Where is the Source Code!! Miners dont run strange shit without vetting it let along give it control of their miners!!  Cheesy

So again.. where is there source code!

Hi Zedicus,

I understand where you're coming from but, to be honest, this isn't an open source app. It's something we've put a lot of time and effort into and we don't just want to post all our code for everyone to be able to copy and clone left, right and center.

All the app does is feeds all your miner's stats to our website, and also sends signals FROM the website to your miners to tell them which pool it should be mining, instructions to throttle up or down etc. You can see everything in CGMiner as it happens so you know where it's mining at any point in time.

If you're really worried you could always use some kind of monitoring tool like http://www.charlesproxy.com/documentation/additional/http-monitor/ until you feel confident that the app isn't doing anything shady.

I know security is a big issue these days but this app is really something we feel could be a lot of use to a lot of people - we're in it for the long run so really wouldn't want to do anything dishonest that would jeopardize the future of the site.

I know you understand where im coming from because its almost "etiquette" for this kind of app /service to include git link!!

The reason for that is so that we dont have to take your word that the app does only what its supposed to!

I know security is a big issue these days but this app is really something we feel could be a lot of use to a lot of people

Clearly you dont think security should be at the forefront of a mining operation. Clearly you havent thought it through or maybe you have other reasons for not providing the source code.

Hopefully you are not the IRS gathering emails and mining info and sending it back to their servers or should i say the server that picks who gets audited next!

or Hopefully "you" are not controlling our miner remotely from any device.. a lil "one for me and one for you" bit..

or Hopefully your not ... ( oh wait.. thats right we are supposed to take your word and close our eyes and jump? )  Shocked

You may have misread.  This is not speaking about the whole bitcoin industry, rather just BitPay.

"BitPay has a tenuous relationship with the banks that it works with due to their heavy involvement [heavier than any other company in the entire world] in Bitcoin and fiat.  In order for BitPay to maintain the contracts and relationships that they have developed [ties that got Tony Gallippi in front of the United States Senate Committees during Bitcoin's Capitol Hill debut] BitPay must play nice with banks."

Yeah thats just bitpay but its interesting nonetheless! Thanks for the link..

Hey guys

We've launched a new service called MinePit. It is a client application that allows you to monitor, and remotely control your miners from any web browser, and additionally is a collection of pools that can be mined with or without the software.

We've launched with 9 pools to start with and have chosen POT coin as one of those. Feel free to have a look and jump in with the mining at https://www.minep.it.

Our main thread is here:

Many thanks,
MinePit Team

Not sure I understand what you are saying, zedicus.

Potcoin solves nothing because it is just a substitute for cash and these dispensary operators are all breaking the Federal law.

If Potcoin becomes the solution then Potcoin is being used to launder money.  It's straight forward.

KYC and AML rules and dispensaries are diametrically opposed.

Yep , no way around it.. Federally illegal and all that.

but wait, if whole states are ignoring the federal law .., with more states in route with the same road map.. then it looks like we have a grey area. I think they like the grey area so they can selectively apply the law or you know.. stop all the "money laundering" selectively.
618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: March 21, 2014, 04:15:21 AM
Can somebody tell me what problem potcoin solves?

Why does it even have to solve a problem? They are attempting to solve a problem, but that doesn't mean they will. The bitcoin payment processors are black balling the marijuana industry just like banks. Potcoin wants to solve this issue, the investors know this in advanced. It may happen. I like to use  potcoin as my tipping coin of choice. Its way more fun to smoke someone out with some POT than too toss some doge for btc someone's way.

They have KYC in place and have to do so. The processors turn bitcoin into fiat on the fly. They can't deal with these marijuana places due to federal law. The problem is the government puts it on financial institutions to KYC and be the first line of defense against money laundering. Institutions would rather play it safe than risk the wrath of the federal government.

It's going to be interesting how this plays out, but it definitely leaves a big market for Potcoin. Larger operations won't want to risk messing up a bitcoin account, a smaller operation might risk dealing with Potcoin. Bitcoin processors aren't going to deal with the marijuana industry. So who will? Enter Potcoin. Once everything gets figured out, Potcoin will be huge. This coin came around at the right time to be huge.

A standardized crypto currency for the industry that can alleviate security issues such as large amounts of cash that banks are declining to take because of not only the stance on Marijuana by the federal government but because the cash smells like weed and makes the entire bank smell like weed too!!! Thats what potcoins is for!!

Not so circumvent KYC laws that institutions abide by so that they can remain legal.

If your thinking about it any other way you are in for a rude awakening!

"Due to the relatively young nature of the scrypt mining market we are not currently offering refunds on our scrypt mining products. "

Thats what i got from KNC when i inquired about the Titan.

So Scrypt mining is to young now... Needs a few gray hairs for a refund?
