The illusion of 'having money'

plus comsumption taxes plus capital gains etc.
48%+ in taxes, ss, etc. Now, it makes sense why they're afraid of bitcoin and tax evasion.

Another bull run in few weeks. Just my intuition, no chart reading.

5  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: IEC cord Rating for 1 Antminer S9 with APW3++ 220v 50hz on: November 16, 2017, 09:05:59 PM
Thank you, guys!
6  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: IEC cord Rating for 1 Antminer S9 with APW3++ 220v 50hz on: November 15, 2017, 12:08:28 PM
For S9, the power consumption is 1323W (13.5TH/s batch).. say 1400W. At 220V supply, load current is 6.4A plus 10% at the wall for efficiency.. so around 7.1A.

Wire size should be 1.5mm2 as per NEC wire sizing for 7.1A load. That makes your wire undersize for your load if it is only 0.75mm2 that is why it gets hot.

Better get thicker wire size to match your load current and that is 1.5mm2 to be safe.

Okay. Thanks. Im gonna search the local computer hardware store.
Can you give any brand recommendations? I live in India.
7  Bitcoin / Mining support / IEC cord Rating for 1 Antminer S9 with APW3++ 220v 50hz on: November 15, 2017, 07:07:17 AM
I have a 10 amp IEC cord connected to the PSU but it gets hot. I don't have an instrument to read the temperature.
Shouldn't 10 amps be enough at 200v?
Cable is thin though, 0.75 mm˛.
I don't see any darkening in the cable. Should i be worried?

In all honesty, even though I already put in my guess, I predict the next ATH will not be until 2020  Undecided

I fear another 2 year bitcoin hibernation period before much more amazing prices. We have lived through that 4 year cycle a few times already, I have little doubt it won't happen again.

I'm still holding though. But this time I will not have a job when it hits the 2 year low to buy all of those cheap coins.
It's difficult to tell until November end. You will probably have much clearer picture then.

November will be a nothingburger!
If they fork-off, it will be an altcoin! B2X never will be the legacy chain. The vast majority of the ecosystem is against that fork. Therefore it's another chance to get some free money like bcash was. There will be another one with BTCGPU/BGold as well!
For now I stay pretty bullish for another upwards move and a possibility of a new ATH. But for sure we will see some bear phase of a few months again at some point, no doubt about that. Right now the shakeouts had been about showing strongs hands and faith. The longer bear and consolidation phases again will be about patience! These times are often extremely boring for many people, but great for more accumulation.
First the bull run for free money followed by bear phase = free money + more bitcoins.
November's gonna be great!
9  Local / Mining (India) / Re: ASIC Miner Import Duty post GST on: September 17, 2017, 01:27:14 PM
Thanks. Was going through the site and came across chapter 84 section 71 that also looked relevant and suggests the duty should be 0.

I know someone who imported L3+  in july end had to pay approx 60+ K to DHL that included 40+ custom duty , 10K penalty and 5K fine (the penalty and fine were for slight mismatch of total value of miner that bitmain quoted on the box to the value in invoice and for using dummy IEC as he was importing as an individual - Delhi customs) and 5k handling fee to DHL.
Yes chapter 84 is the one. I skipped it because it read nuclear reactors lol. Anyway. Even if the duty is 0 you'll have to pay 18% IGST. I'm currently trying to get an IEC just in case.

how you get IEC ?
My dad's tax advisor is helping me with that.

let me know how you doing that, but yes there is 0% import on miners.  before GST i paid like 28%
Did you have an IEC or you used dummy IEC?

IEC is not needed for personal Import, be ready to shell out 35 to 40% duty as that is how much they are charging in delhi tthese days no matter what HSN code u mentioned, it  looks like they charge as per their whim and not according to table.

Read the thread mentioned by Guvn0r.
It's ridiculous! There is no BCD. So, total duty should either be 18% or 28% I don't understand what they charge 35-40% for! Icegate should be scrapped in such a case.
They have a website stating one thing and their officers charge something else.
Just checked,
Antidump, Safeguard and Tarrif (CVD) Duties are not applicable on miners. So I don't really understand why they charge so much!

is getting even worse as now customs are not clearing miners easily,
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1864920.msg21663490#msg21663490

bad days, better to pay more duty than seizure by customs.

I hope some one will hire a lawyer and sue their ass.
Where does he live though? delhi customs seem to be the most troubling.
I read his other post and could figure out he was from Banglore. The officers are either afraid or they want bribe. Hopefully, my state would be different. I'll keep this thread updated. My shipping date is 10-20 Oct. And it's via DHL.

ATH guess 01/02/2018

Where are you from though? In the uk I'd read that as 1st Feb 2018. US would read that as Jan 2nd.
Looks like Australia from time. How do they read there? We read it like English.

I am. This time I'll buy a lot. Really a lot for lot less, hopefully!

Well... Did you order?

What happened... How much duty and igst

I think whatever laws referred above will not be regarded in the miners case by custom officers. They'll charge us the same as they do for all electronics.
If they charge us according to cellphones then it should be less at about 10%. My orders are yet to be shipped. I've ordered Oct 10-20 batch of S9s. I've emailed them regarding the IEC and other instructions for DHL waiting for them to respond.

Coin is a scam.... do not invest your money in ATCC
I know. But it's difficult to explain that to your friends (close one's) that you care about. Especially when the price is rising. I could successfully convince him to not buy through cryptoinbox but his rising interest in this coin is worrying me. I want him to make money but I don't want him to lose all that he's made in a flash.
I've spent some time at novaexchange and could see many people who wanted to buy atc coin without knowing how to. Really pathetic. They don't know what they're doing.
17  Local / Mining (India) / Re: ASIC Miner Import Duty post GST on: September 08, 2017, 02:09:53 PM
[Update] I've obtained an IEC. It's same as PAN. They've changed the allocation method of IEC to pan number for uniformity across various departments, post GST implementation. It'd be great if anyone can confirm about the requirement of GSTIN. I checked icegate data under HS Code: 8471 50 00 and could learn from it, the aggregate duty rate, which should to be around 18% (slightly less but NOT more).

IEC is for firms/companies and not for individuals.
Are you importing miners on firm's name?
Basically you can apply for IEC as a sole proprietor under proprietorship where you're the director(boss) and stuff like that.
