I'm perplexed you wouldn't offer it ONLY with airtites - these are silver. If they are touched they are pointless. Pointless?? Not sure about that. Also, maybe I am being stupid here but I don't want to disappoint. When you say airtites is that a specific brand or do you just mean plastic cases? I use plastic capsules for my other coins it's just that i have not found one so far that fits the 1oz Silvers nicely. Mike has said he will post some with the order. Gold plating added to the remaining 700 or so 1oz coins! It turned out really well, even better than on the 2012's. All future orders will be fulfilled with gold plated stock. Shopping cart added to indicate the change. 1oz coins w/o gold plating are no longer available, however, the 0.5 and 0.1BTC coins are bare silver with no gold plating. We might want to see if we can reserve some just in case, I guess he minted about 1000/2000??? Down to 700 Also is it just me or has the price dropped on his website? https://www.casascius.comSwear it used to be BTC35 now down to BTC30? Price has dropped because BTC has gone up. Pretty good news.

i haven't ordered yet as i was going to give the 0.1 group buy the chance to catch up. I suppose we need a deadline really. Lets say if the 0.1 hasn't been filled by 7 days from now we will go ahead with the order of this one on it's own. So i will order on the 1st November if that's cool with everyone. And yes, if you are happy covering costs airtites will be included.

Is there a deadline for offers? Are you going to auction?
No deadline yet, I'm just looking for reasonable offers. Dozerz's BTC2.5 offer was pretty low ball, I expect to get quite a bit more than that. bitcoin prices have doubled since one of these was sold on the forums, im interested to know your reserve? I was hoping to get around BTC6 or so. With these becoming increasingly more rare, I don't think that's unreasonable, even at the current price. Not sure about them becoming increasingly rare as i don't think many of them are being redeemed. It is an interesting question though. If someone pays 5BTC for a 1BTC coin when BTC is £50 they have overpaid by £200 If price goes to £500 per BTC can you still expect 5BTC? ...they are still getting redeemed. What I think happens is, as the value of Bitcoin goes up, the larger denominations need to be 'broken up'. About 6 months ago, these were the approximate quantity counts of each of the holo error varieties: 100 BTC holo error 22 25 BTC holo error 227 5 BTC holo error 625 1 BTC holo error 3615 Today, the counts are approximately: 100 BTC holo error 18 (decrease of 4, or 18%) 25 BTC holo error 216 (decrease of 11, or 5%) 5 BTC holo error 595 (decrease of 30, or 5%) 1 BTC holo error 3615 (unchanged, though this makes me question my 1 BTC count) This is pretty interesting, where did you get the info from?

Economy / Speculation / Gox pulling away??

Any ideas why Mt. Gox would be pulling away from the others today? GBP up to £133 and $ is £213. BTCChina and Bitstamp seem to be just ranging?

Economy / Goods / Older Casascius coins

on: October 23, 2013, 12:06:46 PM

I am interested in what people think some of the older casascius coins are now worth. I have not seen many 25's on the market for a while and no series 1 5's for a long time. Also, somebody mentioned a double error series 1 1BTC. If anyone has pictures i would love to see it. Another rarity is the 0.5 Silver with the Series 2 hologram, apparently there were only 30 or so of these. I think there were 1BTC Silvers with these too but quite a few more made. Anyway, just interested to see what people would consider some of these to be worth now. PS If anyone has a gold plated 10 or a series 1 25 then PM me

I think you're nuts But I wish you every success in your latest venture. I'll take one off you if you can deliver to UK (I want it warm when it arrives though!) I was reading down the thread and this was pretty much exactly what i was going to say.

Economy / Speculation / Re: The boat is long gone

no guts, no glory.
to make huge returns, you have to take huge risks. how could something be risky of the idea is already widespread? that's like saying show me a square with only 3 sides...
EXACTLY IT IS WIDESPREAD NOW ANSWER THIS QUESTION: Tell me an investment past or present(not a stock) that costs $200 or less that anyone could buy that made that person a millionaire. The only caveat is that the investment had/has to be a fully disseminated idea that the world knows/knew about. So in other words the person got in AFTER THE FACT and made millions off of a $200 investment. I find the fact that because somebody can not tell you an unrelated investment opportunity to return 5000x you take that as proof that what you are saying is right very strange indeed. SEEING NO ONE CAN GIVE ME AN EXAMPLE SHOWS THAT ITS A PIPE DREAM. ITS NOT STRANGE BECAUSE EVERYONE ON HERE HAS THE BELIEF THAT A $200 BITCOIN IS GOING TO $10000. SO SHOW ME AN EXAMPLE OF THIS IN THE PAST WHERE ORDINARY PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD GOT RICH BY INVESTING IN AN IDEA THAT THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT. Bitcoin went from $1 to $200. Thousands of people knew about Bitcoin when it was $1. There were even mainstream newstories by then. By your "logic" the rise from $1 to $200 should be impossible. The fact that the prior history of Bitcoin disproves your very claim doesn't it at least seem possible that the future unwritten history of Bitcoin will do the same? YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD. THE RISE FROM $1 TO $200 WAS THE BOAT COMING IN. IT IS GONE NOW Yawn
