171 btc sell wall on stamp at $8741....

uups ... gone...

edit: watching charts since 2013. it was pretty much all mtgox by then. i can only tell you that karpeles did a better job hiding the "manipulation" than all the exchanges today combined.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

of course i am whining "manipulation" only when price goes down. if it shots up, it is clearly always organic demand.

China's Industrial Information and Development Center presented the updated Cryptocurrency Rating. EOS is still in first place, while Bitcoin is in eleventh place. From the interesting: Throne took the second line from Ethereum, but Ripple moved from the thirtieth to the twentieth place.

Nothing at all is interesting in that rating. Roll Eyes

to me its existence is interesting. and the motives. considering the tech, bitcoin should be the only entry on the list. weird.

TRUST is such a big issue for china, since there is this culture of cheating

Careful, I frequently get accused of racism when I point out their divergent cultural mores around truth telling.

guilty. hard to discuss without overgeneralizing.

4  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 29, 2019, 10:32:17 AM
the only explanation i have ( and i am no expert in this field) is that TRUST is such a big issue for china, since there is this culture of cheating and now they hope that "blockchain" will somehow make it easier for them to trust companies (for example).

The prime reason is of course to increase their control and oppression. They've now announced there will be a governmentcoin.

But the trust thing is something that doesn't cross the average Westerner's mind but does sound like a pretty desperate issue there. You'd think with all this unity under the calm guidance of Winnie the Pooh they'd stop being so fucking bent but clearly not.

However no one's been able to adequately explain to me how you enforce and maintain the link between something's tokenisation/blockchain entry and keeping it irrevocably tied to the physical product until it ends up in front of you or inside you.

as i understand it, cheating has not the same level of moral/social disaffirmation as in western culture. it is more viewed as a sport. (not saying they are all liars, not at all saying western culture is superior.)

i highlighted your last sentence since it seems to be the crux of all this "blockchain" bullshit. bitcoin (the token) is native to its blockchain. a physical object like a car or a diamond or clean milk/food whatever can never be native to a software database. how do you know somebody in the supply chain isn´t cheating anyway?

Oh look, a self serving best of list from China...
https://cointelegraph.com/news/eos-holds-top-spot-bitcoin-11th-in-chinas-latest-crypto-rankings
Quote
China’s President Xi Jinping called for the accelerated national adoption of blockchain technology in an official speech.

President Xi’s intervention and positive signs from the People’s Bank of China have this week sparked a major uptick in the domestic blockchain sector — spurring the stock markets and fervent interest among the public.

https://beincrypto.com/china-calling-blockchain-a-scam-is-now-banned/

Now they are banning articles calling blockchain a scam, I love this change except for the fact that they are going to have their own crypto

i can see why the "blockchain-not-bitcoin" idiots went wrong. there is only one blockchain that has a valid use case and that is an invention: bitcoin.

to see an entire high-tech nation, and not a marginal one, to fall for this stupidity is hard to believe. the only explanation i have ( and i am no expert in this field) is that TRUST is such a big issue for china, since there is this culture of cheating and now they hope that "blockchain" will somehow make it easier for them to trust companies (for example).

i dont see "blockchain" working. it is out for a decade now, where are the applications? other than money/bitcoin?

if they really go all-in to "blockchain" with their entire economy it will end as a catastrophic failure like the Great Leap Forward.

Just had a lovely walk and found these little buggers

Nice Grin

Morning WO's, up another couple hundred from last night.

I'm curious how you intend to prepare these? There's only a few things I've been too afraid to try, Fly ammonita, pantera's, and tree datura are the ones which still torment my curiosity.
Please let us know how it goes.

A. muscaria and A. pantherina are similar. Pantherina is allegedly stronger. Both contain basically the same actives. By decarboxylating the acid into muscimol, a manageable entheogen can be obtained. Decarboxylation can be carried out by drying in open air or in a low heat oven (think merengue). The intoxication is totally unlike psylocibin, more like a drunken trance often accompanied by nausea or other discomfort. Doable with some care. If you give the mushroom a few quick boils, always discarding the water, you are left with a harmless edible mushroom. I have no idea how tasty it is, but if we're talking food, I'd choose A. caesarea any day - and cook it very lightly (sauteed in butter). Or eat it raw, as in a salad ;-)

On the other hand, daturas are downright nasty. Tree datura - you mean brugmansia? - is one of the quirkiest and least predictable. I see little recreational value in nightshades and relatives. They really are best left alone.

right. i recommend magic mushrooms and lsd if you want to trip, pick a sunny day (preferably on a day where you do not have any job or social obligations next day) and a very good friend and bike or hike through nature. leave mobile at home. if you want to play safe have 5 mg diazepam as a parachute with you just in case the trip is turning bad.

datura is dangerous. i have seen consumers that went straight to hospital for severe mental problems that lasted several weeks.

Thanks to Bitcoin I have been investigating some retirement options.  Not yet, but for the next bull.

Now my ad feed is full of hearing aid ads.

Nice

considering what everyone was doing throughout the weekends since the 90ies (club, party, loud music) and also considering the endemic spread of headphones in the last decades i think investing in hearing aid companies is a fairly safe bet. they will not run out of demand in the future. hearing aid will as so common as mobile phones. hell, it wont be long until apple is building one i guess.

Clowns, there will be no ATH, indeed this is the last time we see BTC under 10K, because it will never be above 10K ever again.

yep, btc is dead. the doom trolls were always right. they said

"never above $10 ever again"

"never above $100 ever again"

"never above $1000 ever again"

and i am pretty sure the salty fuckers will do it again when it goes below $100 000 in a few years from now.

this the 2nd wave down. probably one more.

hodl.

The UK government is auctioning some crypto they nicked off someone who nicked it.

If you wish to pay £99 for 0.1 BSV instead of £68 for a whole one, and who doesn't? this could be your only chance this year.

uk gov a shitcoin pusher? lmao....  Cheesy

currently fighting at the 50% fibo level. should not go below 72xx (61.8% fibo) otherwise we have a seroius issue.

As expected, this is the reaction to the premature parabolic high. I never liked that one.

Critical to test support now.

There may be a bigger problem, signalled by the collapse in hash rate, but that remains to be seen.

there is no collapse of hashrate. it was just a dip.  Wink

hashrate is currently around 90,000,000 TH/s (https://www.blockchain.com/de/charts/hash-rate?timespan=30days

daily 200MA will be respected. on july 15 2017 it closed below. on july 16 2017 it opened and closed below. on july 17 2017 it opened below the 200MA (stamp)

200MA sits at $8270

not concerned at all.

oh, there is also good news:

BCH -26%  Cheesy
BSV -33%  Cheesy

btc dominance on its way back to 70%.   alt-season, lol.

Bitcoin Network Hash Rate Mysteriously Flash Crashes by 40%

Quote
Bitcoin’s (BTC) network hash rate dipped a record 40% yesterday, Sept. 23, in a sudden shock for the network.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-network-hash-rate-mysteriously-flash-crashes-by-40

Someone does not pay the electricity bill.

40%? Maybe at blockchain.com
Else it's merely ~13% (95.55E>82.98E) - or somewhere in between.

[img height=100]https://i.imgur.com/vTMpWFJ.pn/img]

~ yawn
It is simply slowly growing back.
But according to coin dance it fell to 57 EH/s yesterday
https://coin.dance/blocks/hashrate/linear

i wonder if there is any other network, supercomputer, whatever, that can lose 57 EH/s in one day without crashing/downtime/doom  Cheesy

well, i got to admit that i expected some more buys during the launch of bakkt. this is pathetic.

on the other hand: it is an open gate now, easy to use for institutional investors, regulated, safe, etc.

we will only see its impact during the next big monster super duper hulk OMG holy handgrenade holy fuck super mega run-up of bitcoin price. this run-up will come, no doubt whatsoever. and it will leave us shell shocked and speechless by its steepness and size, it always does. those so far almost mythical institutional bitcoin investors will get sucked in by the FOMO. after all, they are human beings. keep in mind those suckers paid a 100% premium with grayscale on the top of the last FOMO candle in dec. 2017. yes, some paid $40k per bitcoin on that day.

they´ll salivate, we´ll hold

only then bakkt can show us if it is worth anything. patience, fellow WO´s, patience....

It is my earnest hope that the reemergence of sound money will cause corporations to finally look beyond next quarter's numbers.

bitcoin can and will change a lot of things. i doubt greed is one of those things. personally i am not the greedy kind of guy regarding fiat. but boy, when it comes to bitcoin i experienced me being greedy to an extent it started to make me wonder.

boeing got caught in the same trap as the german car industry: too big, too powerful, lobbyists too successful, decade after decade... that is one of the reasons why start ups sometimes are able to beat the behemoths. and yes my friends, that is also a part of the reasons why we will win the race for sound money. btc price in the vicinity of 10k per btc is actually a sign we are winning already.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 23, 2019, 07:36:38 AM
Bakkt volume is now 18 BTC. We seem to be sort of dumping right now; currently observing ~$9850.

Testing support. Again.
This will be an interesting week, i guess...

Can someone educate me please. What is this Bakkt? A trading platform or sort ?

you will find all relevant info here:

https://fortune.com/2019/09/20/bitcoin-futures-bakkt-launch/

for example:

Quote
The venture behind this effort to wed tradition and disruption, to bring blue-chip asset managers off the sidelines to embrace crypto-currencies, is Bakkt, so-called because it's "backed" by majority owner Intercontinental Exchange. ICE is the $52 billion-market-cap trading colossus that owns the NYSE; NYSE Arca, the world's largest platform for ETFs; ICE Futures U.S., one of the world's dominant players in agricultural commodities; and ICE Futures Europe, home of the Brent crude contract that's the leading benchmark for world oil prices. Bakkt is the brainchild of ICE's founder and CEO, Jeff Sprecher, long the leading figure in the transformation of major exchanges from open-outcry venues dominated by rowdy floor brokers to today's electronic marketplaces.
