Still very quiet here.

Maybe it would be a good idea to provide some more details about what you are planning behind the scenes as I don't see any activity on github either...

Hey everyone, we're still working behind the scenes.  We really wanted the next update to be a surprise and unfortunately that's working against us at the moment.  We're still moving along, but unfortunately progress has been slow.  This is a project of passion, but passion doesn't pay the bills just yet Smiley.

However, we do believe the community does deserve to be kept informed and frankly we've taken too long to try and make it a surprise.  We're currently working on a merge mined pool and have unfortunately had multiple set backs.  We chose p2pool as a backend to support community pools, however, we are having a difficult time getting the merge mining aspect working in the way that we want.

Blockexplorer for Beginnercoin  not available?

Currently we do not have a blockexplorer, if you are or know someone willing to implement that we have a bounty for an explorer.

Thanks again to everyone for all your support, we are sorry that we couldn't keep pace with our updates.  However, we are still working behind the scenes and are as committed as day 1 to our goals of outreach and education of cryptocurrency.  There is nothing to be intimidated or mystified by, we are here to lower that educational barrier to entry and hasten the revolution.

Cheers,
BGNR Dev Team

This threads looking a little dead. Op I think you need some campaigns setup. What about a signature one for noobs ? It will help promote and teach at the same time which is basically the whole point of this coin is it not ?

Thanks for the comment Jason! We have a fairly big project that we're working on polishing up (yes, still - bugs galore) and then we intend to do a much stronger push with bounty campaigns. We need a little more infrastructure in place before we feel comfortable doing that.  For the meantime however, while not a signature campaign exactly, we do have a signature bounty thread up for all bitcointalk user levels!

We know it's been a little slow but we're still here and working behind the scenes. We hope to be scaling up soon.

Thanks so much to all those who are still supporting us!

Any plan BGNR will be traded in yobit?

We're looking at all the different exchanges right now to see which ones to approach.  We haven't decided yes or no on any of them yet. Ideally we'd like to get a blockchain explorer up and running prior to approaching them, but we'll see how it all shakes out.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BeginnerCoin (BGNR): Free, Open-Source, Beginner-Friendly Cryptocurrency on: October 07, 2016, 05:59:54 PM
Hey all, we wanted to do an interim update to let everyone know where we're at currently.  The large update we had planned unfortunately keeps having setbacks, but is still moving forward. Here's a taste of what's to come!

We've received a few questions regarding what our plan was going forward and we have spent a lot of time the last few weeks really figuring out how we want to proceed.  Our goal is get more people using cryptocurrencies and demystify their use for newcomers.  Many people are asking how they can help get the word out about cryptocurrencies and share their passion for this revolutionary technology.

We want to help you make that happen.  The more people who use an understand cryptocoins the more we all benefit.

With that said, we will pressing forward with regular promotion campaigns through social and traditional media.  We will keep our development bounties open (for many we've greatly increased the rewards), however our focus will be on outreach and rewarding our users who help educate and spread the word of cryptocurrencies.  We also want to start some old school advertising methods outside of social media...

We will be posting flyers in TO BE ANNOUNCED LOCATIONS!!  We will be making our website more mobile friendly in the near future to coincide with this on the ground campaign, but we wanted to give you a sneak peak as well as get some feedback.

The image above is a rough work in progress, please feel free to add comments and suggestions!  We will also be needing translations!  Check out our bounty board for more info!.

UPDATED BOUNTIES

We have increased the bounty for our blockchain explorer by TEN TIMES which brings that bounty up to 100,000 BGNR!!

We are bringing back our Twitter bounties and moving them to a more stable, ongoing campaign rather than a single event!  Follow us @BeginnerCoin and check out our bounty board to claim!

We have also brought back our Reddit advertisement bounty, which starts tomorrow 10/08/2016.  Reply and upvote to earn your BGNR!

We want to remind users of our Getting Started translation bounty and also welcome your ideas for new bounties!  Users with good ideas will be paid in BGNR!  We want to encourage users to help us get the word out and help newer users get started using the technology.  Instruction and information guides as well their translations can be used to help new users and we want to encourage YOU to get started!

As most have already pointed out, we have lowered our faucet payouts while we shift focus from testing. The faucet will remain open indefinitely, but we will be more heavily focusing on payouts to users who participate in promotion campaigns and heavily rewarding the content creators out there who participate by writing guides or translating existing ones on our forum.  Faucets are an excellent tool, but we must focus on community development to achieve our goals.

To all our users and miners we cannot thank you enough for your support.  We are excited to be a part of this community and are committed to continue the education and outreach of cryptocurrencies for everyone!  Get active! Tell your friends, tell your relatives, write guides, help each other out, BeginnerCoin.com is here to help YOU spread the word on what crytpocurrencies are capable of achieving.

Only together can we break the current mainstream mindset regarding cryptocoins.

Stay tuned!

But how do you make a coin worth something ? Being around is one thing but doing what ? What further developements can be made to create more interest in a coin ? I don't know besides the dev leaving how coins get their value.

Many coins offered have some sort technological reason they are valued at, something that furthers the engineering side of the equation.  For our coin we are focused entirely on the social side, getting more people on board and helping people wrap their minds around the technology so they can approach it from an educated standpoint.  It's not something that has an easy numerical value.  We do believe that through continued effort our coin will continue to have value as a result of that effort.  Development is continuing both for new tools and promotions.

We've been discussing this point on and off (which is why it took a bit to get back to you) and we have plenty of ideas. But, we need to proceed carefully because our real focus is on outreach and education and we don't want to mar that with a misguided attempt to drive up the coin's value artificially.  We'd much prefer that process to happen organically so that is how we will proceed for the time being.  This is a work in progress and we will revisit this decision later as we continue to work with the community. We are all in this together and we want to ensure our users are gaining value for what they are doing.

I hope that answers your question, its an important one and I'm really glad you asked.

Thanks so much for the support. We'll do our best to keep everyone updated on what we're doing without ruining the surprises we have in store along the way!

I couldn't find a block explorer in the OP. Doesn't Beginner Coin have a block explorer yet?

Any coin with a big premine should have a block explorer so people can check it doesn't suddenly move to an exchange. It's more important than the Beginner Coin website already set up.

Thanks for the comment and feedback! No block explorer yet, but it's definitely on the short-term development list.

We do have a bounty available for it for anyone in the community who develops one:

Getting BGNR on exchanges is not our focus right now. We have a lot more development work to do first, as you've said.  Wink

Cheers!

Wallet is not working with me dev, it states 6 hours behind even it is opened more than that, even after nodes are being added. This is about two days now.

Mining is intermittent right now. A new block was just mined so it should have just caught up for you.

It's one of the issues that will be addressed in the upcoming update. Thanks for your patience!

i admire the dev of this coin for being so active, i guess this coin will go far when it reached yobit or c-cex.

We'll definitely reach out to more exchanges in the future after we get a few other higher priority projects developed.

Thanks for the support. Cheers!

No problem. I will support where support is deserved. I have respect for a dev that has enough self respect and belief in his own coin.
I was wondering though. How exactly do you get the coin value up ? How do you stop a coin from dying the slow deaht alot do when the hit near 1 satoshi ?

Coins don't die a slow death because they hit 1 satoshi (or any other perceived low price), they die because the developers stop developing for the ecosystem. That's not going to happen in this case.  Smiley

We've hit a snag with our project-in-progress and need to do some debugging but we expect to be back on track shortly. Hopefully we'll have something ready to show everyone this coming week.

Cheers! Thanks for checking in with us!

It's happened! 28 days later, we finally have graphics in our thread.  Cheesy

(No, that's not the update we've been talking about...)

Thanks again for all the support so far everyone! We can't wait to show you what we've been working on.

Really appreciate the support and the posts :-)

We're testing some new additions to our network as we speak and things are going well...our next update shouldn't be too far off.

novaexchange always kill coin. Grin this market realy no good

We're grateful to novaexchange for being the first exchange to offer BGNR! But our primary focus right now is on development, not on getting listed in exchanges or BGNR market price.

We have some big announcements coming soon in an update that will hopefully be ready in the next week or two - stay tuned.

Hello, we don't offer proof-of-stake rewards with BGNR, sorry! However, we do encourage everyone to use our faucet at freebgnr.com.

Wallet is working fine here but I hope that beginner coin team may resolve faucet issue as soon as possible because that the only easy way we can earn free coins. Waiting for more than 100 minutes for 10 coins is not reasonable but of course I understand on my part. I saw some development on the faucet website so far, its good that it tranfer to a page where information about the coin is ellaborated, I appreciate it.  I can see progress here besides huge premine and had no reason to dump at recent exchange. Much more when other version of wallets will be released followed by a roadmap. Wink

Thanks for the comment and support! We agree there needs to be far more ways to earn BGNR, and there will be, very soon.  Smiley

We definitely have more ways to distribute coins in mind...and some cool ways to spend your BGNR too.

We'll talk about releasing a roadmap, but in reality, the development process is very organic and we don't want to set any false hopes or expectations.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the comments! Just some quick notes and updates today:

- We've adjusted the faucet payout and delay, as mentioned by the last couple of posters. We'll be adjusting this regularly, so don't be too surprised when you see changes. We've been at war with spam bots claiming coins (no big surprise!) so we'll be working to minimize the amount of BGNR in the hands of bot owners while keeping faucet payouts flowing to all legitimate users.

These guys who cheat, always harm honest people. this has to stop.

I have a problem:

My wallet not this synchronizing says The Following:

"NO SOURCE BLOCK availaable" then says that "5 years and 8 weeks behind"

 I did something wrong?

I just claim the faucet and had not seen it

Hi, apologies for the trouble you're having with the wallet.

You should be able to solve your problem using the instructions in this thread:

http://beginnercoin.com/forum/index.php?topic=44.0

That has worked for everyone so far...let us know if that works for you!

Thanks!
