341  Economy / Economics / Re: Stimulus package drop in coinbase on: April 23, 2020, 02:42:23 PM
$3 billion in stablecoins are now sitting on exchanges
and who knows how much non-stablecoin fiat is on the sidelines. i don't wanna read too much into it as a short term indicator, but that's a whole lot of dry powder! Shocked
This clearly shows that everyone is expecting an economic turmoil and it is evident that they are expecting that it will affect the bitcoin market too, i wonder how many exchanges will go offline claiming someone hacked their wallets because the amount of coins sitting in the exchanges are really high and people would never understand the risk even though you hear about a major crypto hack every year.

why people will put that money on btc when infact they need the money right now on more important use because they dont know if how long the crisis will last .
It is just a comical approach to the situation and we see these conspiracy theories pop up and no one in the right mind will do those in a crisis like this.
342  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Covid-19 a cause for BTC price drops? on: April 22, 2020, 01:52:51 PM
I would say that bitcoin has the potential to be a currency (and indeed a safe-haven store-of-value); this may have been the original vision but that vision is not currently realised. At the moment in its development the markets are comparatively thin and regulation is loose. This inevitably causes volatility, which leads to further speculation, and so bitcoin is treated largely as a highly speculative asset.
I am still expecting things to change around and the developers could fulfill what everyone wanted, to be used as a currency and if you have that aspect of bitcoin then everything will come into place, you cannot expect it to be a store of value without the function of a currency, regulations will happen in the coming years and it is inevitable.

@OP the recent price drop can be because of many reasons and COVID is a primary reason because the entire economy is struggling.
343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: April 20, 2020, 03:29:55 PM
I believe that this series would already be insured so CA should not suffer any losses, but let’s take a hypothetical situation where the series is not insured then they will not use the word cancel, rather they’ll declare that the series is postponed and then they’ll try and schedule it in the coming months or next year.
That is an alternative thought, i never heard about the series getting insured in the past and even if the match gets washed away due to weather they usually reimburse the tickets and the loss is usually managed by the respected local body conducting the match, you made a valid point which is not known by the general public, from my understanding the reason they are not able to postponed the series is because the scheduling for the next few years are already made.
344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 19, 2020, 05:46:08 PM
The money given to Zimbabwe is like celestial material being thrown up in a black hole. Almost all of it would be stolen by the corrupt officials.
If the ICC enforces transparency then all the boards will be in trouble as none of them are clean, Zimbabwe cricket is down the drains and the political system controls everything and they really do not care about the game and hence nothing can be said and they lost their players because majority are migrating to other countries and considering that is the case you only get second string players.

346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinmarketcap or Coingecko? on: April 17, 2020, 08:56:29 PM
Coingecko has their own way of ranking than coinmarketcap does. Coinmarketcap ranks based on what's happening. For instance a token is pumped by 1000% and volume increases, its automatically ranked in coinmarketcap but Coingecko will take other measure to determine if this is really the value of the coin or its just a pump. Their algorithm differs so to say.
That is a fair explanation, i never used coingecko extensively earlier but after seeing your comment thought of visiting them  Smiley. Heard about the trust score system when they evaluate the volume and if they are really checking the web traffic stats in coingecko then i would choose it than CMC.

i also heard that CMC is sold to another big investor, so for now i both do not trust them for all my info about projects
It is none other than binance as they are planning to take over the entire market  Grin.

349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 10, 2020, 05:07:06 PM
I don't think T20 world cup would be possible as even if one country hosts it or not, we have other countries like England, India that may backout. It's only if everything dies down by June that the match could be played without any audience but still precautions would be taken. It's likely not to happen. They postponed so many events till 2021 so this also may get postponed and it's better it does if the cases don't end.
There is no way we could see any sporting events in the next few months, the best solution is to extend these events indefinitely and when the situation calms down then it makes sense to schedule accordingly because as for now the Corona virus determines when everything returns to normal.
The only event that i thought would take place was UFC and that too was scrapped because of safety reasons.

~snip
this isn't a "simple cold" dude. i've been sick with it for 2.5 weeks and i would never wish this shit on my worst enemy. i've never felt anything like this in my lungs before. i can only imagine what it's like for someone twice my age and not physically fit. i also came down with it ~2 weeks after isolating which tells me it's insanely infectious due to incubation/shedding time.

my friend's aunt also died last week from coronavirus related cardiac arrest. i didn't know her but that shit is real enough to me. not hysteria. i'm just praying my mom doesn't get it. the people who aren't taking it seriously are either ignorant, or they are sort of sociopathic because they don't have parents/relatives who may die from it and they just don't care about the rest of society.
I hope you are doing good, there are many users in this forum who takes these things as fun, i have seen many messages here telling that people die of other diseases annually and some claim that people are just hyping the situation, people only takes things seriously once these pandemic hits your family or known people and i know the seriousness of the diseases as it will affect your internal organs and not just the lungs, i wish everyone is safe and take the situation seriously.
351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 10, 2020, 08:42:43 AM
Dana knows that this fight could happen as logistical it's possible with minimum amount of people so he's doing his best to make it happen as he also knows there's a lot of demand from fans for it. I hope he continues to try get something done because the world could do with some entertainment right now.
I was expecting that the fight would take place as there is nothing else to watch even though there was the risk but if Dana was confident that he was taking every precautions to make sure everyone is fine i thought the fight would take place, the truth is everyone is bored as you have plenty of time but nothing else to do, no live sport nor other entertainment and the only options is to watch past events and movies and now i am bored watching movies. If they restart the event i am expecting Dana to come up with back to back events.
352  Economy / Economics / Re: Nobel Laureate asked India to print more money and not to worry about inflation on: April 10, 2020, 05:58:08 AM
Nobel Laureate Abhijeet Banerjee has recently asked India to print more money and transfer them to the poor class of people to increase demand in the market to tackle upcoming recession post COVID-19.
A lot of economists will say it is a bad idea because later it will become very difficult to arrest inflation rate. But increasing the demand is a major challenge as well.
The economy is struggling for a long time and different sectors were affected well before the lock down and in order to overcome the recession if they are printing more money then how they will control the flow of money and how they will be withdrawing the money at a later time, countries like the US and Europe are struggling to withdraw the money they printed earlier and how India will be able to achieve the impossible. The current government has already sold all the public ventures to private parties and i wonder what will be the situation in the next 5 years.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 09, 2020, 05:04:45 PM
But if i have to bet on any opener then will go with Rohit sharma.
There's only one player comes to my mind when we talk about a tripple; it's Rohit of course. Anyone here wants a bet on that? Well, forget about tripple century. Who will be the next player to hit the double? What do you think guys? Do you want to have bet on this?
It is hard task to score a double century let alone a triple century in ODI, you need to have a stamina that is out of this world to be able to bat for that long, it took a long time since someone thought a double century in ODI is possible and Sachin made that possible and then the rest of the players tried to reach that goal and a few were successful.
Players like David Warner and Jason Roy have the strike rate to score a double.
354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK outlaws credit card gambling from 14th April on: April 09, 2020, 03:29:58 PM
Been reading some above and confirmed my suspicion about credit card use at casinos. I always thought it was an easy way to deposit and then bet all in on something, and if it goes bad, you call your bank and say it got hacked. Guess people really do that.
There were cases when people use their credit card for online gambling then loose their money and then call the bank to inform that their card is stolen but when you are in a real physical casino there will be video evidence that cannot be manipulated and hence i understand the risk for the credit card companies to allow them to use in online casino.
355  Economy / Speculation / Re: Comeback for the bitcoin on: April 09, 2020, 02:21:10 PM
It's still difficult for anyone to predict what could happen around the halving. The coming 3 months are going to be decisive for the future of bitcoin.
The coming months is not that decisive for the future of bitcoin but when you are looking at the price prediction then it is decisive as to where the market goes, the price and the future of bitcoin cannot be coined together.

Bitcoin has improved but still not the way the users wanted it to. Whether it would be capable of gaining the interest of miners even after the halving is the larges query people have.
For me the improvement in bitcoin is about the scaling and not the price, the miners will mine as long as they get the profit and there will be people willing to mine for the network to prosper and not for the profit in the short term.
356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 09, 2020, 01:01:30 PM
I speculate that Dana is creating a new storyboard for Conor and Khabib where Conor might be made to fight the winner of El Cucuy versus Justin Bieber. If Conor wins the interim championship, Khabib cannot avoid him anymore.
These situations cannot be scripted, this fight with Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje will be really interesting because of their contrasting fighting styles and hopefully Justin Bieber will be the special guest referee  Cheesy
If Just Gaethje wins then all the plans for a high profile fight against Khabib and Tony will vanish, the winner of this fight will face Khabib to unify the title.

Also, Dana might not forgive Khabib for leaving America, I reckon. He will make certain that his pet will fight the Russian this year hehehe.
Khabib gave an interview with ESPN and he said Dana White said to Khabib to fly to Dubai as the fight might take place in Dubai and then once Khabib was not allowed to land in Dubai he was forced to move to Russia and Dana did not respond to him after that as they do not have a location where the fight takes place, so you really cannot blame Khabib as we have no idea where the fights takes place rather than rumors about the location.
357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 08, 2020, 07:58:26 PM
I don't understand what's wrong with media ?   Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh faced criticism when they support the Shahid Afridi appeal for donation.  This is not good approach at all in these testing times.  Sad
I have seen this news, rather than thinking about humanitarian donations helping a fellow cricket who played together and they are good friends the media and social media especially the Orange terrorist started attacking them. There is no way we could change the perception of these stupid fools as they do not consider everyone as human beings.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 08, 2020, 02:35:47 PM
In addition, I wonder what preparation Gaethje did despite of the last minute call from Dana? Do you think is it enough to beat the Rank 1 contender? *sigh Why we come this far?  Everything seems not on its proper place so I'll not get shocked if we all get disappointed after watching the event Grin
That is the risk every fighter who is fighting during this lockdown is taking, they cannot prepare in the gym as they are forced to shut and you cannot find training partners who could help you to prepare during this period and i will not be surprised if all the fights does not live up to the expectation of the fans and i wonder they will see an increase in PPV sales as majority are jobless and the illegal streaming services will be the place where everyone searches to view the event.

359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: April 07, 2020, 10:32:02 PM
Interesting interview with Dana White for ESPN MMA with Brett Okamoto.
Is Ferguson-KhabibCursed on not?
looks like Dana started to believe Joe Rogan about this Smiley
The funny thing Dana said during the interview is that he is planning to conduct the event on a private island and they are not even planning to reveal the details because he doubts whether there will be any sanctions imposed if they reveal the location now, which means they are expecting heat conducting this event and yet he is confident that he will be able to conduct future events. The UFC is taking a huge risk and if anyone tests positive after the event then it will impact their business drastically.
360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IPL Mutual Pool Discussion. on: April 07, 2020, 08:55:19 PM
To tell you truth i also do not know how the algorithm will work at the back ground. Anyone here betting on sportsbet on this virtual IPL matches can better share the experience with us. I was excited to get the email about this from sportsbet but look like it will not be successfully among the gamblers.
I am also waiting for someone to verify how this virtual IPL will match up and how the algorithm plays out, it is an experiment by them and there is no way to understand how they have set the algorithm but the house edge they will be having will favor them and it might depend upon the number of bets they receive. Looks like a lottery but with better odds to win Cheesy.
