461  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC-E vs Mt.GOX ... List price .. I don't get it. on: April 07, 2013, 02:12:10 AM
This happens because its a PITA to put money inside BTC-E... Main reason to use BTC-E atm is to trade LTCs with BTCs or visa versa
462  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC and LTC cartoon on: April 07, 2013, 02:10:21 AM
Actually at the moment its more profitable to mine LTCs and simply trade them for BTCs... Smiley
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / [ANN][LTC][Pool][PPLNS] WeMineLTC.com | 0% FEES! | Stratum | DDoS Protection |!! on: April 07, 2013, 01:46:35 AM
We are proud to present a new Litecoin mining pool - WeMineLTC.com

We have been working hard to bring you a powerful, stable and reliable Stratum powered pool and are excited to announce our initial launch!

We focused on top end hardware, our servers feature Xeon CPU's, 64gb RAM, RAID SSD's, Gigabit Connections and most importantly Fully DDoS protected!!

A brief overview of what we offer:

  • NO FEES - Donation Backed, We ask you donate 1 to 2% to help support our equipment costs
  • Stratum Powered - Longpoll is ancient technology that just doesn't suit the power of today, with our system you will get near ZERO stales.
  • PPLNS - Pool-hoping resistant!!
  • Only 20 Confirms - Most Pools wait 120 confirms!
  • FULL DDoS Protection - With the current attacks going on this week, we decided we would delay our launch until we were fully DDoS protected
  • Geolocation Servers - EU and US.
  • Port 80 Stratum Mining
  • Auto Pay Out can be set
  • Already Powerful! Our group already has a massive amount of power so you won't be starting on a dead pool that never finds blocks.

  • SSL

We are here for the long haul people, we have invested massively to bring you power and reliability and we will put it all to work to deliver.  Join today!

Questions?  Post your question in this thread, we will monitor the thread for support questions.WE LOVE FEEDBACK!!

UPDATE : We also added a pool chat!! Come check it out Smiley    http://www.wemineltc.com/userchat

More updates!

5/18/13 - Gtalk Alert On Down Worker, Alternative E-mail For Alerts
In addition to the recently announced ability to be e-mailed of a down worker we have expanded the system to allow you also send alerts to a Gtalk address and gave the ability to set an alternative e-mail for alerts. By default the system will send the e-mail to your account e-mail but we realize some users may want to use a specific email for the alerts so we have added the ability to set a different email for worker alerts. Just head over to the account details page and you can set the gtalk address and alternative e-mail address for alerts there. We also have fixed the issue where some ISP's were blocking password reset emails so if you had trouble in the past with password reset e-mails not reaching you that should be fixed now.

5/16/13 - E-mail Alert On Down Worker, Block Finder Stats
We have made some additions to the pool website including the ability to be alerted by e-mail when your miner goes offline for more than 5 to 10 minutes. You will be emailed when it goes offline and then every hour after that until the miner comes back online or you disable the alert in the worker panel. Also by popular request we added a block finder stats page showing the top 50 block finders in the pool and also shows you which of your workers have found blocks and how many. Lastly the side bar and top site stats will update automatically when on the site or on site irc chat giving you always up to date information. More features coming soon, stay tuned! Help us grow the pool and spread the word about WeMineLTC!

5/14/13 - New DNS Servers, More DDOS Protection, More Servers
We have upgraded our dns infrastructure to be more fault tolerant and attack resistant. We have also added a new DDOS protected server stratum2.wemineltc.com:3333. Further, we now have 2 different ddos protected IPS for the eu server from 2 different ddos providers. If you have issues with eu.wemineltc.com you can use eubackup.wemineltc.com (we recommend setting this as a failover in cgminer if you use the eu server, and the stratum2.wemineltc server as a 2nd backup). We also have a seperate ddos protected link to the site incase the main protected link goes down, you can use http://www2.wemineltc.com (bookmark or note this down). We are working around the clock to constantly upgrade the infrastructure to keep things going strong.

5/10/13 Upgrades Great Success!
We are happy to report the upgrades performed around 24 hours ago have been a great success! The backend stability has increased 10 fold, and efficiency has also improved vastly meaning we can handle more power without slow downs and disconnects. We plan on adding another stratum server soon to help further distribute the load. You may also notice that you are now having invalids showing in your shares history, this is not because you all of a sudden started getting them, it's because we fixed it. Invalids were not being properly recorded on the site before the major upgrade and it was fixed as part of the new code base. Invalids are normal as any work your miner is doing when the block changes is then invalidated and your miner starts on the new work for the new block. They are minor with stratum because your miner is notified of new blocks so fast. In other exciting news the forum will be coming online today! Check back for the details.

5/8/13 8PM GMT UPGRADES COMPLETE!
The upgrades gave us a little bit of a wild ride today, we ran into a few hiccups and a mass influx of traffic at too low of difficulty so it took us a bit to get everything ironed out but things are now looking good. We did a major overhaul of our backend system, and taken massive load off the system. We have also implemented some new features such as the ability to set suggested and max difficulty for your workers. We will release an article about this soon but just know you must disconnect and reconnect after making changes to those settings for them to take affect at the moment. Also IMPORTANT, for the time being worker usernames are case sensitive, it's a small bug and we will fix it next time the server needs to be restarted but for now just make sure if your workername is JohnDoe.1 you enter it with the caps! johndoe.1 will NOT work currently, it must be exact case sensitive. Also, max auto withdraw is now 5LTC, if you have it set below 5LTC it will not pay until you hit 5LTC. These upgrades involve some more features that are in the beta stage. There may be small bugs, let us know if you find anything. Thanks for being patient today, we appreciate it, and it will be worth it in the long run!

5/8/13 8:15AM GMT IMPORTANT! SYSTEM UPGRADE
We are finalizing things to get ready to make the major upgrade we have been preparing for the past few days that we have notified you of a couple of days ago. Things will basically work like this: 1) Website will go into maintenance mode. 2) Mining will continue. 3) When we are ready to do the final switch mining will shut down on both servers for around 15 minutes. 4) Mining will come back up. 5) Site Will Come Back Up. The site may be down for up to 1 hour but mining will only be down for 5-15 minutes, no need to move your miners away or anything. The maintenance message on the site will inform you to where we are at in the upgrade.

5/7/13 - Please temporarily use the EU server
The US server is having some issues we are investigating, please use the EU server for the time being. More news will be posted this evening. The major upgrade is almost complete and testing is almost done and we will be doing the upgrade within the next 24 hours. We will let you know when.

5/6/13 - Payouts Resent
It came to our attention that some payouts last night did not go out as they were supposed to. Long story short, we were trying some new code to try to avoid paying fees and we made a typo and a few payouts went through before we noticed. As of now we have manually resent all the payments that failed and you should have them now. Payout fees are becoming a huge problem for us as we are a no fee pool and we are paying a .1ltc fee on 50% of our payouts, we do up to 50 payouts every 10 blocks, it doesnt take long to realize that we are in the red due to payouts and the fact that we are only getting .5% in donations. From the start we said on our why donate page that we ask for 1%-2% donation to help pay pool operating costs, we again ask you to consider donating, we need your support! We are considering implementing a 1.5% fee to help keep us going and cover the costs of DDOS protection, high end servers, and more things we are bringing your way. We will let you know if we decide to implement this small fee, if you have feedback we would love to hear it, we are opening a forum in the next day or two so stay tuned. Lastly, to help allievate payout fees we are increasing the minimum auto payout threshold to 5LTC. If your payout threshold is below 5LTC you will see it raise to 5LTC shortly. If you need your coin sooner you can process a manual payment which has a .1ltc fee, this is the fee we pay so we make nothing on this, we only pass off the cost of the transaction to you. If litecoin ever reduces their transfer fee from .1ltc to .01ltc as they claim they have been planning then we will look at reducing the limit back to 1ltc for auto payouts. We have tried everything to get rid of the transfer fees with no success, if you have any info that may be of help to us, we would be happy to listen, come find us on IRC.

4/28/13 - Google Authenticator 2-Factor Authentication Now Available!
Here at WeMineLTC.com we take user security and privacy extremely seriously, that is why when a user requested we add Google Authenticator, a 2-Factor Authentication system yesterday we didn't waste any time and set it up straight away. We have heard reports that some users accounts have been compromised at other pools from pools with poor security and we wanted to make sure you guys are protected. If you enable Google Authenticator (One time passwords) on your account from the Account Details page your payout address becomes locked and can not be changed by anyone without your 2nd factor (The Google Authenticator). This is a great free service from Google and we highly recommend all users set it up on their account. One thing to keep in mind is that at this point there is no way to disable the 2 factor authentication once enabled, so be sure you have a google account you can trust and won't forget or lose and be sure you understand the system. If you are unfamiliar with the system you may want to wait until we put up a guide on using the system tomorrow. And as always, thanks for mining with us!

4/25/13 - 8:30AM GMT - VARDIFF fixed, We Were Down 30 Minutes to Make the Fixes
Some users reported VARDIFF was swinging wildly and was causing massive share submissions at lower difficulties for fast miners. This was causing issues for many users so we redid the system and we so far it appears much better. We shut down for about 30 minutes to do all the updates we had planned to get done all week since we had to go down anyways we figured we would do it all at the same time. Everything should be much improved now and the USA server can now be used by proxies, cpu miners and gpu miners. Thanks for your understanding and support! On a side note, pool after lot of requests runs again on a PPLNS payout system!

4/25/13 - 1:00AM GMT - Restart Complete, VARDIFF Changes, Stats Under Maintenance
Our server restart we announced earlier is complete. We have made some changes to VARDIFF and now the pool will start you at 32 and move you up or down based on your mining power. We are also working on tweaking site stats and you may notice your khash and the site khash to swing up and down wildly during this period. Please don't be alarmed. Lastly, CPU Miners will now find much better results on our pool but if you are using a proxy you will want to connect to the eu.wemineltc.com server for the time being. Regular stratum miners are fine. We will let you know when you can point your proxy at the usa server again. The proxy will work but you will notice difficulty changing rapidly.

4/25/13 - 11:16PM - 30 Second Restart Happening in 15 minutes
We have been working non-stop on our backend and have determined that the target difficulty sent to miners is too high. We have adjusted the code to start miners at 32 and work up from there, and they will adjust to a lower difficulty. This will solve issues with shares getting cut off when blocks change and also will let CPU miners back in to the pool. The pool will drop to 16 for CPU Miners if needed, so as long as your CPU miner can handle 16 difficulty you will be able to mine without an issue. The restart should take no longer than 30 seconds.

4/24/13 8:41AM GMT - Block Payout Report Added and Top 15 Now Shows Weighted Shares By Difficulty
First of all just want to let everyone know the problems we had over the first half the weekend have been solved, the pool has been massively upgraded and optimized and we have been rock solid for the past 2 days and expect no more downtime. We apologize for the issues we had over the weekend and thank you for sticking it out with us. We massively recoded our backend and the EU and US servers are stable and running in optimal condition.
We added a payout per block report to the stats and block page so every use can see what was paid out, this allows for total transparency. Check it out! Every user could already see the estimate for other users so this does not expose any new information that wasnt available before (except now it's not an estimate). We also added a new column to the top 15 shares contributor for the round to show the shares weighted by their difficulty. The rank is now based off the weighted shares as well. This takes variable difficulty into account and gives an accurate picture. If you haven't checked out our site chat yet, be sure to stop in and say hi! We have added an awesome bot that announces blocks, has a ticker, and many other features! See you soon! And as always, thanks for mining with us!

4/20/13 1:30PM GMT - VARDIFF Live!
We are happy to announce that VARDIFF has been fixed and is now live on both servers. USA server is also now solid. VARDIFF is 128 to 512 on the eu server and is 30-1000 on the USA server. We are still Beta testing the wide difficulty on the USA server so please don't move your miners there yet unless you have low power. Please keep high power miners on the EU server (if they are already on the USA server that is fine). This allows us to monitor things easier. We have taken steps to get things more stable. We have ordered as Dual Xeon with a total of 24 logical cores, 64GB ECC RAM, 10Gbit Ethernet, Hardware Raid 0 SSD's for our backend server and we will be putting this online soon. We will give you plenty of warning when we will be switching to the new monster server. Incase you are wondering, you are paid based on the difficulty of your shares. Every share is weighted for it's difficulty when it comes to payouts. You should NOT notice a change in your payouts with VARDIFF, it's just more optimized work loads for your particular hardware. To get the most out of VARDIFF we recommend using 1 worker per machine, we highly recommend NOT using more than 1 machine for the same worker. Create 1 Worker Per Mining Machine(client). If you have questions at all stop in our irc chat using the button on the top menu bar. We have a great group of miners in the irc channel, a bot that has some cool features like !stats, !calc (for payout calcs) and it alerts on blocks. Please be courteous to your fellow miners. Any issues with VARDIFF let us know.

4/18/13 - Site Now SSL Protected
You will notice you are being redirected to https://www.wemineltc.com. That is because we installed an SSL certificate as requested and now data transfered to/from the site is encrypted with SSL. This will protect your login credentials when using Open Wifi, etc. We are working hard to meet all the requests we get, please be patient we are trying to get around to them all if we can! Also we changed the site chat to a new irc based webchat, stop in and let us know what you think!

4/18/13 - US server being replaced/upgraded
The US server has had some up and down issues so we have decided to replace it (it has a hardware issue) and upgrade it at the same time. We expect it to be replaced within the next few hours if all goes well. We are also in the process of making hardware upgrades on our backend to ensure we can cope with more users as they join. A CPU mining server with lower difficulty will be online sometimes within the next day or so. Lot's of new upgrades to the site are coming too, stay tuned Smiley

4/16/13 - User Stats Added
Some users were requesting stats and graphs on their hashrate over time so they can tweak them, monitor them, etc. We have put this online just click above on the Menu and select User Stats. You can zoom in and everything, it's pretty cool. Check it out. We also had requests for emailing the user if the miner goes down, we are working on adding this and hope to have it up soon.

4/16/13 - Site Chat Added
Some users were asking for a site chat so they can talk to other users and so new users can get assistance in getting their rigs mining. Please be courteous and do not abuse the chat system. We hope you all enjoy it!

4/15/13 9:48PM EST - Stratum Proxy shutdown
We were having too many issues with the beta Stratum proxy on the US server. We decided to shut it down and go back to the old way of having you run the proxy on your pc. We have custom stratum proxy exe's and linux repo for our pool in the Getting Started section. All you need to do is run the proxy and it will connect to our pool.
4/15/13 - 9:25PM EST - Round Estimate Issue - FIXED

You have to have the funds in your account.
thanks

Just read MtGox has 5500 new accounts waiting to be verified.

wait do I need to be verified just to buy 1 btc?

No. But if you want to buy just one BitCoin i suggest look around your area at localbitcoins.com !
468  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do coins get lost? on: March 25, 2013, 06:41:37 PM
I had lost a wallet.dat file, I formatted the wrong drive.

I ran a tool to search the block device for a string I knew would be in the wallet.dat. I was able to recover the keys several months after my mistake.

How many coins you had in the wallet? Tongue
469  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: btc-e vs mtgox on: March 25, 2013, 06:40:47 PM
LiqPay is the easiest if you can get it working. I love it.

How you managed to get it working? I had luck only with Interkassa (but they take 5%)

Quote
Around 0.22~0.28 BTC per day, per card

6.6 BTC pm on one 7970? I doubt it.

More like 0.06 BTC per day, per card.

Did you not measure it since reward halving and difficulty went up?

Correct. With new diffuculty its around 0.01 BTC/day. My mistake
471  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do coins get lost? on: March 24, 2013, 10:10:19 PM
Coins become lost when the private keys to them aren't stored anywhere, and nobody is holding them.  So though the coins never really disappear, they can't be moved anywhere, because no one has the private keys required to move them.

Can't the private keys be cracked the same way they are discovering new coins?

473  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining vs BitVisitor - why bother mining? on: March 24, 2013, 09:56:48 PM
I mine with 2 nVidia GPUs, I am in it for the long run - I expect "final" price at about 50 000 USD per BTC. So I don't care if I am not profitable right away, I can wait for it. Bitcoins are my pension fund :-) Btw I started mining in june 2011, till now I have 12,5 BTC

If you were mining since june 2011 with ATI cards you should have your pension today Tongue
474  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce yourself :) on: March 24, 2013, 09:41:21 PM
Hello all-- I have been bit-mining for 22 months and have spent much time on this site, but have never registered because of the nuisance.  Also a  Angry for whomever got the username "Bitter" before I could.

What finally got me to register is to warn people about giving too much control of the network to Avalon.

out of interest can you give a rough number of how many coins you accumulated in that time?
Just so I can beat my self up about it...I heard about BTC back then but never pursued it, as a computer gaming nerd I have had the perfect system for it for a long time.

*sigh* i still recall days where you could buy one BTC for smth more than 0.06$...
475  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: btc-e vs mtgox on: March 24, 2013, 08:08:56 PM
I make money doing arbitrage all the time like this, but I can get USD into BTC-e easy!

And whats the easiest way to add USD funds to btc-e ?

Easiest way is to live in ukraine and/or Russia. You can deposit via their ATMs straight to e-btc.com and the account gets credited instantly. Mond though that there is a 5% fee on all deposits(on atm) plus they will rape you on the currency exchange!(since you will want to deposit in dollars but the ATMs give Grivnas(ukrainian money) and then you have to re-convert into $$$)

Good luck Tongue

My rig with 31 7970s produces roughly around 3 BTC per day... Around 0.22~0.28 BTC per day, per card (depends on pools luck as well, i use Slush)
