electrum might not be the best solution to scale this with, or really, to use at all. (?)

so i can load a random wallet -> random address and have random address out of 1000 address, and still sync them !
I guess i'm lucky this isn't my project because i'm already getting anxious from just reading this. How exactly are you assigning a deposit adress to each user? "randomly"? I just don't see how you can do this efficiently with electrum... anyway... just curious.
305  Other / Meta / Re: Can not login account is block for security reasons on: October 30, 2019, 08:23:47 PM
What to do in such case. How long wait the answer to e-mail?

Sorry trombocoin, you are banned from using this forum!
For security, your account has been locked. Email locked...@bitcointalk.org
Emails are usually not answered that quickly. Best thing you can do probably is if it's a ban (or an old account that got locked due to the DB hack
(not sure if that's the case here though, what's more likely is that; someone correct me if i'm wrong here, you used a (wrong?) security question to recover your account (?)),

is to open a thread like this, but with more information as to why you were banned/why your account got locked.

Cyrus/whoever will probably take a look and see if it's a mistake or will be able to explain your locked account further/ask you to prove ownership.

(If it says locked in the ban message, you'll probably need to prove account ownership somehow..?)

306  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Be vigilant of active scammers on YoBit posing as support. on: October 26, 2019, 05:22:40 PM
Same kind of message were shown from else in the same section but members claimed that this is from a clone site,so the same thing happened here?

Or yobit itself trying to scam people with these kind of tricks?
Well, i doubt yobit themselves are scamming people, although, this could be a possibility (?) (as they are definitely not shy from deceiving their "customers"), but they are in fact facilitating it with these kinds of weird-ass systems.

If they would just remove their "code" system, these scams couldn't happen in the first place. I mean, really, what legitimate use cases can you think of where they would be used? Come on. nobody uses yobit as their primary wallet.

No exchange other than yobit has such a system in place that, quite obviously, facilitates scamming. (Really makes you think huh?)

I'm not sure what fees yobit is taking from these codes being used, (I mean, withdrawal fees at the very least.), but still...
307  Other / Meta / Re: Can not post, IP blocked on: October 26, 2019, 02:32:18 PM
Is anybody else having this problem?

I had the same problem today.
After much persuasion, a friend decided to enter the crypto world, so I showed him today how to open btc wallet, how to send and receive btc and finally wanted to help him to register at this forum.
After registration, when my friend tried to make his first post in life on this forum, he received warning that he can't post on the forum because his P is blocked, because he is on the evil list and if he wants to ublock his account he have to pay some btc amount.
Of course he gave up immediately, and this was also his beginning and a definitive end to the crypto world.
I don't think I have chance now to bring him back to the crypto, ever.
Idea that someone who has never sent a single satoshi in his life and does not know how it works, and how to buy or send bitcoin at all, has to pay some satoshi to be able to post in this forum at all is definitely not good and so we will completely refuse some people from crypto which is a tragedy that should not be allowed.
I feel very sad because of it.

I mean, you and your friend are really being overly dramatic here, and if that's what it takes for your friend to be dissuaded from "crypto", i doubt he would've lasted very long anyway.

although -- you do have a bit of a point.

I mean.. It's 2019. Bitcointalk is already using cloudflare-- why not remove evil ip fees for database IP's/IP's that have already been used before, and simply keep them for the IP's of banned accounts + tor exit nodes?

Or am i misunderstanding here that database IP's are in fact not detected as evil IP's by default?

I think i've read somewhere that this is/was the case, and i also think that most phone networks (3G/4G) in countries such as India are detected as datacenter IP's (as opposed to it being residential ones.), which might cause unnecessary "Evil IP" fees for a lot of newbies?

308  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: We've made a new exchange and looking for testers! on: October 25, 2019, 03:57:26 PM
Can you tell what kind of testers you expect to find here? From what i can understand, you are looking for someone to deposit his money just to test the new exchange. For what? Zero fees for testers ! You are kidding, right?
You have to invite or call for testers and pay them for giving an honest feedback. Don't expect anybody to send money to you just to enjoy the no-fees .

Just usual traders, who can give their honest opinion in exchange of not only zero fees, but also an invitation to a closed group where we, as a projects team, will discuss new features, new listings etc. Also, just being one of the first users on our exchange gives you a MASSIVE advantage in our referral program
We already have gathered some traders and so far they are fine with everything we've offered
Are you serious? Why would anyone be hyped over this? It's simply another copy pasted exchange that offers nothing new. Zero. Nada. If anything, you're running a custodian exchange without any form of "trustworthiness" - for a lack of a better term, with what, 10 altcoins?

On top of that, you also require KYC? Who the hell would hand over their KYC data to you? You're (as of right now) a "nobody" and shouldn't be trusted with any data until you've proven to be trustworthy (which is extremely difficult if not impossible if we're talking about such documents.)

And then... Where are you getting your volume from..?

https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/nominex.io - No traffic

https://nominex.io/markets/
Already over 4 million dollars in volume... For an exchange that in now way, shape or form differentiates from it's competitors (from what i can see atleast..), well, that's pretty remarkable.
I'd say you're probably faking your volume, unless it is linked to another exchange? But that doesn't seem to be the case.

Edit: Sorry if i came off a bit harsh- but there's just so many copy paste exchanges that i wouldn't tell the difference,- using a third-party such as netverify to do verifications is indeed a step in the right direction. .. Still though. I don't think you're going to get a popular exchange by doing what everyone else does. (the same altcoins, using almost the same script, the same "refferal earnings" every exchange offers.)-- I wish you all the best though.
309  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is smartmixer.io legit ? on: October 23, 2019, 03:55:03 PM
Threads like this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betteridge%27s_law_of_headlines

If you have to start a new thread here having been unable to find any answers then you already know the answer.

Just to clear up any uncertainty - it's a big, fat, fur lined, ocean going, five bedroom nope.

When it comes to the potential risks involved with mixers I just can't figure out why anyone would choose to wing it with somewhere no one's ever heard of.

Well, i mean they do have a couple of threads here on the forum, and (perhaps due to my lack of searching..) a lack of scam accusations.

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168505.0

So, for small amounts they might work well. They look a bit like Bestmixer though, so not sure how trustworthy their mixing process actually is.

(And they seem to use stuff like cloudflare, so privacy is relative.. although, isn't Chipmixer also using some sort of anti-ddos company by now?)

Other than that- i gotta agree- @OP, if you're unexperienced, or already have doubts about a certain service- why try to use it when there are objectively better solutions out there?

Edit: just remembered that SmartMixer made use of bumping services for their ANN thread in the past. OP may very well be one of them.
310  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Yobit launches DDOS attacks against sites exposing it on: October 18, 2019, 07:44:37 PM
If you didn't know this is how Yobit threatened a blogger previously (unrelated to above). Yobit deleted this tweet afterwards so its unavailable now:

https://i.imgur.com/wbuTraF.jpg
IIRC then I have seen this tweet. Most probably it's true.

Yobit site has a section where recent tweets show up and there I saw maybe. 85% sure!  Roll Eyes
Wait; did they actually offered money to someone who would dox him? Is this for real?

Add that to the pile of shit yobit has been pulling if that's actually real, and i wouldn't understand why anyone still uses them.

Slightly offtopic: i received an email from them like a week ago that they were restarting signature campaign again, but haven't seen them popping up.. Was it so short-lived? Anyone know what happend?

Can you give us your source for this information? Those are definitely very big claims and that people shouldn't automatically believe 100% without a source or proof.

Yep that's reasonable. Tell me what shall I ask him to produce - a screenshot of his mailbox? raw headers of the email?

Quote
Also, though it would probably make sense that the DDOS was from Yobit, how did you or YobitScam.net come to the conclusion that it was indeed 100% Yobit that was doing the DDOS-ing?

Alright he said DDOS-ing started exactly the moment Yobit found out that YobitScam.net flyers were being delivered on the Blockchain life conference which took place 16-17 Oct. Also Yobit sent the abuse complaint with false statements in it (see the first message) to Cloudflare at exactly same time too. If you ask me, cmmon! who else on Earth would have any interest in DDOS-ing those small boring sites. But we can ask him to produce more evidence. Does anyone know can he ask Cloudflare to investigate/confirm that attack?

Cloudflare can investigate all they want, but they'll never be able to confirm whether it was yobit or not, (unless yobit is actually braindead and DOS'd them using their own servers or something)

Without proof of someone on the inside, all that it'll ever be is that it's just a strong coincidence. They could endlessly argue that it wasn't them.

Doesn't really matter for me whether or whether they did not DDOS though, to shape an accurate image of yobit as a company, considering the other facts -> (Pump & Dump schemes, no support etc), but i neither would be surprised at this point if they hired someone to stir some shit.
311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Desktop wallet: any risk of hardware backdoor? on: October 11, 2019, 03:21:11 PM
Do you think there is any possibility of hardware backdoor, or any leftovers from Windows, that would put my bitcoin at risk? I plan to use it as my main, home workstation.

There is a huge difference between it being possible, and it being likely.

I'd say that, unless you're specifically targeted, the chances of someone tampering with your hardware is extremely small.
Although i also doubt someone would be able to "hack" a processor to spy on you, even if you were to be specifically "targeted". I think it has happend/is possible, but then we're really talking about government operations 95% of the time.

Quote
any leftovers from Windows,
This would be more likely, and much easier for someone to do. But a simple factory reset where you override the previous partitions really should be sufficient. Except of course if the previous owner of your harddrive has worked at the NSA and knows how to create such a persistent virus. -- aka: extremely unlikely if not impossible .

312  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to bypass KYC methods? on: October 11, 2019, 12:18:38 PM
I was stupid enough to believe this government-forced bullshit which anyone can bypass with a bit of photoshop.
I think you might be severely underestimating how advanced most techniques are that services such as netverify use to check whether a document is real.

Even if you get away with that, you are, correct me if i'm wrong, looking to use a fake ID on the exchange, but use your real bank account to send money to the exchange?
I'm not sure where you're from, but if it's anything like an IBAN or SEPA(?), they'll start asking questions real soon, maybe not for 50$, but for bigger amounts, you might very well get investigated -- not to mention,

you essentially linked (on purpose) your name (with your bank account!) to "an identity" (fake id) ...that is committing identity fraud.... You're not anonymous in any way, if anything: quite the opposite?

I don't think you've really though long and hard about this? Why go through all this trouble just to purposely commit identity fraud? They already know everything if they'd wanted to due to your wire transfer, (i assume)

This, ofcourse, is aside from the fact that it's just stupid to defraud an exchange for all the reasons listed above...
313  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: October 10, 2019, 07:23:43 PM
Hi all, (first time poster here)

Is the site currently functioning as it should? I sent some BTC earlier today and it has yet to appear on chipmixer, although I can see on the blockexplorer that it did indeed go to the "send to" chipmixer address.

I've sent an email to support... :/

Side note: When I made the transaction, I got 4 confirmations in about 10 minutes, there were a bunch of really fast and small blocks on the chain, don't know if anyone else noticed that. (Random chance?)
No, that's normal, depending on the amount, you should receive your chips almost always after the first confirmation. (Or vouchers)
When you restore/check your session->

If it looks like this, while you're 100% certain you've sent a transaction which is now confirmed to the chipmixer deposit adress, you should indeed contact their support.

There has been a couple cases recently of Chipmixer not recognizing certain transactions(?), so that might be it.

(Or, you have been phished/ clipboard attacked? (Let's hope not!))

That happens from time to time, it shouldn't matter.
314  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase Locked my Bitcoin for 72 Hours. on: October 10, 2019, 07:14:49 PM

that's definitely true for US and EU residents---KYC is required just to use them as a hosted bitcoin wallet. i'm not sure about other jurisdictions though. it sounds like KYC still isn't required in the OP's case.
I highly doubt that. I'm pretty sure KYC is required (for trading at least!) for all jurisdictions Coinbase operates in.

Imagine how easily abusable that would otherwise be? Residential IP of X country with an EMI/throwaway PP account?

Found this:
Coinbase is a licenced crypto exchange based in the U.S. A full list of the licenses it holds is here. All that the exchange requires to open an account is a full name, an email address and a password. While this means that anyone from anywhere in the world can store, send and receive cryptocurrencies using a basic Coinbase account, ID verification is required to buy and sell cryptocurrency in the 33 countries it supports.
Makes sense that you don't need KYC to use them as a wallet (I'm assuming this is also the case in EU/US jurisdictions (?)).

What doesn't make sense is why they would ask OP for KYC if above is the case... Hmm. Something must've been triggered i guess? (weird IP login or anything of the kind?)
Or Coinbase is just messing with OP to get him to verify his KYC info...

They want photo ID to complete this withdrawal Right now but I don't want to provide the photo ID.

You mind telling us why you used Coinbase in the first place if you're not willing to submit KYC information? Not trying to be an ass here, but I thought identification details is mandatory with Coinbase if you're making buy/sell offers; and that big exchanges like Coinbase have been known to be demanding KYC information in the first place.
It sounds like he's simply using coinbase as a wallet, although, now that i think about it, that's quite weird? Why would you first receive BTC on your coinbase wallet adress, only to then send it to electrum?

Just use electrum in the future.   Tongue
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Earning interest on coins through DeFi. Is it Safe/Legit? on: October 10, 2019, 08:27:00 AM
Is there any platform for this Decentralized Finance (DeFi) where you will make your investments?

Can you mention one so that I can study? I'm not interested in earning interest but I'd like to learn more.
There's a couple, I'll give you some examples

Compound Finance - this is probably the most popular one and I've recently starting looking and using it.

Nuo - provides daily interest to you by lending out your funds on a decentralizated plaftorm.

Fulcrum - regular decentralization lending platform

dYdX - a exchange with options to trade, borrow and lend.

Don’t NEXO and SALT fall in the same category?
Nexo: https://nexo.io/ (6.5% interest?)
Salt: https://saltlending.com/

And of course celsius? https://celsius.network/

Edit: yeah i was half asleep making this post. Above are obviously not decentralized, but still might be worth looking in to if you’re interested in these sorts of platforms.

I just came to be aware of a new concept (to me) in the crypto space called Decentralized Finance (DeFi). It aims to offer the services of classic financial institutions through smart contracts and blockchain.
One of the use cases is to earn interest, as one would expect in a bank.

I just want to know your critical views whether one should involve is such or not. Would like to know if anyone of you used such platforms?
Many hodlers' coins keep on lying and this might be an additional source of income for them.

Ps: I am not talking about any Ponzi's that claim to multiply your deposits.
I myself think they’re pretty weird. AFAIK, your funds (with most platforms at least), arent actually insured, and these interest rates seem way to high for such collateralized loans imo (but the interest rate goes down dramatically if you put more than x BTC in such platforms, (which is kind of weird because, with a rate cut from 6.5 to 0.8%, i’d either multiaccount in a legal way or simply find another lender, right?))

I think it’s kind of a lazy way of utilizing capital at this point, and i can’t (if they’re actually legit), again, see how they would keep up such rates.
Perhaps i dont fully understand their business model, or the interest for such loans.(?)
316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin or altcoin vouchers and giftcards on: October 04, 2019, 02:02:51 PM
I can't "vouch" for them personally, but i've heard good things about them; https://cryptovoucher.io (It supports BTC/STEEM/BNB/ONT, whatever the hell that is  Tongue)

If you use SEPA, no KYC needed ( i think?)

If you're in the EU/ or use IBAN, you can try https://igiftcards.nl/cryptovoucher/giftcard?c=eur&v=10 - again, i haven't tried them myself, but i've seen them being recommended a lot. The latter also seems to be accepting paypal? (Only verified accounts though i'm pretty sure, otherwise they'll immediately refund you, they have a lot of feedback/antifraud in place.)

If you want to "gift" someone bitcoin using a "voucher"-format - the options above could work perfectly fine, but you'll be depending on a third party. See some of the  other recommendations given if that's not something you want. It's somewhat unclear what you're asking here to be fair.
317  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: fox.exchange -- Coin to Coin exchange (Like shapeshift but no registration!) on: October 03, 2019, 02:27:20 PM
last time i needed a service like this (a few months ago) i used flyp.me---worked very smoothly, no KYC.

ShapeShift probably wants to continue 'easy operations' in the US. If Fox.exchange says screw it and just requires VPN use then no need to listen to the US Wink

maybe. i honestly don't know how much longer that model will hold up. you've got american FINCEN closing in on one side and the EU commission on the other. they're picking off the low hanging fruit (like 1broker) first, but the CFTC is already investigating bitmex for allowing americans. bitmex doesn't do KYC and they allow VPN usage. so the CFTC probe is a sign of things to come IMO.
Meh. I don't think it matters much for these kind of P2P services. Fox.exchange will probably just keep operating, and as soon as an investigation is launched, they'll probably just close shop, - or open a new company using another shell on another island.

US will never catch them, or atleast, it will never be really worth it to do so.

Bitmex though, yeah, that's a different story. I could see some compliance issues real soon.

Why? I don't know. (Well, i could make an educated guess- censorship driven nation etc- but no particular explanation about Bitcointalk can be found anywhere it seems.)

Edit: *blocked by some providers, not banned.
319  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lost btc in change address, any help please? on: October 02, 2019, 02:18:11 PM
I have a feeling you corrupted your wallet.dat somehow? (Or, obviously, derived a different dataset of adresses.)

Can you check if you still have the keys for the adress you originally got your funds on?

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/3P2UsEAdCWAKNzLNqxybcELB78ihGsmP5n

This one? (I'm guessing you do- otherwise it wouldn't display the transaction data at all- still, this is very weird. I'd love to see an answer as to what the problem might be here, although i suspect it somehow will be extremely trivial...)

If you do have the keys for this one- there's likely a problem regarding the change adresses(?)- if you also don't have the private key for this adress anymore - you most likely don't have the same seed/(impartial wallet.dat) as you did before(?)

Anyway, this is a really weird story.

On bitcoin core are you still able to see the transaction under the Transactions tab?
I don't think that'd matter much. The wallet could just monitor the adress for transactions.

Was the original address (3P2UsEAdCWAKNzLNqxybcELB78ihGsmP5n) an imported address? Huh Did you ever import a private key to this wallet?
Would that even matter at all as to which change adress is used?

More options?

What more options are you looking for? The best options have been presented to you above.

If you don't know how to set up BTCPay server then ask someone trusted on this forum to do it for you, or explain to you how to do it.

In the end, whatever you end up doing, it will cost you something. Centralized payment processors charge a fee, and BTCPay server requires you to pay for a hosting plan.
I think you can also just use a third party such as https://btcpayjungle.com with almost (if not) exactly the same functionality. Atleast- that's what i've read about it.

And they run on a donation based model-- so, 100% free. Of course there's some trade offs versus running your own node. ->
