Thanks. As you can understand, tensions are high right now. I don't know why you're travelling so much but that's your personal issue I guess. What I can tell you is that the time is now to get this underway before NoirShares becomes a distant memory and no chance of re-launching a new chain. We're way overdue of recouping the investor following that has been here to this point. There are hundreds of people with coins stuck in the snapshot. They are losing interest at an alarming rate day-by-day. So please do it the moment you have a chance. We're at the fork in the road where NRS either lives or becomes permanent dust. Too many other altcoin solutions are grabbing attention and making waves on a daily basis. We have to realize that we no longer have time to spare. We also need to address the GF fund investors after the NRS 2.0 chain is alive and well as you well know. This is completely fixable, with enough effort and energy by people willing to help. I usually keep my personal affairs just that , however, for those who do know, I have been on assignment for a year now and had returned home for a much needed visit as well as to fight reassignment into a war zone. That's completed so I'm going back now, the travel was unavoidable. I never stopped working and share you pov, we are late, very. Even now I'm coding on my tablet just to push things through. I probably will upload two versions of the code by end of day. One has PoS and the other does not. Whichever is most stable will become the active one. |

Not much response, most have never modified the places I have so I'm trying an alternative that seems to cover that situation. Coding on a laptop is not fun.
Can you upload the current source to mega download or something (instead of git) in a zip, with a comment of where it is broken in a readme.txt and let us have a crack at it? I'd like to run it on some test nodes and fill the debug.log with verbose commenting and see if I can spot where the problem lies and possibly write a routine to fix it. The reason I'm asking you to do this in public is two fold: a) It lays legitimacy to the situation and allows everyone in here the same opportunity b) We might get more people trying to fix it I'll do so in an airport if I can, meantime I am working on trying a CCoinsview implementation. GF members (the majority), have remained calm and some have expressed their concerns privately. Most of whom were happy to go over the numbers I provided. A lot of dissatisfaction was expressed over the speed of development and I communicated the difficulty of being a sole dev who does his own debugging. (Basically it's like trying to mark your own homework)
Can you please let us know how those numbers were provided to the GF holders? Because if they were emailed, I did not get them. BTW, I would be happy if some of the majority of those GF members would also express their satisfaction here, because if I was not speaking for them, then they could go against me and give you more support, isn't it? Note that people have said several times they want to help you test the code. Do something with that.What caused the delay in all this? Because it is obvious you promised to have something ready last Friday, and now you are saying that you will not be able to work on it for another 3 days? Regarding the BOLD comment (by me)... wanting does not help. Debugging and pointing parts of the code with some reasoning do! Also saying just, "it doesn't work or it's not good enough..." - it's for the ones that don't know what to do with their money, and those, I am sorry.. can wait. =) People sometimes loose more time fighting against a cause that could just be won by implementing alternative technologies and prove they are better and worth of their words. Main property of evolution is not fighting... it's sharing! I am able to help with debugging if I get more than 3 days to test. And be sure I can give constructive information. But like a developer needs time to develop, a debugger needs to have time to test. Last time the code of the alpha release was put on github around 24 hours before release of the Windows client, and the github source was even not up to date (was obviously different from the windows client). Nothing was working like it should. I think at that time I have mentioned that the reason why Lotto was not working was because there was no reference to it in the code. I did not go into much detail there, because I was almost sure Barwizi knew that it was not working yet and why. It was there in the GUI, but let me put it like this, I can make wonderful GUIs which seem to have lots of functions in it, but if there is nothing behind it it won't work. It is like selling a Tesla without engine, if you turn the key it won't start. I never got the chance to test Lotto when the blockchain was reset, because transactions failed and it got stuck very soon in the blockchain. The strange thing is that the blockchain seemed to have worked somehow till then. I stopped looking over the code until Barwizi is ready with this problem. I am very curious to which developers he has asked for help, and if there is a bounty planned for them. Your previous statements seem to imply you see me as your employee , seeing how you wish to dictate my time useage. Quite plainly , you are bullshitting because any dev/debugger would have understood the problem from my description and if you had a solution you would have stated it. You need to back off and let me work. You have said nothing constructive short of pissing me off and making assumptions and taking liberties. If you knew half of what needs to b done you would have done it yourself. So thanks but no thanks, I do not need or require an armchair general or a clueless commentator. Find something to do with your time and check back in a few days. |

I don't understand what's going on.
The new NRS 2.0 wallet has one last bug before being released, it's one complex line of code that is difficult for Barwizi to figure out on his own. So he called in help from other coin developers to ask them their opinion on how to fix it. This is causing a bigger delay because he is waiting on other people. Hopefully Barwizi will mention if he has heard back from anyone yet, or if he is still stuck. Not much response, most have never modified the places I have so I'm trying an alternative that seems to cover that situation. Coding on a laptop is not fun. |

Hello all
Thanks for the patience, I'll be returning to work in three days so that means I'll be able to do cryptos again. There is one stupid line of code holding everything up. I have asked fellow developers for a way around, we'll see what they come up with. GF members (the majority), have remained calm and some have expressed their concerns privately. All that remains in NRS is that the mempool does not contain the genesis transactions, as a result, the fetchinputs function fails when you try to transact using a genesis input. ONE LINE , but as you know transactions are basic for the protocol, so instead of a rough hack, I am seeking serious viable assistance to not "screw the pooch", as that may result in loopholes/exploits or loss of money for users.

When you release it, I recommend commenting out smsg, voting, etc.
Right now we just need a stable merged chain that is mineable and can do basic transactions.
Oh, and a block explorer that lets us check blocks and transactions.
That's all.
This way if new features cause a problem, you can checkpoint back if necessary and have people revert to the previous client (as much as I hate to think of that happening).
Most of all, we'll have a block explorer to verify if our nodes are current, etc. Launching a new chain with no block explorer is pretty weird and confusing.
Well I agree about voting and talk, but hope that lotto will be implemented soon, as the GF holders are waiting for that feature to be implemented. BTW I have been keeping silent about the questions I am having about the mining operation and the money that still needs to be accounted for for the GF holders (there are still 23 bitcoins unaccounted for, and I guess the mining operation is still making money, so it is getting more), but only because I wanted to give Barwizi time to solve the problems with the blockchain. The question about the accounting Barwizi has to do for at least 23 bitcoins is still standing and should also be answered asap. I have had to make a few modifications whose implications i am trying to test out, i have soomeone who helps but their free time is limited. You want an in-wallet block finder? I can work that in, but that's probably on Thursday, with wallets available friday (unless i get a day off) Current status

I processed and sorted the list, removing several duplicates and resolving some apparent ambiguities. If further additions could be appended to the list in the first post, that would help me keep this post up to date. For convenience, I've added hyperlinks from the coin name to either a bcttalk thread or a cctalk thread. I've also created a hyperlink from the trading symbol to the corresponding (public, unique) DOACC entry (in order to keep the posting size inside the limit, the DOACC link is frustratingly but necessarily mediated via a more concise Minkiz db id). “No row was found for one() ['Ncoin', 'NX']” <- this one defeated me, any hints? I will post on 1 September a list of coins and update everyday, it will be available in the OP. 1st October ? This is a large project and a lot of developers and resources would be needed to get it off the ground. Why ? Because the only really viable way forward is to burn dormant altcoins to get the new coin. The new coin would need to be very attractive to do that, and therefore would need serious backers. However, I can forsee serious rewards for success. The 1% premine would be a mistake, because it would send the wrong message and poison the whole project. With respect, I don't think it's viable without a big team and resources, but it's a great idea. Thanks for the correction and i do agree with your points, completely. However the one thing devs seem to all agree to on this forum, is a policy of non-cooperation. The few that did or tried to, ended up with a much larger mess. I wont set lofty goals for this project as my skills have a limit, just like my free time. I can do the following 1) Create a sane blockchain 2) Map all balances at appropriate rates 3) Implement a few changes (maybe 2 or all three previously mentioned) As for the 1 % premine, as you said, this is a huge project....what then is my incentive to put in all that work? Burning is a great idea to peg/force a value, however, not many people would participate short of the devs stating that the mapping is effectively a chainswap and the old chain is now invalid (fat chance) Secondly, that option limits the coins that can be used since some of ones with active users are far from dormant. Also keep in mind that a lot of people simply are unwilling to part with their coins as they find it hard to swallow that their coins are dying. They'll resist hoping for a miracle...lol. Also this will mean only burned coins from that blockchain will count. But in order to make things interesting and provide what little incentive i can guarantee, i will make a proposal. Note, this proposal can be made a necessity for certain coins as i am getting complaints about some of their backgrounds. I invite devs and or communities of dormant/dying coins to burn their coins and accept this as an effective chainswap.
The most immediate advantage to doing so is that the coins price snapshot will be doubled, effectively giving you more for your coins than you would get by sticking to the dead/dying chain. This offers a way out for the community and for the dev if he/she is failing to maintain or innovate for the chain. Should the community or dev approach me here publicly, that would be most ideal. |

Additionally, the snapshot period has been increased from a few hours to the whole day on the 15th. Some of the coins have some serious problems and i am not sure if the developers are aware, i left my server running daemons for three days onbly to find that some of them had not synced, stuck at some block or the other. the issue most prevalent in the quick investigation i did was HUGE forking issues some coins had as many as 4 forks and syncing was impossible as it would keep jumping between chains.
If there are coins i cannot sync automatically, i will not waste time, i will simply make a community request for a copy of the blockchain. As i am working on this alone, please be patient if i dont respond immediately to coin requests..

 I think the whole balances issue has been exhausted. Your security concerns have all been addressed even by people not related to this project. You keep repeating the same thing that has at least 3 or 4 answers not even by me, even from a proven project that used the same method. Your arguments are flawed in that they are based in hypotheticals and what ifs. If you have genuine concern , you are free to peruse the OPEN source code at will in a few days. I deleted URSAY's post by mistake, but this will be my position from now on, seeing as you are free to partake or to not. the repeated posting of questions already answered just clutters the thread. However if you have a genuine security concern that has not been addressed yet then i am all ears.
