OpenCL error - cannot allocate big buffer for DAG. Check readme.txt for possible solutions. GPU 0, OpenCL error -38 - cannot write buffer for DAG
6970 2gb
with the above setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0 setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

For AMD cards, set the following environment variables, especially if you have 2GB cards:
GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0 GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100 GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
WHERE DO I WRITE THESE?

maybe with more gpus than one result is better. i only have one. so half of my total watt is wasted on the pc
It's not wasted , your memory and memory controller using it . Set the memory voltage to 950 , 925 , 900 , 880 with wattman. Find the stable settings where your not loosing from the hashing speed, and you can save a lot of extra watts . I am talking about cpu - ram - motherboard watt. with only 1 gpu, half of the total watt are consumed on all the other components of the pc. I am here right now with another rom and i am quite happy. dont think it can get much lower https://s11.postimg.org/bhtatjpyb/2016_09_15_025508.jpg

Don't get confused with that reading with gpuz. As it says that number is "GPU only power draw" it's not the whole vga card ! Your card have another power hungry parts too :-) There is the memory controller and the memory itself :-) and a few more parts . GpuZ not measuring you graphic card power usage , only how much watts your gpu using !!! The 2 things are not the same !!!
you have read my post and you found me confused? i am trying to explain using my measurements how the gpu-z number can be used to find actual power draw of the whole card. of course these are totaly different numbers and try reading again if you are confused. I am saying nowhere that these are the same numbers. the exapt opposite. in fact in my system the whole card draws DOUBLE THAN WHAT THE GPU-Z SAYS. maybe you should read more carefully to what i am saying

about the actual wattage of each card: i was using wattman settings for lowest possible watt, gpu-z showed 50w and wall said 265w I changed to a rom for 29mhash, gpu-z shows 67watt and wall says 300w gpu-z says difference 17watt, wall says difference 35watt.other test: without mining pc wall 180w with mining pc wall 310w gpu-z says 67watt and wall shows 130w difference!so i conclude that the actual power draw of the gpu is almost the DOUBLE of what gpu-z says at least on my setup Eliovp any news of your 65watt 29mhash rom? the 85watt 29mhash seems a bit dated.

RX480-31.8HighPower.rom 125w 31.5mh RX480-30MhOTBLowEnergy.rom 100w 30.5mh 480LowEnergyOK.rom 85w 29mh RX480Mod.rom 105w 28mh
the 480LowEnergyOK.rom is the most efficient
That is what GPU-z says, but not real power... of course real power is more. just something to compare. i saw my plug on the wall and could also see the raises in watt. from 320 it even reached 400. its better than nothing. dont like it? dont see it my power meter on the wall confirmed that the lowest power usage come from 480LowEnergyOK.rom while maintaining 29mhash

Hey guys. I've also been playing around a bit to find an optimal setting Hash/watt. This is where i am so far. Will probably get it better though :p Eliovp what about this? not stable? any rom for the above?

using 480LowEnergyOK.rom with 16.9.1 and CDM 7.0 mining at ethpool.org, running approx 2 days now - very stable holding 29MHs per GPU.
This 16.9.1 seems to be the life saver....
Your cards (I think you have Sapphires) held it well even with previous drivers. I'm trying to understand what causes the drop in hashrate of my XFX. This is why I asked akaloith about stability of hashing yes its steady for 10 hours. i tweaked the fan and the temperatures and now get a 72 C at 2500rpm. I have gigabyte reference but i believe all are same. maybe bad asic quality? check it on gpu-z. mine is 75% (not so good)

Temp 80 C ? A bit hot? gpu-z Watt 85W ? should i mess with fan or anything or its ok?

I have found these: 480LowEnergyOK.rom RX480-30MhOTBLowEnergy.rom RX480-31.8HighPower.rom RX480Mod.rom Am i using the correct one for low power 480LowEnergyOK.rom? Can you tell me hashrate & gpu-z watt of the other? From my measurements 480LowEnergyOK.rom should be called 480_29mhash_85watt.rom I have not yet tested for hours so is this the correct rom for low power?

I have reference rx480 8gb & win 10 64bit I flashed it with 480LowEnergyOK.rom using " atiflash -p -f 0 480lowenergyOK.rom" (cmd.exe with Admin rights) I have latest 16.9.1 to avoid signing etc I get these: Temp 80 C ? A bit hot? gpu-z Watt 85W ? should i mess with anything or its ok?
