Dead and useless now.
Cheesy
Define dead.   there is a website called deadcoins, it´s not on there.

But hey, it's a free world, for now.   cast your aspersions and feel good about yourself.

Auroracoin needs to think of a DeFi angle for Icelanders!

Also, maybe it is time to think about moving to become a token on Ethereum, Solana or Polkadot.

what's wrong with being mineable?

I agree with Adam here, becoming just another token will end any true value this coin might have. Auroracoin is still one of the most stable and authentic blockchains around. And although you might think otherwise, the wallets are still being maintained.

I agree with Mikael that new enthusiasm and energy is badly needed in the team. I'm back after a long needed sabbatical from crypto and happy to work with anyone who wants to contribute to this magnificent coin.

Right now we need to spend a little time looking at the Electrum servers.  they have not been providing data for the past few days.   I am also working on getting our ElectrumX development started.   As soon as we have it up we will be added to Primecoin's new Gemmer multicoin wallet (from Sunny King), and the collaboration going on with his developers and the half dozen teams on EWMCI is just getting stronger.

We will be trading on Unnamed.Exchange (btc/ltc) within a week or so.

Come over to Discord and join the conversations.    It will also help motivate me to spend some time structuring the channels, building content, and encourage community efforts.

Thank you for supporting auroracoin. you can sell your coins on zapple.com

Please be advised that Zapple exchange will be closing on December 31, 2020.

I've received the relevant e-mail message on October 13.

Here's the mail contents:
"We are sorry to inform you that Zapple is closing down operations.  We had been due to launch a novel banking product this year but the impacts of Covid-19 and a changing marketplace meant it was not possible to launch in our original timescales.  With upcoming regulatory changes in the UK and a product not ready for launch we have made the difficult decision to cease operations.  We are currently looking for someone to buy Zapple’s intellectual property and, potentially, to serve our existing customers.

Unless a buyer is found for Zapple before the end of the year then Zapple will be closing from 31st December 2020.  From 1st January 2021 until 31st January 2021 the site will operate in a withdrawal-only mode.  During this phase trades and deposits will be forbidden.  From 1st February 2021 Zapple will be offline completely so it is imperative that you withdraw your assets by this point as they will no lost if not withdrawn at this point.

We are working with partners to support their customers and currencies during this time.  If alternative offerings become available we will notify you before the end of the year."

I've checked only today zapple exchange since I traded AUR/BTC, AUR/BCH for about 6 months ago and withdrew all the funds.
And yes, the relevant message about closure is posted on the home page of the exchange.

They try to find a solution to keep the exchange online. Hopefully they will succeed!
there are talks underway to hand zapple over to new owners

It's more accurate to say that there are ongoing discussions with the Zapple team and prospective investors / buyers / leasers  interested in keeping the platform running.

But as far as I know there have not been any final decisions or new owners at this time.

That being said, we (Auroracoin) are currently looking at a couple of international btc exchanges for trading auroracoin.

( Any favorites ?  suggestions ?  )

COINOMI will de-list auroracoin in a few days... Undecided

Aaah,   i see... in the app.

I am looking into this.

mikael hannes

Yes, as it turns out Coinomi will delist Auroracoin as early as September 28 2020.

They have asked for 2 btc listing fee to keep us on Coinomi, however there are some other coins that are being delisted that paid even more than that just a couple years ago and are also being delisted, so there is no guarantee that Coinomi will not choose to delist us again in the future.

That being said, the passphrase used in Coinomi can also be used in the Android version of our wallet to recover your keys.

At any rate, as long as you have your passphrase your auroracoins are safe and can always be recovered.

Auroracoin needs to think of a DeFi angle for Icelanders!

Also, maybe it is time to think about moving to become a token on Ethereum, Solana or Polkadot.

You read my mind from a few moments ago in regards to DeFi, though I don't have any specific thoughts on that.

Regarding Ethereum, Solana or Polkadot...   Do you mean an Ethereum "wrapper" ?   We could also think about Waves and Stellar for that matter.

Ideally we could also think about how to get a payment card available...  Icelanders are very used to using a card or phone to tap and pay.

I would also like to think about restructuring the team a bit and get more active people involved.

It looks like Coinomi will delist AUR as they are asking for 2 BTC to keep us on their product.

However it is not the most friendly for merchant situations and does not provide any benefit over other wallets at this time ( besides being available on multiple platforms )

------------

On another note, I am looking into getting us onto Unnamed.Exchange as they cost .05btc to list, have USDT,Waves,XMR trading pairs, and would get us back on CoinGecko and CryptoCompare with trading prices.

I have gotten us back on CryptoID which provides some nice data such as Rich Lists, Daily Overview, API (coins in circulation).

Also CoinPaprika has all the active trading pairs and therefore most accurate pricing.  I am in process of getting the coins in circulation numbers correct and an updated Description.

------------

And I really need to start a newsletter or something and update the English version of the site.

it looks like 21 million will be mined before the next halving. any thoughts

Hmmm...  I will look into it.   Can I ask how you made this observation ?

mikael hannes
the daily block reward is 1800 coins
(21,000,000−18,633,011)÷1,800
÷365= 3.6 years

Based on my understanding the next halving, from 1.25 to .625 AUR per block, will be at block height 4,200,000.
At that point there should be approximately 20,693,099 coins minted, in approximately 2.5 years, around Dec 2022.

So, Zapple is a dead market and Yobit keeps wallet in maintenance waiting for a wallet update... excellent! Huh

No, Zapple is not a dead market.  AUR is trading against BTC, BCH, and BSTY - and you can withdraw and deposit AUR as in any other exchange.

Zapple is not high volume trading, but for hodlers and enthusiasts building their bags or spending on something, it is ample for now.

Yobit is not waiting for a wallet update, they just have not fixed their wallet.  ISX, Zapple, and NLexch all work fine with the wallet.

CoinMarketCap added a warning today about Yobit impeding withdrawls on the Auroracoin page.

AND CoinGecko has now followed suit.

so...
run the page, generate, print
remove HDD and with printer throw it in to Mount Doom right?

only last thing i need to know is it safe enough to be sure there is not correlation between wallet address and private key?

There is no visible correlation between wallet address and private key.   Do not share your private key with anyone, only share the wallet address, or public key.
