581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: USI Tech Coin ICO - legit or scam? on: November 28, 2017, 08:50:23 PM

What do you think of USI Techcoin ICO,

'The official TECHCOIN initial coin offering whitepaper will be released as soon as the first 500,000,000 million coins are accounted for then they will release details regarding use cases and unique coin features. This is also when they will issue another 500M coins available for public sale and trading."

Do we know what are tokens for? 1 billion in total

https://bitcoinexchangeguide.com/usi-tech-coin-ico/

For me, I would say its really going to be hard determining a project like this is either scam or not but larger percentage of my understanding will be tilted towards the negative direction because for a project that jabs not announced anything on what they are basing their decision on as to what represents their motivation, they are talking about releasing 500 million coins before that can be done. Then they talk about 1 billion coins, that is another level of joke that just throw up in looking at the message up there.
582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PRE-ICO] Graft - credit card and crypto payment processing network on: November 28, 2017, 08:20:16 PM
It seems there is a push back on the project as to the start date of the ICO but what I am surprised at is that there is no discussion about the the importance of this project and the gap that it seeks to fill in this era of several project coming out and competing for space and attention. Rather what I am seeing are only something related to mining grf or running the node which to me should be a discussion after the ICO. I might be wrong though.
583  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: anonymosity of bitcoin on: November 28, 2017, 07:32:58 PM
We all know that most of the illegal transactions take place through bitcoins as it cannot be tracked.
But I read in some websites that many intelligence agencies have started to find a method and have had significant progress.
Is it true?would our trading be at risk as many of us earn a lot and don't pay any tax to the government.

I don't see any threat whatsoever in what government is trying to do to unravel the anonymity behind bitcoin because I don't have anything to hide. Even aside bitcoin, there is a way to know the sites you visits and every activities you carried out on those sites and its the responsibility of government to do their job in keeping the citizen safe so, if they are doing their job there is no reason for me to go against that because if they come after me, they won't find anything illegal ad the only thing I can be guilty of in an extreme case would be tax liabilities which is even a civil case.
584  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading vs holding on: November 28, 2017, 06:13:00 PM
Under what circumstances is trading preferred over holding?
Btc reaching 10k$ way before new year is a big shock, your opinions would be very helpful.

The income from trading cannot be compared to holding no matter what because the income is possible to increase the 0.01btc to maybe 0.05btc but as much as there is the possibility of making money, so also the possibility of losing it if not done right or made the wrong decision as that is what is common most times and why some people shy away from any form of trading. But if you are not ready for the risk, don't go near it.
585  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Equipment for trading on: November 28, 2017, 12:04:19 PM
Hey people,

Just wanted to know which set up is the best for trading, because i need to get a new laptop and really thinking about going for a macbook.
Trading is not possible with a Ipad Pro.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Greetings

The only equipment I can't think of as a prerequisite to trading is nothing other than the skills. With trading, you don't need any capital investment at all as what you currently have is enough to change your own fortune for the better and gradually you can then start to gather the equipment to make it better enterprise by going further to  install bots that won't work on mobiles or ensuring there is an extra security to make funds safer and the likes.
586  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which is more profitable trading exchange or mining and why?? on: November 28, 2017, 08:48:44 AM
Currently, I would take buying as a better option as against mining. Mining is just too complex for someone who does not know much about the technicalities that surrounds the configuration alone is enough to make me avoid it not talk of the cost of setting up the rig and to make it profitable. With all this, buying would save all that and wait for it to appreciate and you could get the profit maybe with longer time but surely lower effort.
587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Korea's Prime Minister Is Worried Bitcoin Is Corrupting Kids on: November 28, 2017, 07:31:03 AM
Korea's Prime Minister Is Worried Bitcoin Is Corrupting Kids

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-28/korea-s-prime-minister-is-worried-bitcoin-is-corrupting-kids

What you all guys will say about this?

If the government is concerned that bitcoin is corrupting kids then the value system of the country has lost its social value system and every parent in that part of the world have lost the sole purpose of why they are parent which is to implant in their wards the morality and social system is going to be with them till the rest of their lives even after the time they are old enough to make their own decisions.

If they are now pushing the blame on bitcoin, they had better go back to the drawing because even without bitcoin, they have lost it already.
588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some new forks coming up for bitcoin??? on: November 28, 2017, 05:18:08 AM

Hi Folks,
Just received this email from QoinPro. Not sure, whether this is official, but isn't it strange that there are so many forks now coming up for Bitcoin. Is this the reason for the bullish ride today of Bitcoin?

Here the message in quotations:
"We've had BCH (Bitcoin Cash), BTG (Bitcoin Gold) and BCD (Bitcoin Diamond) and more forks are coming. Forks planned for December 2017 and January 2018 are:
•   Dec 17, 2017 - Super Bitcoin (#SBTC)
•   Jan 2, 2018 - Bitcoin Cash Plus (#BCP)
•   Jan 28, 2018 0 B2X reattempt by the community (#B2X)"

Unfortunately this is what we have to live with as it seems developers no longer want to go through the hassle of developing a working project. To go for an ICO, the publicity, the whole analysis of the project up to the point of knowing who and what the project is all about, the legality that surrounds it, among other issues which I feel necessitated the continue and no end in sight of the several forks that are yet to come. All I see here is some people needing to keep their wallet fat and not anything extra to contribute to the community.
589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reduced transaction fees on: November 28, 2017, 04:25:27 AM
As the value of BTC has increased almost 10 fold, do we expect the fees to come down? The charge for small transactions are very high right now.

We are glad for high prices but that should not translate to high fees which is what a lot of people are clamouring about but I am kind of indifferent to situations like that because when I want to make a transaction, I consider the amount of time I have in my hand to wait for the  transaction to get confirmed and that is what will determine whether I will pay high or low fees. For the small transactions, the best is to avoid it if possible by all means for now as its not anywhere close to being economical.
590  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dragonslayer Conspiracy on: November 28, 2017, 03:53:24 AM
A lot of things are going behind the scene that is definitely not open to quite a number of us but at the same time, its a conspiracy but also have some take home for someone who is conscious of the activities of the market not to just be happy about the increase in the price of bitcoin but be also careful of the possibility of this might be true. For me,  every areas to gather knowledge is open for exploration.
591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin gambling is legal? on: November 27, 2017, 09:00:59 PM
It depends on both, your country and the legality of Bitcoin. Some countries do not allow the people to gamble and some of them do. Now if your country doesn't prohibit gambling then it is probably legal. But now it also depends if your country has any rules against Bitcoin too or not. If there is no such rule in your country which stops anyone from gambling but Bitcoin is banned in the country then i guess it would be illegal as you are using an illegal currency for gambling. If the authorities find out what you are doing, you might have to face problems. If Bitcoin is neither legal nor illegal in your country then you are free to do it ofcourse.

Countries in the middle east to the best of my knowledge because of the way they are being ruled through various Islamic injunctions, there is no justification whatsoever for gambling whether fiat or btc. But for my country gambling on its own is legal so far you can meet the terms and condition among which the most important one is 18 years the moment that is settled, you are good to go without any limitation. With bitcoin coming to the mainstream, the law is still silent as to which direction we want to go.
592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin casino's are the FUTURE! on: November 27, 2017, 02:41:00 PM
Online gambling site is a profitable sector of business, many new sites popping like a mushroom offering a new and better site. its a possibility that offline casino will run out of player because many of them switching to online casino.

Online gambling will probably not replace offline casinos completely, but they are losing a whole lot of customers to online gambling.
It's not like it's a recent thing too, just looked up some articles and found some from as early as 2010, saying that local casinos are having less gamblers due to the increase of popularity of online gambling.

I mean, Vegas will always be a popular destination for gamblers, I doubt that they lose that many revenue because of online casinos, but some of the smaller casino's can't fight the competition.

As time goes on, a lot of this offline sites will have to either make their platform available online or they phase out of business and the reason is simple. To access an offline gambling site, you have to physically 18 as applicable in most countries of the world but online, no one does any verification to confirm if you are 18 or not. As time goes on, the older people currently patronising the offline gambling sites will live their live or reture at some point which then leave the younger generation to take over but because they have tasted the freedom of online platform, I don't see them subsitituing that for anything else.
593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is making us money while we sleep, people! on: November 27, 2017, 01:08:44 PM
One of the key fact to riches is making money while sleeping because the amount of hours you use to sleep is even more than the one you use in doing effective work and what bitcoin made available is that you don't have to have a million dollar to invest in other to enjoy such opportunity but with few dollars you are able to save, you are sure of making money gradually which is all courtesy bitcoin.
594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miss Universe Betting Odds on: November 27, 2017, 05:30:06 AM
I love betting on these! Thank you for making it available.

At first look on the odds, I like France, Spain and the USA. I reckon Trump will want to pull some strings to make America great again hehehe.

I hope you also open Game of Thrones betting on 2019 for season 8. We have a lot of GoT fans in the forum. Sadly, only Bitsport has made it open for betting.

Lol so you had thought making America great again would mean winning Miss  World beauty peagent oh maybe because Trump was a model himself though. But that's too sarcastic from your end unfortunately the influence of the United States didn't get the winnings though.

Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa won as expected.

Does anyone know how sportsbooks get the right odds for these forms of contests? Do the oddsmakers have inside information on them? I reckon there has to be. It would be very dangerous to make odds available without scientifically studying the contest. But how do they do it?

@Nitrogensports. Care to answer? hehehe.

Spoortbooks depending on how big they are with who and who they are connected with, will have some amount of information not open to a lot of us.of course they won't admit openly because that would mean bad for the company but anything whatsoever that people are involved there is an element of information sharing.
595  Economy / Gambling / Re: Show BitcoinTalk: KOIN Multiplier on: November 27, 2017, 05:06:02 AM
Quote
Every 3rd transaction that gets 3 confirmations will win x2 = 0.002
I saw there is more than 3rd first transaction that has 3x confirmation. How about the house edge? Is there no house edge? Then how you'll get profit with it?
The chance is 1/3, so for every 3 person who will send 0.001 only one person could win 0.002. Total for 3 players 0.003 minus the prize of the winner 0.002 equals 0.001 (0.003 - 0.002 = 0.001). Meaning this 0.001 will go to the owner of the site if I'm not mistaken?

That's exactly the only explanation this can be given because it seems Op wants people to just send money and hope to be the third person who did same. But he didn't tell us how the third person is going to be determined. Winning in gambling is not this easy and when it seems so, its an indication that the money is going out with no hope of coming back. I don't understand why someone will design something like this with element of ponzi scheme written all over it thinking people will just start sending in the money.
596  Economy / Speculation / Re: why this pump ?? on: November 26, 2017, 10:05:18 PM
I think Thanksgiving played a huge part. Seriously. People who hadn't seen their relatives for a long time got together at the dinner table, and inevitably, if one of the family members was into bitcoin, the discussion eventually moved in that direction. People got interested in bitcoin, wanted in, which led to an increase in demand and therefore the price. Even if it might not be entirely responsible for the surge alone, I'm fairly convinced that Thanksgiving dinners were very important.

This is one of a reason that I haven't thought of at all and cant imagine how this would really play out and immediately someone discussed it in the family, the others just went all in, in a matter of days without even trying to understand what bitcoin is really about.

The reason for this is not what I feel matters because we can't really do anything about it but what we can all make out of it is what matters. A lot of things will happen, we all want a reason but truth be told even the reasons we give ourselves, are just mere speculations which is not even close to the real truth.
597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Fraud,' or the Future of Finance? on: November 26, 2017, 04:29:01 PM
For every  invention, there are always two sides to it. The advancement of technology which led to the break out of the internet today is still being seen as the cause of so many social problems we have in the world today. From crime to loss of moral values, loss of the connection of family, exposure to the amount of knowledge that made one question the very reason of existence and the likes.

So also is to bitcoin, while some are bent on saying it should not be allowed, others are saying its the best thing you can hope for which a lot of us have keyed into. It then depends on which side of the table you personally want to feature from.
598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin anonymity broken. You have to pay tax on: November 26, 2017, 11:09:36 AM
The IRS has broken Bitcoin anonymity.

Apart from the obvious impact on criminals, this also means that all Bitcoin investors will be forced to pay taxes of their earnings. And be fined for past Bitcoin earnings they have not reported.

https://www.technocracy.news/index.php/2017/08/28/bitcoin-loses-anonymity-irs-tracks-bitcoiners-new-blockchain-analysis-tools/

There is still some good news from this even though a lot of people might not agree but from this point it then means that there is some form of legality to bitcoin and not illegal as some people might want to paint it. A lot of people actually want to pay tax and disclose their income but they don't know how to go about it because of the dicey nature of the interpretation of the law but with this, we are sure to know which side of the law we belong to.

The concern I will have is going back to tax what was not known is like a punishment which I feel should be suspended or else, users will start looking for new ways to break the law.

As a newbie considering making his first purchase I'm looking for some advice as to which coin would be the most beneficial to invest in now (mid-long term).

My starting budget is 500 GBP (approx. 662.31 USD).

I'll be using coinbase so my options are Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Stay Frosty.

MDH.

You have a very nice list up there and I must say if you stick to those ones, you make profit without stress although lower than you expectation. Any of the above will get you profit but my opinion, is to focus on Litecoin while you give some lower percentage to other two options and the reason for that is because, Litecoin is still below $70 which makes it a high potential for growth without unnecessary noise that happens to the other two in a case there is a significant increase in their value.
