501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥 PureVidz.net: Decentralized Streaming WebTorrents 🎥 VIDZ - Trading Now 🎥 on: January 25, 2017, 02:24:19 AM
Pure_Vidz, thanks for explanation. I didn't realize ipfs was based on hosting your own files instead of offloading them onto the network. I see the resemblance to torrents instead of decentralized dropbox links. I love the incentive structure based on bounties. I hope the test goes well, and eventually I can use links hosted by unknowing others instead of me just due to the fact of the encryption and distribution of fragments of files making the use of vpn not necessary and doesn't require running a host for prolonged periods of time after initial upload for a low effort contributor. Exciting times.

One more comment - does this mean the ipfs traffic on this would be limited to people providing content? I dont know if it's an issue for safety that this ipfs would be just limited to vidz users and I think might be easier targeted than a much larger network where vidz content could hide among much other. My biggest concern is privacy with easy to track direct connections torrents have. Unfortunately I'm only mostly aware of storj and sia and not ipfs/swarm so far. I have little trust for ethereum security and sia is a design praised by extremely difficult to please cryptographers including fluffypony with data sharding and everything. The beauty there is that the network would be only small part of larger network, the files are not only encrypted but broken up in nonsense pieces among many upload providers giving them plausible deniability of knowing they were complicit in something illegal. Ok, last comment. I'm stupidly super excited about this. I thought I'd have to code this myself, but I'd rather just be a user. I wish you the best of luck and fortune.

Very important - IPFS wont have people seeding the data if you go that route because they have blacklists for nodes on by default for copyright items. e.g. https://twitter.com/petertoddbtc/status/653784515874299904

Sia is the best very very fast decentralized file storage/sharing system with great encryption and thus data neutrality already working with the incentive token out, no need to wait for filecoin. You can do sharing, everything is encrypted, it's the way to go. But maybe I'm missing something good about ipfs.

Seems like an interesting thread and project. In a tdlr what is up with people screaming scam?

It happens in every coin where the children buy into ico and act upset when they can't cash out in a few weeks for huge profits. I can't even imagine the level of stupidity to think the devs should care about them cashing out at profit instead of focusing on making the project the best it can be. The worst is when it's actually doing good and all the idiots start posting updates on every price movement. Complete waste of everyone's time.

Devs have been giving updates occasionally, although I wish there were better more structured updates like every week. This project is one of the most promising in crypto today, gets rid of the whole concept of centralized alt exchanges. And at the moment it's way ahead of copycats.

Crypto is not investment funds where someone owes you something and there's a legal backing. It's a ultra high risk new experimental type of crowd funding, assets, technology where the rules are non-existent.

@Eliphaz Fimk, I would recommend creating a new moderated thread, where you could be able to ban imbecilic teenagers that have too much spare time too waste.

It's best practice to put everyone calling everything a scam for no reason and talking about price like it matters on ignore. They are simply irrelevant to the tech.

But I hope to see more posts from devs giving status updates. Many projects in crypto started doing weekly status updates to keep everyone informed, would be great to see same here.

I highly recommend just ignoring every poster that mentions anything about price.  They contribute nothing to any conversation on low volume alts where fundamentals rule.

I'm excited about today's release, but don't mind any delays. 50% airdrop was super nice.

Wrong thread,

NO release, NO airdrop

I got my 50% bonus heat on openledger as a transaction, no idea about others.

Day for estimate is not over yet anyway. https://twitter.com/heatcrypto/status/821354620593340419

508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AMP - The Currency That Powers Your Attention On Synereo on: January 19, 2017, 08:11:04 PM
The activities are pretty weak overall. I'm thinkin' people are expecting to be disappointed on the 20th... They already got people's money... then another year of no product?  Roll Eyes 2 plus years still no working working alpha? It all sounds like vapor to me, everything just doesn't add up. All noise and hot air.

Will just keep churning it.

More like "just keep crying" that you didn't get in at 3.5k like some of us.
What is even the point of your posts. You say the exact same fucking thing now for 40 posts in a row.

Someone ban this shit already ffs...

All talk of price should be banned since it's a waste of time. You're spamming boards with pictures of memes and lambo's - useless banter that has nothing to do with the project, while he's actually informing new people about amp's failure to deliver.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spectrecoin [SPEC] Untraceable Tx | Ring Signatures | Tor | Exchanges on: January 15, 2017, 06:07:30 AM
This is a joke right? Shadowcash was deanonymized by xmr dev in one day because sdc devs don't know first thing about how ring signatures work. Tor is also poor privacy network, which is why xmr is including i2p integration instead. zeroknowledge proofs are a bad thing in crypto because they are a trusted-setup technical failure. "SPEC is the most private and anonymous cryptocurrency network today." - this is quite a statement with zero technical reasoning.
510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: RISE | Under Construction | Building A Brand New Codebase on: January 07, 2017, 01:54:44 AM
Don't stress over prices at these volume levels - it's basically just noise. This could easily go below 100 satoshi. Real prices is when demand drives volume and attracts market makers. There's too much discussion about irrelevant prices, devs are active, and have been updating us more than ever. Hopefully they keep it up. I also think it will be months before they re-design the codebase and release something.

I dream that this gets PvP and PvP leaderboards.

I can't connect to https://steemd.com/ to see user growth stats at all, anyone else have that problem?

Fair point. i can see how similar tech can offer speed advantage at the least. but heat doesn't need to compete against polo. It simply needs to provide an alternative that feels safer to use through decentralization. There are people daily asking for some good options for decentralized exchanges to get the popular coins without putting your name onto some tracked database out of concern lets say for unknown future policies, and they are simply lacking right now. Good example is xmr (or insert your fav anon coin here) - there's currently no good decentralized way to keep your anonymity moving between btc and xmr. Anyway, it's all exciting, just want to make sure heat differentiates itself from bts by spreading outside of its niche foundation tech like graphene is for bts like nxt is for heat since it isn't restricted to it and hence the huge advantage. I feel bad for all the people in the ark thread unaware of this project being so far ahead of accomplishing everything they want.

They should be adding clients going by market cap, not random ico no one likes or wants like iota, komodo, and so on. if you want to actually solve a problem people have - a decentralized exchange - you have to prioritize coins by volume - btc, eth, etc, xmr, xrp, fct, dash, ltc, icn, usdt, and so on, not tiny vaporware crypto we see in 99% of announcements. One at a time if you must, but providing a service that there's demand for is what's important.
515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ――――――――――――――――― ▲ MOIN ―――――――――――――――― on: December 20, 2016, 10:37:16 AM
What do I do with wallet.dat I have from back up in the new moin wallet? I see I can make HD wallet now with phrases, but how do I restore wallet from a file. I went through all the options and can't find it...

I updated wallet to latest version on linux64, it's showing all balances as 0, while it says I'm staking with about the right network weight I had before. Kinda confused what to do with wallet.dat to get a clean start.
516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PLUTON CROWDSALE - Complete Sale Stats Released on: December 20, 2016, 09:24:40 AM
Easiest money ever. It's clearly 1-3% rebate for bitcoin spending given as plutons. (e.g. https://getplutons.plutus.it/longevity-calculator ) So value should be close to 1-3% of a btc or 0.01 to 0.03 btc/plu. Right now it's priced at 0.00159 btc/plu. that's roughly 10x growth room for something being released in up to few months. I think I'm going to hang on to mine.
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: December 19, 2016, 04:28:40 PM
Being added to polo is death sentence for crypto. There are a lot of idiots that sell crypto there any time btc moves up. It's practically the worst place for altcoins possible with the dumbest traders.

519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTR] vTorrent - Share with freedom | 2FA | HD | @Bittrex on: December 07, 2016, 05:57:34 AM
someone mentioned some ways to protect people seeding torrents like i2p. is that integrated into the wallet? Can law enforcement host fake torrents and look for ip's of direct connections like they usually do, or does it require all users protecting themselves via all those methods that typical torrenters use? Most people I know avoid torrents due to that reason - lots of work to stay anonymous and relies on trust in the vpn or invite only system. It says it's anonymous transactions. What about data transfers?
520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] The new web | Roadmap released on: December 07, 2016, 03:23:54 AM
In the past there were some mentions of Shift being focused on becoming THE anonymous dapp platform as differentiating factor. Pardon me if I remember this wrong as I can't find mentions of it here. Is that still the case?
